One of my favorite blues and soul artists, Tommy Castro is a triple threat as a great songwriter, a killer blues guitarist, and just an amazingly strong and soulful voice. Tommy’s won loads of well-deserved awards over his career: Bay Area Music Award for Outstanding Blues Album for his first solo studio LP, Exception to the Rule, as well as Outstanding Blues Musician... 2008 Blues Music Award for Contemporary Blues Album of the Year for his Painkiller LP... In 2010, The Blues Foundation awarded Blues Male Artist of the Year, Contemporary Blues Album of the Year, B.B. King Entertainer of the Year, and Band of the Year... and just a few months ago, Tommy again won B.B. King King Entertainer of the Year, album of the year for Tommy Castro Presents A Bluesman Came to Town and, band of the year for Tommy Castro & The Painkillers. Also, a Bluesman Came to Town reached No. 2 on Billboard‘s Blues Albums chart.

Thank you for this! We discovered Tommy at a dingy little blues club in SF way back when Exception to the Rule was first released (1996). He was playing at Grant & Green and when we heard the music coming out of the club, we instantly knew it was going to be a great time. We bought Exception on the spot and the following day, we bought Live from the Saloon. Been huge fans ever since. Daughter grew up listening to the blues. ;) Went to many, many gigs at Biscuits & Blues, Lous Pier 47, the Fillmore and on and on.

I so glad he survived COVID. Many of our great ones did not. I too love his work. Yes working hard should title a new song. That's all he knows is working hard. Thankyou.

Awesome! Thanks so much for this, love Tommy Castro. I've seen him and the Painkillers a half dozen times at Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz. Always such a fun gig--and killer performances every time.
