Just like UK had its [Stock Aitken Waterman] trio producing 80s and 90s pop, Sweden had its [Norell Oson Bard] trio producing a lot of Swedish pop at the same time. In the 90s, Denniz Pop and Max Martin in the legendary former Cheiron studio in Stockholm created music for the world famous pop artists OldSkuleNerd mentioned. Fun reaction, and nice shout out to ABBA and the influence of Sweden in pop music. It's wild that after ABBA Sweden became the 3rd biggest center of pop music writing after America and Britain. One big disagreement though: You characterization of Pop music, and in particular ABBA, was nothing but the "fluff" or ordering a pie and only getting the whipped cream. I get what you were trying to say, but it also plays in to the fallacy of pop music being just "superficial fluff without depth." That was exactly what the snooty critics said at the time about ABBA, and it's just the view that has been reversed over time, as musicians, composers and the public in general came to appreciate the layers of depth, and complexity in ABBA's music, both musically and lyrically. ABBA's music has had incredibly deep effects in millions of people's lives due to this complexity and depth. So many musicians who stopped to examine ABBA, or even tried to translate or play their stuff, have concluded "wow, there's a lot going on here, this is NOT superficial fluff!"

I used to be more into Blink 182, Offspring and Oasis back in the day. Abba on the other hand is childhood memories to me. My parents played them all the time when I was a kid. Yes, Tommy makes pop much more palatable, even enjoyable, for me with his spin on it! But I still prefer his heavier, classic, more metal music like his Gary Moore covers, (Still waiting for his remake of Golden Resurrection's "End of the World" which he did many years ago!)
