LYRICS :
Did you ever read Albert Camus?
The bit about how you gotta turn away from the world to understand it
Did you feel this too?
I was in a mindless kind of queue
But then I went a pulled myself right out
Found things just got a bit wilder
Haven't you heard right?
It's a truly absurd life
Tomorrow could be a big hole and the next day you could be a king
Can't return to my old ways
When the nothingness held up the days
And now come to think of it
I only got out of bed for you
I used to think nothing of the end
Repeating each day was my forte
Spinning out time like a spider with a web
Devouring every second I was fed
But then I went and sailed right out got lost
Found things just got a bit lighter
Haven't you heard love?
It's a truly absurd love
Tomorrow you could be a big kiss and the next day you could be a stone
Can't return to my old lives
Quite oblivious to all of the signs
And now come to think of it
I only got out of bed for you
Invited to the feast
Only had one grape
Always arrived ahead of time
But turned out I was late
I can see now the world does not care
And that's ok with me
So I never really needed a boat to sail out to the sea
Haven't you heard right?
It's a truly absurd life
Tomorrow could be a big hole and the next day could be a king
Can't return to my old ways
When the nothingness held up the days
And now come to think of it
I only got out of bed for you
Haven't you heard love?
It's a truly absurd love
Tomorrow you could be a big kiss and the next day you could be a stone
Can't return to my old lives
Quite oblivious to all of the signs
And now come to think of it
I only got out of bed for you

I wonder if Tom can tell how deep our love towards him has been rooted in our hearts. Every new song he writes gives me this warm feeling. How is it we have never met , yet something they sing about relates to us on a level that can't be expressed by the words in an ordinary conversation. (I have got a riddled mind, I know)

after having a very quick search about albert, i found that his philosophy about once you realise how weird and confusing life is, you can never get back, but then that made me realise, will toms music get weirder? if so, them i’m actually scared, as tom’s music is already weird, wonderful and confusing, also, i’m unsure if this is an insult or a compliment to tom

camus philosophy is not based on confusion, etc. he wrote of the clarity to see the complexity of life whilst knowing you are not this complex, feeling that you cannot grasp life in its true form and thus the absurdity of life becomes evident to us absurdism is quite a simplistic thought so i think well be safe from his music to become even greater ;p

It’s like.. this song was made for me. Obviously not really but I’ve been going through this exactly. I’ve been feeling down, not myself, lost. Lost interest in all my hobbies, my goals.. and this describes my feelings exactly, and motivates me to change. I heard this first sat on the floor with my kitten who listened as intently as I did. Thank you for this Tom, your songs always make me feel better x

Hi Tom, if you ever see this - thanks. Just, thanks for everything you do. When you played Big Pot Of Hummus during your show in Warsaw last year something switched in me and I'm on a self-acceptance journey since then. I also recently re-read my favourite book from highschool, which just happens to be Camus' The Plague. Seeing and hearing the crossover between one of my favourite authors ever and my absolutely top 1 songwriter ever is an experience I can't even describe. So thanks for everything Tom.

It is beautiful. I haven’t read Albert Camus but I will. After I knew Tom gonna drop a new song I had been excited the entire week, and it does not disappoint me! It’s a lovely and wonderful song! ☺️

Tom, have you just been through an existential crisis? I've just managed to beat one, now I'm stronger than ever even though I'm only 15, and your songs are just so relatable it's scary. Also your music is amazing!
