here is my interpritation. I don't think the girl in the video is "lost" in the way people seem to inteprit. If you look all the other "missing" people in the video are still there. They are just "lost" metophoricly- they changed. now this girl has changed drasicly- (maby she stopped being affectionate) but she doesn't realise how lost she is. She only first realises she's lost when her lover starts seaching for her- she folows him like- "it's me, I haven't changed" but along the way she notices- it's not just her lover seaching for her- its her family and friends, they all wonder what happened to her. She sees an old poster and realises how long she's been lost for. at the end she see's how desprate the seach for her was- how mad its driving her lover. And only then is she found.

I think the girl in the video is a symbol for a new lover. So Tom Odell tries to love some1 new and he searches for her. Not in action but he wants actually a lover. So the "missing" is the metaphor for his searching. And one scene is very special: he gave the girl he is searchig one piece of them. What does that mean? I guess it means that he actually found a lot of girls who are very nice and kinda "perfect" for him but he cannot realize them or see them. So he just walks by and doesnt even realize that this woman is actualy the kind of woman he is searching for. And why? He is too damaged by past relationships he had. (Btw sry for my bad english :( )

From my own perspective "Another love" can be interpreted more or less like this: Regardless if the main character here is a man or a woman, the person lives his/her life in a constant search (through the flyer scenes) of a person like his/her previous love, and the constant way of life around the world (or streets) makes him to -somehow- get in touch or meet with someone who thinks she might have or be what he's looking for, but when she tries to make him notice that she's someone quite similar of what he's looking for, or that she could be the one for him, he just can't notice that, because he's so blind around the previous image from her past love (in black and white) that he just can't stand to accept woman no matter how similar she is or if she has everything that he is looking for (due the scene where he just rejects all the efforts of the new person and how she tries to make her notice as what she really is), or maybe is just fear of the new person, fear of a new relation with someone somehow similar (or maybe fear of being hurt or abandoned again), and that's the moment when he just turns around and decides to escape once more into his own memories and flashbacks of the previous love, he just gets into his own mind and has all these multiplied portraits of how she looked in the past and that's all what he can remember at this point. But, even tho he got into his own personal space (the building and room that could represent his own life), he didn't fully closed everything, he could easily portrait how he just closed any door behind him (so anyone couldn't reach him out IRL and sentimentally), but in a few scenes back, either consciously or unconsciously, he left those breadcrumbs (the flyers) for her, and also let once in his place, he let her in and into his own and deeply intimate life, take into account and notice that in this special scene he just repeats in a more emotional and effusive way... "I wanna sing a song, that'd be just ours But I sang 'em all to another heart", 3:32 This is a moment of inflection, where he struggles between living in the past with his memories of her and at the same time where he shreds and throws the flyers (memories) away and to the floor, probably realizing he/she can't live like that any more as he realizes that there's person around him, and that even with fear of loving and being loved once again, but sad that he/she wasted so many time (love and tears as well) living like that with only memories, this is when he/she regrets that and tells the new person that he wants to sing her, to let her know that can be only theirs and not something from her previous love, and that moment is where he also decides to make a change from now on, by stating: "And I wanna cry... I wanna fall in love" This moment is the key of the whole story, this point of inflection reflects that even damaged, even hurt, even loved, even feeling so empty without that guy/girl from the past, he can't live like that any more, this is when the last scene comes up, proving that he/she finally decided to have another chance, to open up and grab someone else's hand, and that hand is coming from that person who realizes that even knowing his past, she decides to choose him and this is why she extend her hand to him, so at the end, both, knowing that loving is a hard decission to call, they decide to give themselves an opportunity of love and being loved. And basically that's how love works, right?, we'll always have fear of new people arriving at our lives, some will just stick with the past and don't look around or just being blindfolded, but at somepoint, regardless of any feeling about it, when one grows up, and truly decides to move on, gets some strength from deep inside, and gives love another chance into our lifes, maybe with fear or doubts, but the point of how many loving stories began was with a simple step to start, with a simple but huge demonstration... to hold their hands.

Personally, I believe that Tom Odell isn't infact searching for a 'new lover' but searching for a woman he used to love. The wanted posters he is giving out is a black and white picture of a woman. What does this mean? Well it represents that he is searching for a woman he once loved, furthermore the black and white picture portrays something/someone from the past. He eventually hands the poster over to the woman he is searching for. In the eyes of the veiwer she is the same woman from the poster, however at first Tom does not recognise her, showing that she has changed in his perspective.Therefore he is fustrated and upset that his lover does not recognise her former self which Tom Odell is searching for... so he runs of. She then stops pursuing him to give him space. While this happens she looks at both the television and the bilboard which both are advertising devices, she now relises that she has changed and now again pursuing her lover. At the end Tom relises that she is back to herself and they hold hands portraying that they are back together as a couple.

I've always thought he was singing to a new person he is with and he couldn't bring himself to fall in love with the new person because he is damaged by his previous love. This short film gave me a new perspective. Now, I feel like he is talking to his lover. He is telling her how their love isn't like what it was before, maybe it isn't love at all since he cannot bring himself to fall in love with her now. He wants to but her transition gave him so much pain he is in the phase where he's just so empty and well... mad. Maybe he means that his lover has changed so much that she's moving away from him too fast that her old self he is so deeply in love with is lost or missing. He is so lost and empty himself as well and he just wants to feel, but perhaps he doesn't even know how to feel. All his tears has been used up on their love when he "lost" her, when she changed. It was all another love. I truly love his music because we can receive so many interpretations from just one line and the meaning of the song is different for each person and for himself and I just love when people write such songs that are very emotional and deep.

I know it's been 3 years, but god finally I understand the song. Well, I believe there's two definitions to it. It could be him in his search of finding a girl of his dreams but whatever's stopping him was the result of the previous relationship. However, he could also mean another love as: it's been the same lover all this time. There's been too much time spent and they went through a lot together. And after all this time, it's almost as if he forgot who she really is. The girl who he fell in love with is no longer there, like almost loving a different person as she changed so much. The things that he used to do to make her happy, singing their songs, to fight for the relationship, no longer works for her. So he's stuck here not knowing what to do. He still loves her but who is he really loving? The girl he once knew or the current state that she is in. That's what I feel though just sharing here haha.

I love this video so much. Genius work. I love the double meanings of "missing" and the representation of it in this video. The boy misses the girl so much and cannot quit it. Even the girl shows up to him, he doesn't want to face the fact that the girl he's been thinking about has already changed. He just thinks she's missing. And the girl has never realized what their breakup has done to him until she sees that she's still all in his mind and heart.

I love Tom Odell's music! I think that this vid might be about someone he loved (the girl) but the girl went missing, like she was killed or something. She can see him but he can't see her. My interpretation's a bit different too xD I thought that the song was about how the guy is always searching for that woman to love and who loves him back truly. And he keeps searching and searching and is so caught up and stuck with the pain of the past (like maybe a broken relationship that he can't let go of or something) and of fruitless searching that he does not realize that the girl he was so desperate to find for was just right in front of him, and is in fact chasing him. All the girl could do was love/stay with him, until he finally realizes... But that's just me I guess? xD

Have you ever heard of the concept of twin flames? Because this is SO a perfect representation of what it stands for. When two souls find one another one or both of them run away from it and can't accept what's in front of them until they're ready. The flyers are the mind chatter the runner feels because they can't get the "other part of their soul" out of their head (the other person). And the way that the more aware partner chases in this video? Absolutely beautiful and truthful. The jist of the dance between the two people is that the more aware person knows and the other less capable person (whether it be emotionally, spiritually, etc.) can't accept it. They can't accept the love and truth the person is offering. I'm a hopeless romantic so I want to believe it's true and based on my life experiences currently I'd say it's highly possible. Experience has been a BITCH of a teacher I'll say that much. This is an absolutely amazing video and strikes a definite chord with me.

I am 61 and just saw this bloke on Graham Norton's show. He truly gives me hope for the future of the singer-songwriter-and he was only 23 when this was posted…wow… (And we have too few pianists!!) I understand what this song is about now. He is trying to start a new relationship whilst trying to deal with the pain from the previous one. His “past girlfriend” is following him. He is searching for her, not literally but I hope you get my point. He can’t start his new relationship because she is still behind him, still chasing him.

In my opinion this is easily his best song , like bro this his songs have been getting better but this is a masterpiece
