I’m not going to say Toni isn’t bleaching, but as a woman with a dark complexion and Lupus, my skin is the lightest it has ever been. The sun can cause Lupus flares. Between the layers of sunscreen, staying in the house, heavy Retinol and steroid use to prevent scarring, my skin just hasn’t been tanning lately. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Some ppl said it was originally taken by a black man and then it was DM'd to her, but regardless, *SHE* should've been where the buck stopped. I don't hate Mo'Nique. In fact, I agree with a lot of her viewpoints on certain topics. But this was not it. I have walked my dog at dawn/dusk, in a bonnet, plenty of times. Nobody cares! I feel that black women should be able to wear any piece of fabric on their heads without decry. Scarves, bonnets, hats - ALL JUST FABRIC. Some ppl travel because *they have to* and so beauty takes a backseat. Going through airport security, waiting around, running to the correct gate (that sometimes switches last minute), boarding a sardine-packed plane, being up in the air, dreading the need to use the bathroom, surviving turbulence, etc. - IT IS ALL HELL ON EARTH for a lot of us. So Mo'Nique is going to have to forgive some ppl for not giving a single f*ck about their appearance while in transport. Can't believe a black woman has to be told to #LEAVEBLACKWOMENALONE .

On average, the black person is well kept and put together (because we have to be to survive). It is only occasional do we see these moments. So no, she’s not telling us that at all. Everyone has an opinion about Black women. We can choose to ignore their personal opinions, or allow it to control our emotions. I don't let their problems bother me. Also, I have Lupus and yes, it affects our skin to lighten and our hair to change, and I get judged about it from US. And if she is, it's none of our business.

Someone always talking about Black women and Monique just had to join in. I guess that's what I don't like about what she's saying. She's not necessarily wrong but why are you telling us what to do? It bothers me much more than Trick Daddy because honestly if a beyhiver didn't post this somewhere none of us would've even heard it and even more of us don't care.

Get judge by US too for trying to darken my skin with self-tanner from lupus making me noticeably lighter too. Sometimes it’s hard to wrap my head around it so I just focused more on minding the business that pays me as your comment suggests. Anything extra makes me more stressed and fatigued anyway so 🤷🏾‍♀️

I agree with you about it being none of our business. Instead of trying to shame her by talking about the color of her skin and looking like Amber Rose, let's hope she is feeling okay and let her know she is beautiful.

Monique posting that picture was setting up the lady in photo for verbally abuse. We know how horrible the internet is & she knows that too. She really could’ve just said “ma’am your dress is tucked underneath” or she could’ve minded her business, like most of us do 🤷🏾‍♀️

Perhaps Monique is so used to being scrutinized for how she looks that she feels like other BW need to operate under the same kind of fear. “Stay on your toes 24/7 so they don’t see you slip and hurt you like they did me” is how it sounds to me.

Yes Toni Braxton also had alot of facial surgery done too. Sha'Cari is not to be played with. Trick Daddy is so unimportant. Beyonce is beyond unbothered. I wasn't a huge Beyonce fan until l saw her in concert a few years ago in Germany when l lived there. I feel some type of way about the Karen movie.I am here for the lewk. I love it. Please continue this series. Your insightful commentary on any subject is always genius in my opinion.
