Watching them trot is relaxing. Nothing like a horse pulling a bike.

BAHAHA TOO FUNNY THE GUY HANGING OUT HIS CAR

It's all fun and games till one of those horses slip, fall, bust their face neck and everything else, then send you and your little cart flying. They make tracks for that with soft ground. The idiocy of some people and what they think it's okay to put innocent animals through never ceases to amaze me.

I was thinking the same thing... though they are very beautiful horses with great gaits, they wont last long when pacing on the streets like that.

Though trotters could be noted for an easy-to-ride gait, they were really developed because galloping on streets was outlawed for obvious reasons... so the townspeople thought, what about trotting? And so, a pair of trotters would happen to come alongside each other in the streets, and coincidentally go in the same direction at speed. Goes to show that you gotta put all the details and enforcements laid out with one rule for it to have a good effect.

Okay, I dont know about that - but a friend of mine went to Ireland to perform "hunt" (dont know the word in english - but the "race" with obstacels in the forest) - And the way the farmers treated their horses was, compared to Denmark, very alarming!

@Seamlas that was a race.it was between a fella from the north and a fella from dublin.the horses were not for sale.it was a fair race i was there at it.so get your facts right please.

You people obviously have no idea how hard that is on the horses joints. wether you're trotting or cantering on the street, racing a horse on pavement will damage their joints incredibly bad.

i think thats mean because the horses feet could be hurt and become lame. and there feet can crack and it gives them shock throughout there body

The horses stable was very dark and contained poor air, never went to the field (okay most people do not put their horses on the field either if they are very expencive becuase they are affraid they will damage their legs etc) When heard that I just lost something for Ireland (or travellser - sorry I dont want to offend enyone, jkust saying my opinion)

They did not warm up the horses, went straight to gallop, in very harsh landscape, for hours without rest and they but the sweaty horses diretcly back into the stable without any blanckets....

I wonder if they realise how bad this is for a horses legs on a road surface...

@HeyHayles7 it has never happen before.i have seen it happen on tv lots off times.i have been at these race,s for 6 or more years now and i never seen one horse been hurt.

@Yousafzai2009 its in ireland.we race for 2 mile and some start of doing around 35 mile an hour think thats around 57 or 58 kms

I don't like how the cars behind them are driving faster, like forcing them to run faster.. so sad.

What happens if one of those horses falls? Those cars aren't nearly far enough away to stop or turn in time.

It's mean o make them go fast on niche men and the traffic would spook them and he road looks slippery. In general the sport and carriage riding isnt bad but on the road with traffic IS

This video is taken in the UK, this is a tradition for travellers, these races are illegal as they are held on public highways and as a rule with no regard to welfare of their horses or anyone else. The following cars are full of yet more travellers who video and often bet on the outcome. As far as they are concerned any injury to the horses means just moving on to the next horse. Horse lovers here continuously try to buy these horses from the travellets to save their plight....but for each one sold they just breed more. Its not really worth slagging them off on here as most of them cant even read or write!!!

@barebackrocks its very easy fo u to say that.but its not good for a horse to jump 5 foot with 12 or 14 stone on there and land on there leg with that on there back.fact .on the road the notin on there back and the runnin smooth an flat.every horse gets lumps and bumps from work.my horse would be just as sound as any horse u have and prob better looked after,.so do juge what u dont no.. thanks

@wolfje92 this is bad but the carrage driving is not bad at all, and if you shoe the horse not against nature and no riding a horse is not against nature

tecnically yes its all bad but some of it worse than other stuff. Horses were made to run free and eat grass all day but that never happens any more so we just sit here and try to pick out the people that do the worse things like pushing a horse on the rode and ruining their joints and making them pull wagons messing up their bodies and minds and those that shoe their horses destroying their hooves... yet we all go back to our own horses and ruin them in our own little way.
