    Hey I noticed when combining the two sources your tone gets quite dark. Those are 2 bright amps, so what’s happening is a phase cancellation of sorts, it doesn’t sound like they are adding up properly, as the high end would remain intact otherwise. All the best!

    @@gabrielglenn1714 sorry, I'm a full-time producer and don't always have time to check my youtube comment replies. Anyways as for the solution, it would require adjusting the phase relationship of the two amps. This can be experimented with by use of the "Time Adjuster" plugin in Pro Tools and I'm sure many other DAW's have a similar tool. Delaying one of the two amps ever so slightly on a sliding scale will help determine when the best possible phase relationship has been achieved between the two sources. However sometimes this cannot be achieved and the truly better option is to just capture 2 separate performances with those 2 separate amps as there is next to 0% chance of any phase issues occurring. With any singular sound source being captured with more than one mic there will be discrepancies in phase due to both the distance of the microphone from the source and in this case mainly due to the differences in speakers between each amp. A speaker moves forward and backwards ever so slightly moving air and generating sound in the process. The manner in which each of these do that process can be different between the two amps, there can be cycle intervals where the resulting sound waves oscillate in phase with each other and then cycles in which they don't which can cause cancellation. Not to mention if these are recorded in small rooms/ poorly oriented rooms that can further induce phase issues due to reflections, especially at higher volumes. Simply having acoustic panels won't solve this.

    I have the same setup, I do wet/dry with the Fender Wet and ran clean / Vox at edge of breakup (been experimenting with stereo recently). It is such a great balance and the Vox fills out the mids quite nicely as demonstrated in the video. I love how gain pedals will make the amps react differently based on how they are set, headroom, etc. It makes for massive amounts of tone sculpting options.

    I've gotten really into stacking guitars recently, and this is great interpretation or the idea. I literally stacked 20 guitars (between a bass amp and a Vox AC15VT) on a 2 minute intro, playing drones all in D plus 3rds and 5ths, each one tuned to a Low, mid and high. It's very hard not to turn up the monitors the you're listening back. I'm very proud of it, even if I've probably got to deal with phase issues later, but I'll get to it eventually.

    Call me weird but I like to put my ac15 completely dry but medium reverb on my deluxe reverb for the wet part of my signal. I drive the ac15 a bit for some mid compensation and it almost always sounds way more fun and ethereal than play a single one of either amps. Also if you have a stereo chorus, use the vox for the clean signal to get a really nice iconic sound. I do love both on their own in their own way but there's something very beautiful in the combination.

    Two amps is awesome. I'm hoping to get a Rocker 32 soon which is a stereo tube combo amp, and combining it with my Orange OR15 for a wet/dry/wet rig! Run two 112's on either side of the room then use the internal cabs as the dry sound for the or15!

  • @therewasascene

    My man. I have thought about this as well :) with that rocker 32. With an orange in the center it’ll probably work great. I ran into issues with my amps sounding too different from each other so when I tried to do panning stuff it didn’t sound like panning so much as it did swapping between two totally different sounds, but with all Orange I’m sure the blend will be 👌🏼

    Vox AC30 clone + Yamaha G100-210 mkIII with sansamp classic diy clone is my go to, you got all the tones you really would want as the sansamp can get a bassman tone, a deluxe or a boss ds pedal tone all in a box. Yamaha for the sparkly cleans, sansamp for a boost\lead and Vox for... well Vox. Live I only use sansamp directly into my boosts and fuzzes tho, as I have a DI box.

  • @jamesha175
    @jamesha1752 жыл бұрын

    wow on the clean sound both amps were so similar that one of them was redundant. ok on the 2nd slight gain the fender alone sounded better than the vox alone and both together. 3rd example was great with the difference between left/right. "if you can't afford two different amps then blah blah blah..." then yalls should get a used Line 6 pod and then it's all good.
