The Heartbreakers seem very chill and great guys. R.i.p Tom Petty.

I also had a ‘65 black J-bass with matching headstock!

Norm wasn't lying though. That band sounded better and better together until the day Tom left this earth. They were the fine wine of Rock n' Roll.

I love when he spins it towards the end. You know he's in love.

If you close your eyes, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between Ron and Tom Petty's voice, very close! Beautiful bass!

I swear, everyone in that band (the Gainesville contingent at least) has the same voice. Petty & Campbell are nearly indiscernible.

Seems like a super cool guy - I love the hash story from the European tour back in the day. Classic.

What year was that black jazz bass. I've seen precision Tele basses before with only one pickup but never a Jazz bass with only one pickup. If anyone out there knows, please let me know. Also, it's too bad that guy didn't demo the bass while he was there.

The black is hiding the bridge pickup. A 65 most likely. The Mark Hoppus Jazz Bass has a p bass pickup in the neck and no bridge pickup though. Solid, they have p bass necks as well and a strung through body. Cool colors.

Is that a mid 60s J bass? Right after CBS purchase?

Lollipop tuners but no binding on the neck? I'm gonna say late summer, early fall 65.

Carlo Von Sexron Thanks. I have a 63 P bass. The other day I played a 66 J bass that was amazing.

But the most important question is how much did he pay for that Jazz bass…?

im not sure who that guy is but the bass player of the heartbreaker was Richard hell and then billy rath. the band was headed by johnny thunders. thats the real heart breakers. johnny took toms band to court unfortunately johnny blew his legal fee money on dope. I understand Johnny did beat up tom pettys drummer pretty bad over the situation. Anyways tom petty does his thing good but as far as rock and roll is concerned johnny thunders is the heartbreakers. Norm your a new york guy also, you should be ashamed of yourself.
