TONGA: Bus ride around NUKU'ALOFA (Pacific Ocean)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Tonga, Pacific Ocean - bus ride around capital Nuku'alofa by bus, island of Tongatapu, Tonga . Let's travel to Tonga and let's go for a bus ride around Nuku'alofa, the capital city of Tonga in the South pacific and let's see how it feels to be sitting in one of these vehicles and riding around town Nuku'alofa with the door wide open. Nukuʻalofa is the capital of the Kingdom of Tonga. Nuku'alofa is located on the north coast of the island of Tongatapu, in the southernmost island group of Tonga.
Tonga is a Polynesian kingdom of more than 170 South Pacific islands, many uninhabited, most lined in white beaches and coral reefs and covered with tropical rainforest. The main island, Tongatapu, is protected by lagoons and limestone cliffs. It’s home to the rural capital of Nuku'alofa, as well as beach resorts, plantations and the Ha'amonga ʻa Maui, a monumental coral gate from the 1200s.

Vic, I totally agree with your comment about staying in budget hotels. If you want to get up totally refreshed the next morning, you need to get a good nights rest at a hotel that has good and comfortable beds and mattresses. The last thing that you would want is to try to sleep on a mattress where the spring are popping out of the mattress or the mattress is sagging to the point that you are falling out of the bed. I would also like to comment that I always try to avoid staying at hotels that are located at or close to international airports as you will hear the noise from the planes flying in or taking off from the airports virtually all night long. The Airport Hilton Hotel in Dorval (Montreal) is a perfect example of this. The airport is so noisy that no one can get a good nights sleep, and yet because it is operated by Hilton Hotels you are paying top dollar for a room.

+Michael Friedman You are absolutely correct Michael, I have been travelling for so many years and have stayed in a wide variety of hotels in my life but the primary target for me, at this point in my life, is to get some rest and not to have to worry if someone comes in the room drunk, if someone snores, etc...

Lovely video of the bus ride around the city of Nuku'alofa. The music while enjoyable was really very loud which after awhile can become anoying. I am assuming that the bus drove around with the doors open because this created a nice breeze for the bus driver and the passengers as well. I know that the heat and humidity can really build up in the bus while it is driving around the city of Nuku'alofa with the sun beating down on the roof of the bus. Given the age and the condition of the bus, I can imagine that the bus ride is certainly not a smooth one, and that there is no air conditioning in any if these buses at any time.

+Michael Friedman You are right, the music can be very-very annoying. One day I arrived at a place around 45 minutes away from the city and I had to sit down for a few minuets, I was so dizzy. Of course, there is nothing that you can do or say, this is cultural after all... and yes, it does get very hot at times, none of the buses have A/C...
