what he lacks in the physical department is made up for in how ahead he is of everyone on the pitch. combined with his elite technique he’s able to constantly unbalance opponents to create space for himself+the team. truly a world class midfielder

Kroos is a great player,but like Pirlo his defensive skills are pretty bad. Love his body feint.

Pirlo and he both have played as defensive midfielders and that too with less defensive cover. As a DM he's very well positioned but yes lacks in physical strength.

@@mifjr9558 position was/is defensive midfielder. They may lack physical abilities needed for defense and expected from defenders but both of the players are/were good at coordinating defense and making tackles etc. Role is different from position, although the very definiton of regista/deep playmaker requires good defensive attributes.
