I got to see a convention panel once with Michael Biehn (Johnny Ringo). He talked alot about his final showdown with Doc Holliday and how the director basically called him and Val Kilmer (Doc) over and said "You guys work it out. I'll film it." All the beats and moves were just worked out by Ringo and Doc.

While the story may have been romanticized for the movies sake the story was true. The Earp brothers, Doc Holiday, Creek Johnson, etc are real historical figures. The gunfight at the OK corral happened. Wyatt & Doc are both incredibly interesting historic western figures.

If you ever see an actual old photograph of the real Wyatt Earp, Kurt Russell really looks a lot like him. Of all the movies made about Wyatt Earp and Tombstone this one is considered to be the most historically accurate. The biggest difference is that I believe there were 2 more Earp brothers that were there along with Wyatt, Virgil and Morgan Earp.

❤❤❤ Nicely done, Emma. Place is real, this story is basically true just dramatized for our entertainment. The OK corral gunfight is best depicted in this movie. Several iterations have been made. Most contemporary was Kevin Costner's WYATT EARP. Wyatt's wives, other than his first, mostly of the common law or shacked up variety. The main gunfight was terrifying. Nine men, one with a shotgun, thirty seconds, thirty shots, in a space the size of a two car garage, only THREE died. Wyatt taught young John Wayne how to be a cowboy. Crazy!

Val kilmer, who played Doc Holiday, is one of the most incredible actors. He was such an amazing singer. You should watch "The Doors" where he portrays Jim Morrison and actually sang everything you hear in the movie. What's truly amazing is that the band members of The Doors couldn't really tell whether Jim or Val was singing. Another that's great to watch is the comedy called "Top Secret!" Where he's an American rock and roll singer in east Germany for a festival but gets caught up in a rescue mission. You'd get to see him sing a few songs.

Great movie. Val Kilmer is fantastic as Doc. The entire cast are fab but Kilmer steals the show.

I recommend more Westerns, like the classic "High Noon" and the epic "Silverado"! Subsctibed.

Enjoy the movie. But remember this is based Loosely on true American history. Many of the characters actually existed in the old west as Robert Mitchum mentioned in the introduction. Hollywood's definition of history is a story. This is American history read about it. This is how the United States was won and became a law-abiding civilization. Tom Mix another movie star over 290 movies. He was friends with Wyatt Earp.

Some great Westerns from John Wayne are The Searchers and Red River. Usually Wayne plays a hero type cowboy in his movies but those two are very shades of grey. Clint Eastwood's Unforgiven is a must see.
