And mind you most of these people are I bet you the kinds that haven’t even stepped out of the US. Greetings from Australia. I've just tried this: as I've had a lot of tomatoes of a farmer (I've cooked this before with just one tomato & rice): but this time I added everything except the cashews(because I didn't feel like them); it was very, very nice. Only it would have been nicer outside with my cast iron pot with a fire, but it's too cold. I cooked in bare feet & imagined the birds singing, to get the feel. The pandan leaves were a nice addition, yummy fragrance, thank you so much everyone involved, a really great effort.

@@caleighbocrie577 Hi, sorry I didn't get your message till now, for some funny reason. I think their internet just came back on because I've suddenly had several old messages from them, I've heard they had lots of trouble in their country. So I thought I'd finally answer your question, on how you scale it down. Half, half again = a quarter. Close enough will do. I don't measure 2 cups rice or 5, I just pour it in till it looks right. Sometimes I make varying quantities larger or smaller, it will keep well in the refrigerator after its cooked, also, and reheats ok. I always vary my recipes according to taste, ingredients available, even what I feel like chopping, if I've had enough I stop 😂 Of course some spices add flavour, just use common sense, if you don't like chili/pepper leave it out, if you like it hot, put alot. I suppose your looking for an exact 1/8 of a teaspoon measure, but sorry I don't do that. I've cooked it today without a recipe and forgot to put cardamom, even though I like it, hopefully next time I'll remember 🤣 and only used one pandan leaf because I didn't feel like putting more in. I forgot the salt till the end, then I added in heaps because we have a salty taste 🧂I only used one large tomato (other times I've used tinned tomatoes) because I got tired of chopping, and threw in dried onion as it was cooking, as I remembered I'd missed putting it in 🤦🏻♀️ If you need to be exact I suggest you write it down and the result, and make adjustments till your happy with it. Many country cooks improvise and don't have exact measuring equipment or even written recipes, but just learn from experience. Most of all have fun, make it an adventure, set the theme with banana leaves for plates, eat on the verandah, whatever you do make it fun, enjoy.

I noticed lately in so many of the videos your oldest daughter has such great table manners! She is growing up so quick and you can see how much refinement she has learned! You should be very very proud of her! The little one quite often looks up to her and tries to gauge the oldest reactions and she is learning slowly but surely BUT the eldest is giving her an excellent example of how to do everything like a perfect young lady! Well done you both as parents!! I so enjoy your videos and have learned so much - thank you! Blessings to you one and all!

Watching Grandma gives me a wake-up call. She appears to healthy- no arthritis, no hump back, no fat around waist, clear complexion. Her cooking must be healthy. She makes due with what has to work with. She’s very clean and uses clean pots and pans. Her food looks very spicy. I am sure ALL cultures of the world cook with strong spices or they prefer bland tasting food. This is her culture and if one wishes to follow the recipe, one can adjust. I am sure ALL cultures of the world have a smell to their body. I have spare cooking tools, I wish I could give her. She is an inspiration!

Haha, that cutting device you saw is called boti in my country, and it scares me too! But it's super helpful in cutting whole chickens, vegetables or anything really because you can precisely control the directions. And I don't think she was making this for her family only. Lots of village videos have been popping up and probably she was cooking for a lot of people or going to distribute it among others. :)

Ingredients in order of cooking: Cardamon; Cinnamon; Cumin; Mustard seeds; Cloves; Dried red chillies; Onions; Pandan leaves; Curry leaves; Cashew nuts; Green chillies; Ginger & garlic paste; Tomatoes, chopped + juice; Turmeric powder; Chilli powder; Salt. Cook, then add soaked rice and cook until ready.
That's so wild how she cuts them vegetables, I would have cut my fingers 1st try.. tbh

I really admire your channel that's real living growing and cooking your food outdoors which a lot of us Americans living in this so called civilized country don't know how to do what are pandan leaves and snake gourd from another video I'm really glad that you are allowing comments there's so much I could learn grandma is in better shape than me it has to be all that healthy food

The granddaughters enjoying nana's food are always the best part of these videos. So beautiful a lifestyle there I love it. Be blessed.
My comment is about The Tuna Noodles video: That was one of the most amazing videos of food preparation! No wonder over 8,000,000 viewed it!!! That lady is a star! She has amazing skills! This Grandmother, with her two granddaughters, has captured the hearts of the world!!!
The village environment is so enchanting, the soft breeze, sound of birds and crickets,it's perfect for cooking! Thankyou for the recipe, will definitely try 🍅
jamie oliver is shaking and gordon ramsay is quaking... lol kidding aside damn she got skills with that knife...
It amazes me how she slices without cutting herself on that very sharp instrument!
Anyone else feel like they have spent their entire life cutting vegetables the wrong way??? Shes a pro!! 🤣😂
I like your cooking grandma 😘from India
I would love to spend a month with this family to learn how to makes these beautiful dishes!
Traditional way of cooking. Marvelous 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Idk why... But these videos make me happy. Seeing grandma cook for her loved ones. With her hands with love. No measuring. No fancy gadgets. Just natural & full of love... Hey!!! The ASMR ain't bad either!!!🤗
This looks amazing. I can’t help but try to calculate what it would cost to make this meal in the USA. I don’t think I could afford it!

The girls are so cute and funny ! 😊😊Thank you
That knife that Grandma is using to dice up those veggies looks like a nightmare to me. If I had to use something like that, I would for sure be missing a couple digits.

Say hello to the young girls, from Ireland ;) lovely dish
Village cooking is the best and so relaxing. I love watching you ladies cook 💞omg that rice looks so delicious 😋🤤 Talk about a real home cooked meal . Everything you get is fresh and locally grown in the garden . This is real cooking
I marvel at her preparing food-often, without help! She puts some of our professional chefs to shame! She has so many admirers because we all admire and respect excellence!!! I’m convinced that mixed sports teams were not permitted because, early-on, the world would have seen male superiority debunked!!!
Beautiful family the two daughters looks neat in their dresses and clean God Bless all of u
Eu adoro assistir os vídeos dessas amáveis senhoras 😍

Love Grandma's Zen attitude!!! The rice looks so yum!! 💕
I have so much respect for this woman. She is so strong and skilled at what she does. Lovely to watch!
A few things to say. First off... I cut my hands just by watching the video . Second, these people must either eat the same thing 3 times a day. If I cooked that like that I would need a week off after! So exhausting!! And I’m 26 lol that lady must be like 80!!!! They are the food Gods !! I would love to make it only not chili’s for me :) keep up the good work grandma!!!

That food looks great. That knife work had me terrified for my fingers. I realize she’s probably been doing that for years. It just goes against all knife and tool safety.

I had the same thoughts about the knife! Get OSHA on the line!
I am in total awe watching Grandma chop, mince and slice using that knife to make her delicious food. She makes it look easy and I know it isn’t.
Watching that knife situation made me so nervous 😲
There is something utterly peaceful and tranquil at the sights and sounds of her cooking.
Love how clean Grandma is at cooking. I also love her beautiful dresses.
Your granddaughters are so beautiful may God continue to be with you and the whole family
Whatever grandma does, she does with beauty and grace.
That base of tomato, onion, chili, garlic and ginger along with various spices seems to be the "Holy Trinity" of South Asian cooking. My husband is Pakistani Punjabi. I use many of the same base ingredients making curry, biryani, pulao, etc. I am from Louisiana. I admire and enjoy cooking from the subcontinent. Food is always spicy in my home.
I hope with the KZread $$$ ur able to buy ur grandma a cutting board!!! 😫 Such hard working hands 🙏🏽
She has some knife skills. I would have cut myself a 100 times with the blade pointing up like that.

Yes its tough. My mother can handle chopping veges with this sickle but I hurt myself. In my village they use sickles like this to cut crops in the fields too. But since my birth I lived in cities , I found it difficult to handle this. Now even my mum uses 🔪 this kind knife.
Magnifique ! Tout est magnifique ! La grand mère, la cuisine, les ingrédients et les ustensiles, la nature, les petites filles ! Tout est magnifique ! Et le résultat est toujours très appétissant ! Je suis devenue accro ! 😉😍
I'm floored by what people can do with flavor, quantity and pure selflessness to care for others This is inspiring, I can only learn.
Amo ver a senhora cozinhar me acalma e transmite paz .
Que coisa mais linda, comida simples mas tão lindo o jeito de preparar 💓
