There aren't many MMA fans out there that don't appreciate Tony. The man has been through it all and he's given fans more entertainment than the vast majority of the roster. He's a one of a kind fighter who gave everything to the sport of MMA and we all love him for it. CSO

Yeah, seriously. He looked soooo good in the first round and not only looked way better, but DID way better than I expected him to. Tony is a legend of the sport. The true uncrowded champ. Even tho he did taste gold. One of the most vicious and entertaining fighters on the roster. Maybe father time did steal a step, but he's still a competitor and more importantly a "fighter." I used to call him bloodsport. I hope Tony gets all the notoriety he deserves.

Prime Tony is still my favorite fighter ever. In the Khabib era, he earned his way to fighting The Eagle 5 times. He didn’t have to fight Gaethje. Tony ran off a 12 fight win streak vs these men in their prime: (out of order. This is by memory) RDA, Barboza, Josh Thomson, Gleison Tibau, Abel Trujillo, Lando Vannata (before he was a common name in mma), Pettis, and Cowboy (among others). RDA, Edson, Cowboy, Pettis, Lee, and Vannata looked like they fought Wolverine. Tony will go down as one of the most notoriously hard workers and fearless fighters to ever do it. Watching his decline has been hard to see, but Father Time is undefeated for a reason. That being said, I still think Tony has some great fights left in him. I’ll shut up now 😂 Thank you Chael for doing this. Tony deserves it

@@sarcasticgenius8563 Same here 💯 Those fights where the famous Tony meme came from are also the same fights I’ve rewatched the most 😎 I became a Tony fan when he was on TUF. He was different from day 1. If it wasn’t for a decision loss to Michael Johnson (where Tony said “I should have just taken my broken arm out and hit him with it” 😂), Tony would have won 16 in a row before Gaethje. Ppl forget he went 15-1 in official UFC bouts beginning with the TUF finale before this 4 fight skid. Sure fire HOFer

Crazy fact: During Tony's 12 fight win streak; RDA, Eddie Alvarez, Conor Mcgregor and Khabib had the lightweight belt, and he didn't get the opportunity to fight any of them for the title. He beat RDA coming off the loss to Alvarez and that should've automatically put him in position to fight Alvarez for the belt after. Only issue, Conor Mcgregor was the most famous athlete in the world, and he wasn't going to get that fight over Conor

Yeah I feel bad for the Boogeyman, it felt like he had everyone’s number, like he was unstoppable. Then he runs into gaithje and racks up 4 losses. That horse kick from Chandler was next level, good lord. Surely this can’t be the end of Tony? Not like this.
I will not be surprised if Tony comes back and makes another run at the belt. I always said to myself that his last few fights were totally mental. He got beat up by Justin because he was depleted from two weight cuts (so stupid) and was checked out for Dariush and Charles. He was in totally in for Chandler and just got caught. Physically, he's looked good in every fight. Gun-shy but not slower or old. He's got three good fights left in the next 20 months if he plays his cards right and keeps his head straight.

You have to remember he was fighting with one arm and Charles still could not submit him. He also was trying multiple submissions from bottom that if you rewatch the fight you’ll see (triangle, darce, ankle pick, etc.). He wasn’t too concerned about getting up. On top of that Charles stalled on top often and was warned of the ref to be more active. I think Tony was counting on capitalizing on a mistake from bottom. I watched the fight again today and Charles maybe hit him 10 times in all three rounds with clean shots. Tony landed that up kick that was legal if you watch Charles right knee sway right after the kick connected. Btw check out all the elbows Tony landed from the bottom. The only domination was keeping him down, but it didn’t seem like Tony was trying to get up.
