When listening to these podcasts I always forget Nate and Koa are part of the absolute best Pipe and Big Wave Surfers, Surfer of the year etc. and literally just setting the absolute gold standard. You are so down to earth and have such a casual way of speaking about your own surfing, I tend to forget how literal big wave surfing pros like Tom are probably intimidated by some waves you rode, your approach or what you have achieved. As just an intermediate surfer that just does it for the fun yet takes himself to serious doing it sometimes, this is insane. The level is so untouchable for us average surfers/humans...

Tom is describing a haemothorax ie a punctured lung that leads to an accumulation of blood at the base (depending on how the victim is positioned). They often involve an accumulation of air at the top but outside the lung as well ie a pneumothorax. When they occur together as they often do it's referred to as a haemo-pneumothorax. these can be bad enough of course and the bleeding can be life-threatening but when theres a one-way valve created in the lacerated tissue, each breath sends some air into the space outside the lung. eventually thgis puts pressure on and can stop the heart. a tension pneumothorax. The tube Tom refers to is necessary to drain the lung of blood and air and allow re-expansion. The recall of the visual and auditory experiences suggests periods of instability in that classic "near-death" way. sketchy AF. Great podcast chaps.

Tom Lowe's a legend 👑 great cast guys
Great guy, inspiring
19:10 I feel that , being older, Uncle by Hawaii terms..I used to scrape pegs on a liter bike in the Colorado Rockies for years, never wadded it up, but now, I pick my days, moments, spots, Nothing to prove, to myself or anyone. Very Thankful for all the wonderful adrenaline packed moments. You guys are at the Top notch of your sport, enjoy yourselves and keep it real Love all your vids Cocoa Beach Shout out
36:40 "floundering like a little stunned fish..." Insane metaphor. Epic conversation. Stay safe guys. 👍👍🍻🍻🤙🤙🌊🌊
Best podcast ever Guys with the Banter from Tom Lowe another Level 🙌💯💯💯💯💯💯

I’d love to see them surf a big jersey swell or a Florida hurricane swell
Lowey representing the UK, yes yes - loving the merch, that pillow looks both comfy and kinda disturbing
Travel is the best education. I wasnt necessarily on regular trips but i got to go visit my dad on the barges out in holland and got to spend a bit of time visiting him in the philapines in the 90s when all sorts of shit was happening with kidnapping and guerilla warfare .. but never saw any of that and the people were SO nice. Taught me that everyday people are nice everywhere and dont believe all the fear mungering SO good to have a UK character from the South West on your show
Kept that quiet Nate ! Go Tom ! Legend ❤
Aloha Koa and Nate! You guys make me miss home so much haha I just can’t wait to get into the ocean. I was wondering… can you guys talk about how you read waves? How’d you get good at it or how do you know where to position yourself? Like, what do you guys look for? I feel like the two of you look for different things idk, I wanna know bc I’m ass at looking lol

Lately I’ve been missing home so much and I just been on a Nate and Koa podcast binge HAHA thinking hmmm maybe I should pick up my dad’s old board and just go learn
Just nice to see Tom chillin’ in a Frank Zappa T. 🤟
Them 2 always cracking me up😂 and now Tom too
19:16 difference right there between a 40 year olds mindset (like mine) and a 30 year olds like Koa. I remember that 30 year old mindset
So good to see everybody healed up and having fun. Great stories and uplifting moments. Many Thanks.
Sandiego coast line has the waves this year
Havent' seen a wave like the one Koa rode those years back
I wonder about what kind of health insurance pro-athletes have in terms of what happens when they are traveling, especially out of the country. I recently read an article about Eimeo Czermak getting a 55k medical bill after getting injured while surfing in Hawaii.
Great podcast need to get small microphones that clip on your shirt. Holding the big bulky one the whole time looks like it gets old and people can't use their hands to express their words. Tom charges got photos of him packing big barrels at Peahi
The Phrase "well I knew it was going to be full on" describing feeling inside when puntured lung is the perfect way to describe those situations. "Full On"
One more comment--getting some of these "underground" guys...is awesome.
Lacrosse, Cricket, geeze guys. When Tom spoke on football it was not the American version (REST OF WORLD). Keep surfing fellas!!
Epic interview, 3 humble hardcore chargers, nice and unassuming. Zero hipster cool Dudefish bollocks you see so much of nowadays. Ya know, the cut off trousers no socks crew holding a twinny mannnn!😅

Can you add sections of the video
Lacrosse is the sport “with the little net thing”. LOL!
I wish you guys could put out a podcast every week! Love this one, best guest ever except for Eli!
Can you link Tom's KZread channel? I can't find it.
Thanks guys!
Never heard of Tom Lowe before but he got a really cool personality and he can talk too! He should start his own youtube video.
9:58 had me crying lol 🤣🤣
When kids are elementary age i think its like 3-4 hours of school including art science projects so its easy for moms to use schools online to homeschool alot of the familys living on boats and sailing the world use this method
From st Ives 😮
epic stream
