Firstly hi, I'm guessing you're here because you're currently dealing with these little terrors and are desperately looking for a way to tackle them, if not then this is a very weird video to just stumble across. This is going to be a long comment so brace yourself but I really hope it helps you because I have just defeated these buggers and I know people who are dealing with them would appreciate this. I will now proceed to give you a full guide on how to eliminate these mites including all product names and how to use them (all products used are readily available in the UK but I'm sure alternatives can be found world wide) please also note, this is not a 1 day job, you will need to do these steps over multiple days (it took us 6 days to completely get rid of them) First of all find and remove the cause of these mites, mine were caused by an opened packet of Tortilla wraps that had somehow fallen behind the microwave and gone unnoticed. Then remove any infested item from your home (throw them out, do not move to another room to avoid spreading these buggers) I threw out my microwave, kettle, toaster and grill. Take everything out of cupboards and wash them throughly or just dispose of if reasonable. Now start wiping down all the infested area with vinegar spray (I used STARDROPS WHITE VINEGAR SPRAY-purchased from asda). Leave for about 15 minutes and when your come you'll see a thousand more mites crawling around. Wipe everything down with vinegar once again. Then dilute some DETTOL LIQUID DISINFECTANT (readily available in most UK supermarkets) and wipe down all areas again. Repeat these 2 steps atleast 4 times. This will get rid of most of the mites. Now use a bleach spray (I used FLASH IMPECCABLE CLEAN BLEACH SPRAY- available in most UK supermarkets) and spray in all infested areas and leave to sit for an hour before coming back, wiping away and spraying the bleach again. Next you will need to purchase ZERO IN ULTRA POWER PEST KILLER (available in B&Q, Screwfix, Tool station) and spray this all over the infested areas. Leave for a few hours and you'll come back to hundreds of dead mites. Clean them up and repeat all previous steps until there is no sign of them. Also as your cleaning all the counters, cupboars etc spray the walls down with DETTOL MOULD AND MILDREW REMOVER to tackle the larger surface areas (this is optional but it gave me peace of mind) Every time you complete one of the detailed cleaning cycles spray the entire place down with DETTOL 24 HR PROTECT MULTI SURFACE CLEANER and let it sit for a few hours. Do this over 4 or 5 day and you should be mite free in no time. I really hope this is helpful because when I was dealing with these mites I looked everywhere for how to get rid of them but there was no detailed explanations or products that would be useful.

Weve just dealt with these. We had them in our kitchen and it turns out the epicentre of their invasion was in the back of a cupboard where we keep the dog leads, poo bags, treats etc. Where there was a few treats in the very bottom back corner that had gone mouldy. We dont go in there too often. By the time we had seen them, there were lots of them in and around that cupboard, with patches of them very visible on dog leads, top of the cupboard door etc. They were also on most of the kitchen surfaces by this point by the time we had seen them, including tiled wall, other cupboard doors and cases, fish tank, kettle etc. Etc. We emptied EVERYTHING out of the kitchen that wasn't screwed down and put it all in the shed out of the house. We bagged up and threw away everything that we could, and also anything we could sacrifice that had a lot of them on. We then wiped down the whole kitchen (surfaces, inside cupboards, doors, floor, window etc. Etc.) With white vinegar spray and kitchen roll, disposing of all used tissues to the outside bin. We did the whole kitchen 2 times right away, then waited over night. What we saw was a big reduction in the bugs, especially in the dog cupboard, but some were still present generally around the kitchen. So we wiped wiped whole kitchen again 2 times. This was over a period of 2 to 3 days, waiting between each time to see if they had gone away. Generally after this we could see that we had got on top of things and they were going. We then started to move all our stuff back in to the kitchen but each item was blasted off outside with the hose pipe, then washed properly in sink with warm water and washing up liquid. We even did this with sealed jars of food and packets (e.g. microwave rice) - if you have a dish washer this would be a big help at this point! Oh, and remember everything we bagged and threw on the first day? Well, the outside bin was now full of them so we got a skip and emptied the rubbish bags from the bin into the skip too. It's been a week now and there are still a very few of them on cupboard doors, but I think these are just residual ones from their life cycle of laying g eggs and hatching etc. Qe were lucky that the source of the problem was just mouldy dog food which could be thrown away easily, and not black mould from damp or leaky pipes etc. But when we got rid of the source of the problem, the numbers dropped overnight, then it was just a case of dealing with the residual issue and clearing them off!

I discovered I had these in my house last year and I could not figure out where they were coming from. A big "nest" were the nooks and crannies of my garbage bin. I threw the whole thing out, and that is how plague 1 ended. Just recently I noticed my little friends visited me again. They were all over the bin again, but to my horror mostly also in my espresso machine! Which I am not planning to throw away cuz it cost me a pretty penny. Anyways, I started cleaning frantically with bleach, and soaked the loose parts of my machine in 1) bleach with hot water and left it there an afternoon 2) hot water with dish soap 3) hot water with cleaning vinegar. These parts are mite free now. Be sure to dry anything you clean quickly, because they like moist and dont care too much about the detergents. Apparently they really like coffee, because there were large gatherings in the part below where you put the coffee cup, where the spilt coffe goes to. As to the bin.. Fortunately I live in a cold country, so I cleaned out the bin with bleach and left it on my balcony. I am planning to leave it there for a few days. At night it is around 0 degrees celsius right now, and the mites have a hard time surviving in the cold. (Or so Ive read) Any of the spare mites I caught in other areas I wiped them away with bleach and then I used scotch tape for the ones I didnt catch. Good luck getting rid of these tough critters.

Since two days I notice these little white dots on my kitchen and first I thought it was dust from flour but today I took a good glance and those dots are moving 😱🤮 just saw that some hours ago and most of them were in my coffee maker thingy 🥴 thanks for the advice!

I just learned about grain mites today for the first time. I feed my cats dry kibble (corn free but not grain free) in this puzzle contraption. It has multiple compartments, and I think it gives them some enrichment. In one of the compartments, I saw this similar exhibition. Some cat food managed to trap itself into a part of the puzzle that the cats can't access. Clearly I should be taking this puzzle apart and cleaning it more often. I wonder how long it's been like this, and I feel guilty for not spotting it before. Judging by the population, and considering I feed my cats three times a day, I know I've missed at least a handful of opportunities to see that this was going on.

Hi all! I have this problem and it has been a headache and a half to fix! they were all over remotes, laptops, and the back of my bed headboard. I have been disinfecting everything and sprinkled the Diatomaceous earth powder all over my carpet after steam cleaning it. It turns out i think i may have a leaky pipe or mold problem on one of my walls leading to moisture issues. I bought a dehumidifier and sure enough, there was so much moisture in the air! Anyways we’re going to get someone to come investigate the wall and see what we can do to prevent the mold issue. Spraying mite spray insecticide, sprinkling powder, steam cleaning/power cleaning my room, and buying a dehumidifier has helped reduce the number of bugs significantly. still a few on the bed but i’m hoping they stop once the mold problem gets fixed. hope this helps out and good luck! I had a huge problem with grain mites... I had some feeder insects for one of my reptiles and I guess the oats must have gotten a bit mouldy because the entire container was covered in them! They were all over my furniture, up the walls and even in the next room! I threw out the box of insects and thoroughly cleaned all of my furniture. I used a reptile-safe disinfectant to clean inside and outside of the reptile enclosure and I also cleaned all of the ornaments. I bought a dehumidifier to put in the room and I made sure that there was no food or crumbs left in the room for them to feed on. After about a week, they completely disappeared.

Just to add, once you have these mites you will pretty much get them on and off seasonally. During the summer the dryness keeps them at bay but once the cold and damp comes in they thrive. I would recommend a dehumidifier to reduce the amount of moisture and dampness and treat any mould you may have in the home.

Hey! So I'm currently battling this issue now. As of today (1 week post noticing the mites) I think I have a solution as I have not seen 1 at all today. The mites were under the bathroom sink in the vanity. First thing I did was take all of my products out and sprayed them with raid. Then I used javex in a spray bottle to kill the mold. That helped a bit but I would still see the mites, just not as many. Once I placed the dehumidifier directly in the bathroom where I had the issue and I used the pre made TSP solution.. if was like night and day. The TSP killed the mold and fungus which the mites feed off. I used rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and sprayed my products again because I would notice 2-3 mites a product that I had in the vanity. If you have a similar issue I highly recommend getting a dehumidifier, raid, rubbing alcohol and of course the TSP! It took a lot of persistence because I didn't know about the TSP until yesterday. Once I got that I haven't seen one mite today. Oh another thing I did was place something small and black in the vanity and in each drawer. The reason I did that was to be able to see if there were still mites in there as they are white. This saves time so I wasn't putting all the products back into the vanity only to tear them all out again and re-clean.

blablabla bla Trisodium phosphate. Its used to clean paint brushes and kills mold. I wonder if there's mold in the room possibly? They need that to survive so maybe try adding a dehumidifier in the room or central location. the raid will kill on contact but that's not good for the baby so try rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and it will kill the mites on contact. Unfortunately the rubbing alcohol won't be good on furniture so the only thing I can think to battle that is to steam wash it. If u find the mold source you will notice a difference in about two days. The most important piece is killing the mold and using a dehumidifier to get rid of moisture.

Fill the bath or bucket with 40 to 60 degree water, submerge the cage in the bag, make sure everything is submerged in water, then leave it. They are all over my plants and I have a large collection. All over my important paperwork. On my walls probably in my futon too. I got rid of my mealworms which I think was the problem in the first place, didn’t notice them until I seen the all over the stand I kept my mealworms on, I didn’t know that they would completely infest my living room, I tried vinegar, and alcohol, and I still can’t shake them. Help!!!!

From India here, Can't afford humidifiers , they were in kitchen i cleaned up the whole kitchen 6 times like literally emptying it..... Still my kitchen is empty.. but they were still there... So i took a high speed lighter then torched them all then used a vaccum so now in kitchen i don't see anything. But Nowni don't know how the heck they came to my hall room on of the table and all the stuffs on top are all infested now heavily... Just today i torched them all all the dead bodies are still there but despite that many are still alive... Again m gonna torch them up then will vaccum then will use some phenyl or smthn.... I literary feel like running away from this house, or to burn this thing down... M very very frustrated with this... Humidifiers will cost me half of my Salary... And theres no store here which provides mite sprays and check them online it's still too damn costly....

I have a very severe infestation. They are even in my bed and whenever I try to sleep they crawl EVERYWHERE! In my ears, up my nose. My face is in agony from furiously scratching in the night and I can't sleep for all the itching. When I move something and knock them off, there are so many it sounds like a handful of sand is falling. I live in a tiny apartment and have no money for exterminators or to buy another bed. I have a problem with damp and mould in my bedroom. That and not being able to clean and tidy for the past year because of becoming very ill means their population has just exploded. Got a dehumidifier which doesn't seem to do much. Its really getting me down so my heart goes out to anyone afflicted with these little bastards

Gosh that's terrible. No one should live like that. My advise to you is to try to find the source! The mites are hard to kill, but you can combat the mould they feel attracted to and they'll be gone in a jiffy. Put chlorine on the infected areas, or pure bleach (dont mix them, thats dangerous). And contact the landlord!

I can help you with this - I just went through this issue myself. The very first thing you want to do is buy some eucalyptus essential oil (you will need a lot) and a powder called "diatomaceous earth" - you can find both at a health food store. Both mold and mites hate eucalyptus. Next get an essential oils *nebulizer* - NOTHING that uses water (be careful, many that are listed as "waterless" actually say "waterless shutoff" which means they'll shut off when they run out of water - you *do not* want one that uses water.) Run that as often as you can stand with the eucalyptus oil (it's very strong smelling.) Wipe all your furniture down with vinegar and throw away all pillows in your bedroom. Take all your bedding off of your bed and heavily douse it with vinegar or lemon juice from a spray bottle - I suggest vinegar because it evaporates faster than lemon juice so you're not adding to any moisture problems. If you can, buy a dust mite resistant mattress cover. Give your entire home a thorough cleaning with vinegar, lemon juice, and/or eucalyptus oil and vacuum everything including furniture. Once that's done and your mattress is dry sprinkle the diatomaceous earth over your mattress and box springs, place the matress cover down right over the powder. Sprinkle that stuff everywhere and leave it there for at least a day. Diatomaceous earth is powder made from crushed sea shells and it cuts through the little buggers exoskeleton and they die. Wash all bedding every two days, hottest water available and use the Eucalyptus oil right in the laundry. If you feel them on you simply wipe your skin down with lemon juice and/or eucalyptus and they should leave you alone. You MUST repeat this entire process on a regular basis until you no longer have an infestation and keep that nebulizer on as often as you can stand it. Hope this helps, it has all but eliminated my infestation (have to replace the roof to get rid of our mold issue that is their food source in our home so until we can this has really helped keep me from going insane. And yeah, call your landlord, this is an issue the owners will have to take care of.

I had them in my bathroom. I had a basket of clothes that was moldy and didn't even know it. I got rid of all of those clothes, and got like 5 heaters, some DT EARTH and put it in the doorways and cracks so they didn't migrate. I turned all the heaters on full blast. Then wiped everything down with alcohol wipes, and then I used my blow dryer on high heat on every inch of my bathroom. Especially the cracks and crevices. Then I wiped everything down again, and got 2 bottles of lysol and drenched everything. Let it air dry and that seemed to do the trick.

It's starting to not get chilly anymore and I went behind my computer desk and there they were had to clorox it and dry it then they never came back. Also the wood on the window seems to attract them and I cleaned that out as well. Apparently during cold time those things can float through the cold draft air to other locations.

Omg, I didn't know this was a regular or normal occurrence, as we noticed millions of these all over our rat racks and water bottles for the rat racks, within less than 24 hours, there we're suddenly millions of them on my night stand, which sits right next to our rat racks, and I have 13 parrots/birds in the same room, and nowhere else to put them, to keep them safe from all of this, as the same pet shop we've purchased several of our birds, snakes, and rats to feed our snakes, whenever our own breeders aren't putting out enough babies, and the rats we bought from them would die, before we could even feed them to our snakes, as they would seem to be gasping for air, until they slowly died, acting as of they couldn't get any air. They of course lied and denied, even when we showed them videos for proof. At first, I thought maybe these suddenly appeared, right after making a large bird food order, and thinking maybe these came in the bird food, but I just don't think that these millions of tiny white mites could have possibly come from the bird food bags, because I ordered approximately 10 bags, but those bags each would have to have been teaming with them, for us to suddenly have this many millions, if not billions of them, and this makes me think they may very well have been building up their little population for a while now, in our rat racks, as we even bought our rat racks from this pet shop, as well, and we noticed they had these mites on all their feeder rats, right after they declared this crazy pandemic, and suddenly they started selling off all their rats and their rat racks, while denying what we caught on video and sent to them, and we haven't seen any, until now, and omg, they're just like on that bird cage, only times 100 as they're covering these entire rat racks and now my night stand and Neem oil isn't doing anything. Never had this problem before. Thing is, we also just found a burst water pipe outside on the property, that has standing water, right next to our house, so, maybe that's where they're coming from, maybe fleeing the soil to avoid drowning, not sure, too hard to tell when and where they come from, but I notice that they do bite, as I've gotten some on me, from trying to clean all these up, and unless it was their tiny hairs, they were biting, lol, NOT cool, at all. Good luck to all who battle with these little nightmares!

It'll take a few days / weeks to get rid of them depending on the severity of the infestation. Remember they can also be coming from the floors/ walls/ ceilings.
