The greatest drummer to ever walk this planet. Joe Morello is in 2nd place. RIP Buddy and Joe.

Ther 3 rd is Smashing Pumpkins's Jimmy Chamberlin, or maybe finally the first and best in the world !!
The greatest drummers were born, not made. We'll never see the like of Buddy again. RIP
Buddy Rich.....never bettered, never even equalled.
Excellent, Buddy was the Master of Drumming, and Carson the Master of Late Nite TV

He’s my hero and my inspiration
I don't play drums but I could watch this guy for hours.
Two legends. RIP.
"Why the sweater? Says Johnny and even a better response from Buddy " why the suit?" Great video he was amazing.... never heard anything at that speed.
There he is...the Master...just like Andre Segovia...the Master.
Keep posting more buddy rich!
Love buddy on the drums like always
Mr Drums. Buddy Rich 🥁⭐🇺🇲
4:31 Classic American ball busting , they truly had a deep friendship
Buddy could war a Sweater a Suit or even a Bath Robe. Buddy could and would play the most devastating wonderful sensational drumming that ever happened. You most certainly have to consider that the man Buddy Rich was most certainly One of a Kind.

@@tessagus2 He's ignorant because he saw Buddy as being amiable? Buddy & Johnny were great friends. I've heard Carson wasn't the greatest guy to his staff & wives either. So if I say Johnny was great guy, I'm ignorant too? Who cares? Some celebrities are ass-holes at certain times. If you played your part correctly in Buddy's band, no problem. If play like shit, Buddy wants to kick your ass. He did go overboard back then. He'd never be able to get away with threats today.

They always mess with each other . Love it
The Greatest
MY GOD
The end is where they took the Caravan drum solo from in Whiplash
Buddy was funny to, lol, what a great vid, thanks op!
Darn rental kits. Is that one of those no return jobs? Classic
How many solos do we have to see to realize that he was the best drummer around?
🐐 🥁
When better than that comes along how will I know?
I hope Buddy found Nemo.
For someone with a so called bad temper, he never complained about the wrongly configured kits they kept serving up to him on tonight shows.

That’s because a true musician who can play their instrument has the confidence to play on any instrument as bad as they are presented!!!

truthbtold You’d think after all his performances on the show, they would try to get the drums right for Buddy. It must be a non Buddy fan that kept organising it for him....or a total dim wit.

O melhor
He never practiced because he was always on the road.
Post more please! I’ve never seen these before! Oh, and I just did a tutorial on the lick he did at 2:02 if anyone wants to learn that...
Eight months after the bypass surgery.
He certanly wasn't in his best physical shape. Nevertheless, to me he is the only musician that I know of that never stopped improving and bettered with age. He never disappoints.
4:15 Johnny is right on the money. Why the heavy sweater?

Pretty sure that's the edited West Side Story solo.. 🤔
Was this his last one on The Tonight Show?
That first high hat bit... Seriously, wtf?

Buddy, what’s with the sweater?
The best drummers are jazz drummers. The best guitarists are the older country guitarists.

Ever heard of Django Reinhardt?
I can’t tell....Supra or Supersentitive..? After all these years, why wouldn’t they know he doesn’t require a second rack tom.. Did Gene Krupa ever appear on this show.

I wasn’t able to see the strainer clear enough at any point to tell but his personal snares during his last Ludwig endorsement were Super-Sensitives (bronze or COB).

Roy Beckerman the only available video of Gene appearing on the Tonight Show was in 1962. Donald O’Connor was the guest host. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dISl2aeck6S0qJc.html
