the reason his style of skating never caught on was because it was too hard for mere mortals to emulate

How can people just walk past this dude without giving him a second look when he's pulling off some of the most epic skateboarding tricks in the history of the sport?!

i though most tricks in those games were impossible in real life... but damn this guy invented most of them.... insane

I like how this guy straight up invented the modern skateboard, invented the foundations of flip tricks, and did tricks that skaters to this day can't replicate. It's super rare to have someone who invents something still better than the professionals years down the line.

As a kid playing THPS3, I remember being particularly mesmerized by Rodney’s video. It wasn’t until much later that I learned how much of a pioneer he was and the sheer amount of basic tricks he invented. His brilliance was apparent even to a layman kid.

I remember first seeing Mullen playing the Tony Hawk games and I thought, "these are how good pros are." Then it was later I realized even pros think Mullen is inhuman. I remember doing the manual tricks in THUG/THUG2 thinking they were fake until I watched Mullen's demos.

Back when games had you unlock things just by playing them. No need to pay for extra content. A reward for completing a challenge or the campaign.
