For me this is a holiday in the beautfulUSA of the fifties! A great Modell!!!!
Very nicely done. I’m so pleased. Crops & flat country excellent thanks!
Fantastic modeling! Nice video! More! More!
Outstanding railroad.I felt like I was there.Late 1940s.
luved the ground level chase scenes...
I like the way the backscene melds into the actual scenery - very nicely done.
Absolutely amazing!! I can’t believe I haven’t subscribe to your channel I’m doing that right now as we speak. I look forward to more videos thank you for sharing 👍😃
Great to see a Video on Tony's layout . It is probably the best scenicked in America. with a minimum track to table width of 1:5 you can't miss . Love this era of NKP steam!
Scenery is fantastic. I grew up in IN, lots of memories of the small towns you depicted on the railroad.
Stunningly wonderful! Great video! I do wish the video would not cut off after the locomotive for passenger consists though.
Wow! All great, and the pacing scene is absolutely fantastic! Thanks for posting.
Always a pleasure seeing Tony Koesters layout! Subscribed!
What a spectacular railroad. Very nice work videoing it. Thx for sharing! 👍 David
real nice job, outstanding backdrop work, thank you for sharing
This model railroad is not only famous but a masterpiece. Thank you for the post. It would be amazing if you did a "cabride" video of the whole line. It would be a wonderful way to tour the layout. Thumbs up!
NKP Hudson's don't get enough attention, they were hard workers and beautiful engines too.
Lotsa big smiles here, loved the pacing shots.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing this!
About as realistic as it gets. Tony really knows his stuff.
Wow!
thanks for the great video of the Nickle Plate. As a former dispatcher on Tony's Railroad I can only say that the freight in Linden should have gotten there sooner ! Or not have left Frankfort! Thanks so much for the memory.
Very nice layout, excellent work!
Very Nice Layout
Great railroad, and an outstanding video. The low level shots are fantastic. :)
Отличные модели, спасибо за обзор! Отличные модели, к сожалению американский паровозов у меня почти нету, но много тепловозов, очень клевые модели. Свой шарм и прелесть.
The realism, the detail is.........We'll, words just don't do it justice. I mean just about every segment of this video made me feel as if I were literally standing or driving outside in the open alongside a real right-of-way. Not too many model layouts give that kind of affect.
This looks so realistic!
awesome locomotives. very cool.
Nice model train layout
When Tony scrapped his old layout I wondered how he could better that and it looks like he did. Smoothest running HO steam I've ever seen. I remember back decades ago when he was reluctant to run steam in any great amount.

I met Tony about 1980, been so long but the time is about right. I think it was the last operating session with steam on the V&O RR. I was friends with the McClellan sons. I spent countless hundreds of hours in the basement on walnut st. Those were fun times. my favorite train was the 'valley local",,,train XVL. This ran with a 2-8-0. The town the XVL ran to was Clintwood. Clintwood section is now located at the model rr museum in Tn. The pusher job out of Dawson Springs was also fun. The V&O was an absolutely amazing model rr. it ran so smoothly. Way ahead of its time. the detail and lighting in my opinion has never been equaled. I can not over emphasize the quality of the lighting on the V&O. Allen,Bev,Kelley,Brad,Patrick,,,and freckles the dog, barney, yamas and mittens the cats. oh the memories.
I like it. It's not overdone. The background blends perfectly. Not too much detail, but what there is is well done.
What a unique and cool concept for a video. Nice all the way around. Frankfort was the first town I lived in as a child. I think I saw the Swift plant on the west end of your Yard.
Such a terrific passenger train... but not one passenger or anyone piloting the engine.... a ghost train? Scenery is spectacular, Tony.
Beautiful!

It looks like it is from the 30s and the 40s
many, many years ago(1980) I met Tony at Allen McClellan's V&O RR.
Terrific.
Never seen Moving pacing shots done on a model RR before AMAZING could you do a engineers view front view tour of the layout THANKS
I got myself one of those Nickel Plate Brass Hudsons and man is it a pain. I'm the first one to actually run it as it was new in the box. The second time I ran it, a rod link on the engineer's side broke! The gearbox is smooth going forward but requires a shim to take up the backlash in reverse. Without the shim, it can't even go backwards. My layout doesn't have the widest of turns and expected some issues with shorts but it essentially can't turn right without causing a short. Being in as delivered appearance, I knew it was gonna be a little bit of a project to add smoke deflectors, the shield over the air compressors and number boards but now having to source another rod? That side is essentially screwed and it's brand new!
Those small cutouts, pasted to the wall, are very effective, realistic and unobtrusive backgrounds.
And this was really cool I love the steam trains and these look really nice the only thing that was off was there really should have been some smoke coming from the finals that literally made them look more realistic but all in all it's really a nice lay out your trees look just like the real things.
Very nice! Would have loved to see the whole freight consists, too. :)

Tulyar 10 , Tony is always upgtading and improving his RR, so maybe next winter.
Wonderful layout, 5 stars. Loved the video. Two suggestions. 1. The moving shots are great. I haven't seen that done very often. A stablizer for the camera would make these so much better. 2. A tripod would be help remove those little giggles. Maybe one more thing, if you please, slightly longer takes in some of the situations. Thanks for shooting and editing this video.
As a fine model very very 👍🏻
Am I noticing correctly the locomotives have synchronized sound to the 1/4 wheel rotations? if yes, what sound systems are deployed on these locomotives and how is the sound system actuated by the wheel rotations?
Hello this is a wonderful video, you must tell me where you got the backdrops.

In a model railroader in his train of thoughts column he says he painted a blue background and used sceniking flatland backdrops for the trees and background fields. It looks very realistic. I don't remember which issue. Tony Koester really knows how to make a realistic model railroad. That's why every time I pick up a Model Railroader I read his column
Very good camera work, what camera did you use? The depth of field is excellent.

Just my driod camera.
Very nice scenery. I would have expected better sound though if I'm honest.

Inexperienced railfanner and his cheap camera. Plus the owner has the sound way down on locos. Its hard to hear with 30 some odd locos making noise.
2000 Steam Engines were saved from the scrapped line.

Better than nothing.
Fantastic layout! Would’ve enjoyed it much more were it not for the goofy commentary interrupting each and every shot though.
No Whistle at grade crossings. Not realistic everything else was amazing.

John B, perhaps there is a link between a missing crew and no whistle.

While that's is a great layout, Tony should follow his teachings about crews in the cab and proper whistling.Of course like most of us he will get around to adding crews to the cabs some day.
"Nickle" is spelled wrong in the title. Great show and modeling though!

Don't care for the wallpaper background with non-moving vanishing point pics, nor the lichen-bound trees. I, too, think it's overrated.. Sorry, but we're on the internet...!
