Welcome back to the FK8 club!! For overheating on track, drivers have been able to best mitigate the heat by: - Open grill and vented hood (J’s racing should work perfect) - PWR / C&R track radiator and intercooler - All of the Dream Automotive cooling add - ons ( hard lagged Downpipe / Hard lagged turbo shield / Hard lagged water pipe etc. ) - Oil Cooler with PWR / C&R core ( they should be releasing their own kit soon but for now people have been using the HKS kit and replacing the core ) I’m sure I am missing a few other things but those combinations of cooling mods seem to help the most for FK8 drivers to track with no issues in the middle of summer and I will be following this build path as well when the time comes 👌

To turn off traction control, have it in R+ mode and hold the TC button for longer than usual. There should be a message that says it's fully off. You can do it in sport mode too by putting off the e-brake, pressing the brake pedal in, and pressing TC off and on, then e-brake on, no brake pedal, TC off and on, and then e-brake still on, press the brake pedal, and then TC off and on. You'll know that it's working because the TC light should be flashing. This method doesn't work in R+ mode though.

This is super dope, congrats on the successful runs, Im glad the civic is back. Its funny to hear the car so quiet on track though. Ive always really enjoyed a more tame exhaust rather than straight piping things, but even so its weird not hearing the honda go brrrrrr. Also Ive heard that friends have really good luck with Koyo Rads for track use on their newer civics. Im not sure how that applies to the Type R specifically but might be a good starting point.

I've dealt with the same issues with the 10th gen si as well. Could only get about 3 laps max on a short course here. We did; open grille, intercooler/chargepipes which helped a lot. Don't get rid of the turbo and DP heat shields if you can help it. they really do help a lot, you can squeeze the turbo blankets under them. Don't get a big intercooler, it will block air getting through the engine bay and actually make temps worse for tracking it. The HKS one is a good size intercooler still allowing air to pass around it and is rated for up to 600hp if I remember, its plenty for the car unless you plan to make a 1000hp k20, idk at that point. Another big upgrade is a vented hood to help exhaust the engine heat, just be careful with rain and daily driving with a vented hood, water will get though the engine cover and mess with stuff. Grill opens her up and also the blanket for the turbo inlet is ok, but doesn't really help with cooling in terms of releasing the heat from the charge pipe, so your cooldown lap, the temps can drop slower, the gold reflective tape is what seems to have the success, even though I personally don't like it.

Can you fit a 2020 Grill apparently the larger grill reduces temps by as much as 18degrees? "One change you might notice on the 2020 if you're keen-eyed is a slightly larger front grille opening. This addresses one of the few issues we had with the Type R-on a very hot track day, we found that the car could overheat when driven aggressively. Honda engineers said the reshaped grille reduced coolant temperatures by 18 degrees on average in "high-demand" conditions."
