The statement made by M about "the media mogul on his luxury yacht" at the end was a reference to Robert Maxwell's mysterious death 6 years earlier on his yacht.
I love Jonathan Pryce in this movie. He's having a total blast and you can tell. He also plays Elizabeth Swan's father in Pirates Of The Caribbean!
Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer (who plays the Admiral) starred together as middle-aged lovers in a British television series "As Time Goes By".

It ran on Norwegian TV around the time that this movie came out, which made it odd to see them bickering in the movie. 😂
Michelle is top tier. Love her. A real coup getting her for this role as she was already an established action star in Asia. My favourite Brosnan Bond. Fast paced, sleekly shot, and action packed with great set pieces, a fabulous score by David Arnold and of course the awesome Michelle.
The actor who plays the Admiral was in a long-running BBC comedy series, with Judi Dench, with an on-off relationship! (Just Good Friends)
If they had made this movie today, Carver would’ve been cast as a young Zuckerberg-type guy who wants to control social media.
So! As much as I love Goldeneye, this was actually the very first James Bond movie that I ever saw! It was on at a friends house, and we watched it during a slumber party back in junior high. He had rented it from the video store and I had never seen anything like it before!!! I remember coming home and telling mom what I had watched, and was freaking out about how cool it was. She said 007 movies were too intense for me… but that Christmas, she got me my first VHS collection of James Bond movies. In the random box, there was Goldeneye, The Spy Who Loved Me, You Only Live Twice, The Living Daylights, Live and Let Die, and Dr. No.
It's not really that movie was prophetic, that sorts of things with the medias was relevant even back then, it's just that people starting to ask questions a little bit more ;) By the way, Q would make his last apparence in the next bond "the world is not enough" (1999) because Desmond died before the movie released. So please, appreciate his last moments when you will react to your next 007 reaction :)
Yes that was indeed a young Butler as a Royal Navy Sailor from HMS Devonshire
Thanks for another fun reaction! I really enjoy this film, even if GoldenEye is my favorite. Another terrific cast and a contemporary, prescient plot. And two, count ‘em, TWO great theme songs. Both the Sheryl Crow and K.D. Lange ones were good enough to have been used for the opening credits. On to The World Is Not Enough, which also has one of my favorite Bond theme songs.
Geoffery Palmer who played the gungo Admiral was a well-known British actor. He was probably best known for the gentle comedies, Butterflies (1978 - 1983) and As Time Goes By (1992 - 2005) with none other than Judy Dench. If you like milder comedies, these two series would still be entertaining due to the melodrama aspects.
Wow, another Bond I haven’t seen since it came out! I remember saving the newspaper clippings for the ads and posters. I loved how obsessed you both were with Gerard Butler’s one line and very brief moment in the film, I thought that was 😄. This has been such a roller coaster watching all the Bonds with you two. Can’t wait for the next one!
Hong Kong was still a British territory at this time so a Royal Navy ship being near Chinese waters would not be unusual.
Jonathan Pryce was a great villain in game of thrones. The high sparrow.
My favourite Brosnan era Bond movie
There was a Visa card ad soon after the movie, with Pierce Brosnan and Zhang Zi Yi riding a tuk tuk in Thailand or Vietnam. She was famous just then after Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
fantastic Bond movie. this is the franchise finding its sweet spot in the action blockbuster era. not only action set pieces that still hold up today but incredibly rewatchable for performances and the details in the "quiet" dialogue scenes u dont notice 1st time around
Michelle Yeoh drove a bike on tge roof of a moving train, in a Police Story movie. She sits so uptight in the motor boat.
This was another fun ride with you both, THANKS for that. I hope later on you try Ian Fleming's other 'gadgety-car' book-to-movie, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang :)
Just found your channel and have been really enjoying the Bond reactions.

@@Flix2Us you aim to please I imagine?, anyway another two installments to go before ending a Bond era, also I recommend looking for in your spare time some of the behind the scenes specials of Bond that's available on KZread such as Inside Dr. No and so on.
As if any of Bond's lovers are going to forget him. He's probably Alpha widowed every one of them ! 😅
A motorcycle falling through the roof doesn't interfere with business in hand.
As Always Love Seeing Your Reactions To All These Great Movie's
007 left the cold war era for a plot of info wars...different times, same game! but, Jonathan Pryce is certainly the most Terry-Gilliam-y villain! and Elliot Carver is the real cunning linguist!
He's got an Edifice Complex.
I like your Mom's comment about Carver going on to head FOX NEWS... FOX NEWS probably took Inspiration from this Film....

More like CNN or MSNBC than FOX News as they are the so-called news organizations that report only the news that fits their political agenda.

This is a fun one that get unnecessary hate.
Love the Reboot reference
What happened to the fight scene????😢😢😢😢
Richard Krajicek saw his future wife in the movie. The secretary fired by Carver.

More like Robert Maxwell, the media mogul who "mysteriously disappeared" from his yacht in 1991, and whose daughter has gained notoriety in more recent years...

It screams Rupert Murdoch these days. It goes to show the plot was ahead of its time.
Watch Scream 6!!!
What is going on with the bouncy camera??!!😮
Head of Fox News? More like CBC or CNN.
Honestly I feel this is one of the worst Brosnan Bond films, the other being Die Another Day.
Thats the Maxwell's for you
