Miguel Alves Mariah sounds good too, she came before Toni. Both of their voices have aged, but that’s because they have such big ballads. Mariah’s has slowed down on touring, & is working on her album that is coming out this year. Both of them sing in lower keys now but that’s because of aging. DIVAS nonetheless though

Patrick D. Wright Jr. Toni came out before Mariah lol. And Mariah doesn’t sound nearly as good since almost a decade. I love her... my favorite, but I have to be honest.

I know every one says Whitney ,Mariah , Celine were the vocal trinity of the 90s and rightfully so, but not just because they had some of the best voices, but also that their incredible technique and styles in the way they sang was simply unusual . But if you put it in black only , it would be Whitney Mariah and Toni. For some reason , even though not all our black female singers of the 90s were as popular as the ones mentioned above . But they can surely more than hold there own live on stage , . The thing is, Celine may have had a beautiful voice , and sang some of the most beautiful songs . But live on stage her vocals would not be as rich and a sensual as Toni's , Regina's , Brandy's or even even Monica's voice etc. And for e.g Mariah is an amazing singer studio or live, but mostly in studio she is . On stage live if she goes up against singers like Aretha , Patti , Regina ,Whitney, Cece Winans , Shirley Ceaser, etc , Mariah's voice would not sound as strong and Powerful or rich in comparison to these other pure black soul and gospel singers But Mariah has a whole lot of amazing technique to her voice . Something only a hand full of vocalists have. And That's one of the main reasons she's one of the trinity. But Whitney Mariah and Celine are the trinity for more reasons than one,

Anyone doubting this isn't live should go to around 3:42 and hear her flub the word live slightly. Though the microphone is filtered it is definitely a live performance. This girl has always been able to sing! and her muscles are incredibly tight from her condition which makes it very difficult to catch your breath which can also be heard here.

Yesss! She even sang the wrong lyrics for the second verse I think. Where it supposed to be "I can tell by the look on your face", instead she sang "can't you tell by the look on my face"
