I'm a white guy and in '69 I turned 21 and loved Motown, most of it anyway -- The Temptations, Four Tops, Smokey, and many more -- and I STILL do -- but for Rock & Roll Tommy James was waaaay up there especially with this Hit of his. Oh, I forgot to mention I love the Blues; From BB King, to Albert and Feddie King, and of course Chicago Blues like Buddy Guy. So as someone posted to you already, Music Has No Color.

OMG soon after I came home from Nam in '73 and started working in the oil field of South Texas, I began going to dances at ol dance halls and listen to local bands which were great. After a few months I began to step in for the bass player and sometime the lead guitar play whenever I could. then one night I got my own 45 minute set to sing what I wanted to sing. People let me tell you all I sang was Tommy James music. After that Saturday night the kids (from 16 up to 19) that's all they wanted to hear. its long overdue, tommy james should be in the music hall of fame.
I'm almost 65 years old and I remember when this song and Tommy James other music were on the radio all the time. Amazing how he sounds so good all these years later. Classic

I think as you. Actually there are not no one song like this! Many greetings.
I've listened to this song for many years Now, who's still listening in 2021. Still listening 6/5/21 & I'm 65 Yrs old and will still be listening while I'm still standing. The song and this performance is Far-Out.
I'm a black guy, and in 1969 I was 17yrs and loved all cultural's of music, well most any way, the Dave Clark Five, Four Seasons and many more, but I must say that Tommy James and The Shondells was one of my favorite groups.

Another great timeless hit by Tommy. What a catalog of fantastic music. Why isn't this group in the RnRHall of Fame? Clearly overlooked and underrated for greatness...Come on all you people who do the nominations stop overlooking this group. Put them in while they're still alive and can revel in it.✌💙🎼

Still an Amazing voice. Brilliant.
This is a rare example of a live performance blowing away the original studio version. I never cared for this song until I heard this version. The strong vocals and great guitar solo here take this song to a new level. Tommy was one of those guys who actually got better with age.

Because these guys didn't play the original version. Studio musicians did. The Wrecking Crew. Tommy just sang.
STILL the best song writing and delivery. Tight band, great voice. Still in the zone, no matter how many times he performs his songs. Remarkable. Hall of Fame, come on!
Saw him tonight. Shook hands ... he’s a big, strong guy. Still does a heck of a show.

Crimson and Clover grove us over and over..🏴
On the day I had delivered my 29 years young wife (she passed away four months later) to the hospital I heard a neighbour playing this record over and over again. Every time I hear it I feel to lonely and helpless again.
THIS MAN NEEDS TO BE IN THE RnR HALL of FAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife and I went to his concert in Tulsa a few years back and this song brought the house down.
Doesn't get any better than this. I am 22 and feel bad that all the people my age have listened to the top 40 for their whole life and missed out on music like this. One of the best songs ever, and this version is the best for sure.

my dad sure put me on to beautiful music.. he took his own life this year. he will definitly live through me with music. i miss you, Dad
Tommy wrote this song. His favorite color and his favorite flower. He still sounds fantastic, just like back in the day.
I sure enjoyed his music growing up in the 70’s and 80’s.
They were the greatest, I grew up listening to this. I LOVE IT.
I was just a runny-nosed kid when I first heard Hanky Panky in 1965 and then heard every one of his hits throughout the 60s and early 70s; a great talent.
I love this guy's voice & the band. It's 2024 & I'm still listening from when I was mid teen. My big brother ( 15) introduced them to me. He passed away soon after.
They were one of the most underrated bands. Love this song.

The amazing thing to me is that he really still plays this song with authority. A real rarity.
I first heard this song when my older sister bought the album in 1969 and I was 9 year old. The song still sounds great all these years later.
I remember cruising to the beach, with a car load of teenagers. That song playing on the 8 track everyone singing along, that's memories.

I loved those days when the music played and we danced to these great musicians and now we can listen to them always.🎶
Had original album with Crimson and Clover on it that I played until I wore it out. Remember turning up the stereo and singing along, much to my parents dismay. It was tough trying to explain why Rock n' Roll needed to be played loud and enjoyed fully. My mom and dad are gone now, but it brings a smile to my face when I think about life and Rock n' Roll back when. Tommy James you rock!!!

I remember hooking up my freind's record player to my guitar amplifier, putting the amp up to the window and blasting this song all over the neighborhood. Just cause we could. Fun days and great musical backdrop! Love ya TJ
Listening to the old songs is like having a window that lets you look into your own soul. My mind goes bsck to the time snd the feeiling of those times. How it made us feel then and how much exactly the same it feels now. It has its own taste.

Tommy James was a chart topper back in the day.
That was fantastic to watch! Great audio too! Crimson and Clover is a masterpiece of musical heritage. Exceptional guitar riffs, finely and perfectly orchestrated vocals. First time seeing a video of it by the band. Thank you. My first slow dance as a young lad.

Tommy James definately one of the top singer songwriters and performers ever. Born may 1949 makes me 20 then. Life was good and music was just starting to pick up momentum. One of my favorite songs of all time.
My dream concert for sure, he never comes close enough to me.
I Love this song soo much, totally awesome!!! In the mood for this song, me and my kittens.....

Tommy James sings like a bird… very underrated artist.
I'm reading Tommy's book, & although I've enjoyed his material since the 60's & still love his songs, watching him perform does take on a whole different perspective. Glad he's out there doing his thing. Long live Tommy Jackson.
Psychedelic rock has a pleading tone to it. It's as attractive as the sirens singing on the rocks. It's a sweet enticement, like a pie curing on a windowsill. Psych rock is a love song to the frontal lobe.
