I love using Open G tuning D G D G. It's massive, especially on the fretless. I recorded this live into PreSonus Studio One then added some effects and overdrive.

been messing with similar intervals and riffs like in the first bit but on a two string cheap violin, repaired with household items, but when you get a thing grooving none of that matters! and this is a great groove, your playing is always awesome dude!

Thanks for that!! Great comment. I played on 3 or 4 albums by Gary Hoey in the 90’s. Those are worth checking out. Animal Instinct, Bug Alley and Endless Summer II come to mind. Derek Sherinian’s first solo album called Planet X also. I played on two albums with Tony McAlpine in the 90’s too - Premonition and Evolution. Give those a listen if you can.

It's tuned down to G so my guess is that it was rattling a bit due to lack of tension.

Actually I used it before the G tuning. A slight buzz on that string. But the rest of the strings were perfect so I didn’t want to mess with it. A simple fix! 👍🏻

Is that a piece of paper or something on the nut for the A string? Does that vibrate a lot when played open?

It's tuned down to G so my guess is that it was rattling a bit due to lack of tension.

Yes it helps with a bit of rattle on the A string.

Actually I used it before the G tuning. A slight buzz on that string. But the rest of the strings were perfect so I didn’t want to mess with it. A simple fix! 👍🏻
