Tom Waits - Glitter and Doom Concert Experience (2008)

Музыка

A compilation of professional footage and fan films to reconstruct an entire Tom Waits concert from his "Glitter and Doom Tour" of 2008. I used all the released soundboard audio that had footage to accompany it to make a concert film that should make a good experience of what it would have been like being in the audience.
Listen To The Full Album: tomwaits.ffm.to/glitteranddoom
SETLIST
0:00 (Opening) - Ain't Goin' Down to the Well/ Lucinda
6:09 Goin' Out West
10:06 God's Away On Business
13:46 Hoist That Rag
20:26 Get Behind The Mule
27:14 Chocolate Jesus
31:34 Falling Down
35:56 (Interlude) Circus
41:20 Trampled Rose
46:33 Singapore
51:49 Jesus Gonna Be Here
57:05 Cemetery Polka
1:00:05 Green Grass
1:03:45 Hold On
1:09:24 The Part You Throw Away
1:16:02 Eyeball Kid
1:22:02 Dirt in the Ground

1:30:03 Picture in a Frame
1:32:23 Innocent When You Dream
1:37:15 Lost in the Harbor
1:41:36 (Closing) Make It Rain
The soundboard audio comes partly from Tom's "Glitter and Doom" album from 2009, and also NPR's broadcast of the soundboard of the Atlanta 2008 show from the tour.
There might be more unreleased professional footage out there of this tour, so we have to hope that it is released eventually.

I was first exposed to Tom Waits in 1986. I was in a huge transitional phase in my life. From that point on, Tom wrote the sound track of my life. He led me on a tour of my past and sprinkled magic dust on my future. I can't thank him enough.

To this day, the show at the Fox theatre in Atlanta was the greatest concert I've ever seen. Nothing else comes anywhere close. It was straight up magical. Everybody wandered out of the place in a bewitched daze. Whenever I meet someone else who was there, it's almost like we're reminiscing over an ancient ritual that we both once witnessed. I'd give anything to see him again.

I got a phone call from a record company in 2008. Someone told me they heard I would be interested in seeing Tom Waits in a small theatre in Antwerp that had been sold out in literally seconds on line. I had seen him years before in the Olympia in Paris, but this experience, seeing Tom arriving with his son in the afternoon behind the theatre and the concert at night where he clearly felt like a preacher before his congregation, was over and beyond. Oh HELL YES, glory be! I saw the Mobile, Alabama, stop at the Saenger Theater in my mid-20s. Now I'm 40, decrepit and able to understand every word better than when I was a youngun.

I hope there will be a physical media release, even with the fan footage. As an almost 40 year old Aussie, last time you were in my country was before I was born. So I always knew there was no chance to see you live. Owning a dvd/blu ray would be the next best thing.
