“Proceed, sir” Val Kilmer. Legendary performance. No one will ever play Doc Holliday like he did!
The "proceed Sir" as he casually goes back to his shave is a great line, and again drives home that Doc is a professional at his craft - neither shaken up, nor bothered by Ringo. Have always liked all these actors. Great movie.
Best Doc Holliday portrayal there will ever be. All the props to Val Kilmer.
0:54 Doc just leisurely putting his hand on his pistol while his feet are up just speaks so much about his character in this moment.

No. The entire cast was spot-on; there wasn't a bad line reading in the entire movie. Kilmer was awesome, yes. But so was everyone else. And I say that as someone who will fight to the death to defend the statement that Kilmer was the best Batman. He was the best part of this movie, but he didn't overshadow the rest of the cast.

There was some cheesy acting in this movie, particularly the whole "noooo" Wyatt walking on water water scene but its forgiven because the best bits are really good.
"I'm your huckleberry." is one of the greatest lines in film history. No one could have delivered it like Val Kilmer.
Val Kilmer got ALL of the good lines in that movie and delivered them exquisitely with that accent. He stole the show.

It's not just Kilmer's reading of his lines. It is the character's southern educated charm that Kilmer worked on and developed for the movie that was so attractive.
What can I say about this film that hasn't been said already? One of the greatest movies ever made with a cast like never before.

Well for Hollywood standards it was good - Still doesn't accurately depict that Johnny Ringo wasn't killed by Doc Holliday although the film attempted to make it look like it.
@rmstitanic8163

@@Quint1975 but in reality, it's not accurately known whether Ringo killed himself or was shot by someone else. But the fact that he had threatened to kill himself on a few occasions, and the that the last person to have seen him alive said that he was very drunk, does seem to point at suicide. But I'm sure Doc, or Earp would have happily of done Ringo had they had the opportunity.
66th Academy Awards - "And the Oscar goes to not Val Kilmer" Val Kilmer - "Dear oh dear, does this mean we can't be friends"
The line where Ringo tells Doc, “I’ll put you out of your misery”, says a lot about what the town knew already. Doc was suffering from tuberculosis. Everyone also knew that Doc was a gunslinger. Ready to go and his rep spoke volumes. Ringo was trying to instill a psychological weakness that he thought Doc had because of his illness.
I love how in Doc and Ringos first encounter, Johnny didnt quite know what he was gettin into messin with Holliday. And as the movie goes on you could slowly see it dawn on him. Alll up until they finally fought. "Fights not with you Holliday.", "Oh I was just foolin."

@@MrShadowfax42 Correct. Huckle bearer isn't even a real term. Never even existed until the 2000's.
If EVER there was a performance in a scene that deserved @ the very least an Academy Award nomination, it is Val's. I have watched thousands of movies over the years, and when he came out of the shadows, and said what he said, also how he said it, shocked me. Talk about being speechless. "That's just my game!" WOW.
Lack of fear is the most intimidating thing to encounter. Doc truly has no fear. His heart rate probably went up barely at all, and only from the exertion of getting out of his chair.

One of the best Westerns ever. All great acting performances.
"Barber?..." "Yes sir?...." "Proceed sir..." ❤🔥
Val Kilmer's standout performance is all the more amazing when you consider just how good everyone else was. All of the main cast members nailed their respective roles: Kurt Russell, Dana Delaney, Sam Elliott, Powers Boothe, Michael Biehn, Bill Paxton, and Stephan Lang...they all crushed it and despite that Kilmer's performance is still what we all notice first. Shows you just how good he actually was in this one!
@brianhardy5926
6 ай бұрын
I love that you mentioned Stephan Lang. Rarely is he brought up. I have continued to use his great line throughout my post-Tombstone life. "We don't go for no law dogs roun' here" Substitute current topic for "law dogs" to suit your situation. Oh. And now that I've gotten myself into a situation where I'm discussing Tombstone cast members. I didn't know Billy Bob Thornton was in the movie until I watched it about 20 times and finally recognized him. As usual, great job for Billy Bob. And since we're giving credit, yes, it's true that Val and Michael stand out in their performances, BUT, the cast gives credit to Kurt Russell for making the movie happen as it did. Without him, the production could have collapsed, and there never would have been a Tombstone.
Doc is just so calm throughout the entire movie! Even when he faces off against Johnny Ringo, you can see no sign of fearfulness on his face, but it's all too clearly seen on Johnny's face! Each actor nailed their character, especially Michael Biehn and Val Kilmer!

I love how Doc has a gun behind his back and acts like he’s going to draw the holstered gun with his right hand.
