“Some small degree of linguistic ability” I swear to god this man is so modest I actually can’t. He got a DOUBLE FIRST in classics from CAMBRIDGE and I’ve studied Latin you literally have to be so good at languages and clever in general to be that good. He is too much

How can you het a double first in a course? A double first means second? I through your can come in first or second only I mean he came in double first in classic, but what were those double first in classic? There umpteen courses in classics in Cambridge I looked it up.

@@paulinetayloe9988The Classics program at Cambridge is broken into two components. Tom was interviewed and asked to explain the double first in Classics. The way he explained it was the Classics studies has two components. One component is the "broad studies" (the student learns the classics from both the Greek and Latin areas) and the second component is the specialization in Latin or Greek. His double first is for the broad studies and his specialization in Greek.

Every time I listen to Mr. Tom Hiddleston I feel my IQ increasing and my brain regenerating its neurones! He is one of the rare few actors (in this era of "Glitter and Glamour" , in the entertainment industry) who respects the intelligence of the public. Thank you Mr. Hiddleston, and thank you Torrilla for uploading :)

I think this is why people gravitate towards Tom Hiddleston. He's very good looking, you get the feeling he is a perfect gentleman but can be playful, romantic, serious, and yet he can bring it, on top of which is he is extremely intellectual and can be very academic at the best of times. And he shows his vulnerability. The total combination is very, very sexy.

In spite of not listening very clearly to the Lady-interviewer as she seems to forget to locate her micro-phone properly for a better audio, Mr Hiddleston not only displays patience at all proofs but also a kindest of attitudes and walks the "extra mile" in replying in all of his wisdom and authenticity because he is fully aware of who's going to be the final recipients via his dialogue with his interviewer: his fans, admirers and public in general to whom he is addressing to, in short his supporters, thank you Mr Tom Hiddleston and thank you also very much to "Torrilla"

That is EXACTLY what he was doing. He has said (in other interviews about "The Night Manager"), that he quoted Le Carre´s novel ( which this is based upon) to his sister's, when he got the script & they both said to him "Wow! This Jonathan Pine character is YOU!" I was thinking that vety thing while watching him. But if you wstch ANY of his performances, there us always an honest element of his real persona in his characters. He one described himself as "A little boy who likes to be other people and play make-believe." What an incredible person he is. I feel very fortunate to have seen him play do many diverse people so well. His intellect, perceptive & intuitive nature, kindness, idealism, articulate way of explaining everything (the man is a natural-born teacher/philosopher), not to mention his linguistic ability, musical ability, mimicry that is astounding & dance moves. He's a Renaissance Man & I hope we get to enjoy his talents for 50 or 60 more years!!🎉🎉🎉😁😁😁

This is my second time watching this interview. The first time was when I found out about Hiddleswift and I was admittedly shocked by it and kind of upset about the whole thing. Now that it's over I can enjoy his insightful answers and depth of thinking. The fact that his sisters thought Pine's character was so close to him, is very telling now, especially the line about being a perpetual escapee from emotional entanglements. It was stated by one of his friends, after the breakup, that he is a commitment phobe. I hope he finds the right person that he can trust. He deserves it as he is an intelligent and kind human being. I also loved that he chose Ralph Fiennes as one who showed courage in the roles he has selected. Fiennes is marvelous and has been my favorite actor for years until Tom took the slot. I think the Tom is his generation's Ralph Fiennes. Best of luck to him personally and professionally.

I was absolutely captivated by his answers how he lets us know in each of his roles he feels identified with. I could say that when watching him as Jonathan pine I could really feel him in there so much of his humanitarian kind soul wanting to help, the way he cried and suffered the loss of a human life so many parts of the series where a key to his true nature indeed. Talking as a romantic loving man as such and a passionate man too. Now I'm truly convinced I wasn't wrong. we all know this is not the first time he gives in so deep in them but personally felt his true essence.

Insightful post, MR Hiddleston always so patient, so noble, so kind and soft, a very very honest actor-gentleman indeed. Many, many thanks for sharing and providing the link, also to the interviewer Ms. Anne Thompson for "Indiewire" but most specially I would like to thank TOM for taking the opportunity to unfold before our very eye another layer of his personality : that "collector of other people's languages" that "perpetual escapist from emotional entanglement" that "self exile, creature of the night and sailor without a destination" no wonder why Hiddlestonians connect with him and feel so very much identified with the characters he has accepted to play : in a way we all are incurable fragile vulnerable profound Romantics like he is and his magistral actorship help us to achieve a kind of "catharsis" very few true actors catalyze deep within us so we may come to terms and have a grip to face our own reality. I thank TOM I thank you Torrilla May 25th, 2016

I keep thinking he is afraid of someone wanting him to give up some of his acting (which would be a stupid request) and by extension part of himself, in committing more the a relationship with them; I also(after reading the interview where someone asked him what type of boyfriend he was) think no one has reassured him of his role in their relationship with him and that on top of being a child of divorced parents makes wanting a permanent relationship very difficult.

So thankful for your posting, really : what has stricken me the most was that excerpt he alluded to he read to his sisters from the opening of chapter three he recalls at 05:50 “ collector of other people’s languages, perpetual SKP from emotional entanglement, self exile, creature of the night and sailor without a destination" because last night you see I watched "High-Rise" in a theatre and while reading/watching him inhere say what he read his sisters, I immediately related it with that moment when Dr. Laing expresses his “Angst” while his face is bluish in paint and he seems to row amid all that clash and strife going on inside the building's revolt at one of its peak stances and one is very touched by watching his eyes' sadness and connecting with that utter pain and disenchantment in his look for what’s crumbling inside that tower, that same essential pain, disillusionment, disenchantment and anger Johnatan Pine experiences before resolving his battle against Roper. In most of the characters MR Hiddlestone has so splendidly portrayed, for example in Loki’s game of hatred-vengeance-reactivity, in Coriolanus’ defense and submittance, in Hank Williams’ deepest pain disyuntive, etc. MR Hiddlestone has shown that very rare quality, skill and ability to make us connect in the very instant with the deepest layers of our own human complexity by watching them each reflected in every flaw, in every damage, in every pain and suffering all of these intense characters reveal in their coping with reality. Yet, Dr. Laing and J. Pine to some extent have come out saved, rescued and reconciled with themselves by finding whom to lead, protect and safeguard: in Dr. Laing’s case finding his lost family in those psychologically bruised women and children left astray in the aftermath of High Rise. The final atmosphere created with that eerie conclusion with Maggie's voice at the end is not only most revealing of an appalling truth we have to deal with everyday but also reinforces the pro-social urgency call enwrapped via this splendid allegory created by Wheatley's direction & Thomas producer based upon the brilliant J. G. Ballard's novel social-premise. Please go watch it and hope I didn't spoil it too much for you guys, mention apart deserves the use of the songs selected and the Clive Ansell's ost to create fantastic anti-climaxes in the very style of Kubrick's

Tom Hiddleston has quite a distinctive feature of his face which can be transformed into any character. That's an advantage of him for being in any type of character and blending in to the role quite easily. He has quite a bit of this and that in his facial look, and also in his own characteristics. He looks conservative yet modern at the same time. He can be very cute and adorable but he can be very tough, dark sexy and seductive, too. It's very easy for him, physically--and not to mention his ability to perform, to be in any role.

Not many actors are that open, honest and authentic about themselves. Sure, it's not easy. It is also great that there are some good Interviewers who are not asking always the same questions again and again about things they weren't allowed to talk about. What's the point in doing that?

Oh hey, I finally noticed the scar on his forehead. Tom saying Thomas Sharpe was partially inspired by Peter Cushing (and other del Toro spoopy nerdshit) is really cool 'cuz for a long while I've felt like Tom is a modern-day Peter Cushing, you can put him in the stupidest cartoon garbage and he'll bring legitimacy to it with conviction and class.

@@geekemedia On his forehead, above his left eye he has a scar where a door hit him as he was bending down after a performance of Coriolanus. It needed four stitches, he talks about it in an interview somewhere.

I've seen a few people say that he goes on and on about something and it gets tiring. I cannot disagree more. Sure his take on things are expressed longer than you would expect, but if you just have the patience to sit and listen for just a few more seconds, you would truly enjoy and understand what he's trying to say. Tom digs deep into what he's saying which is actually a bonus-- you'll see why. He sort of speaks as though its a story that slowly intensifies and ends with a big climax. In the beginning you may think you aren't really catching what he's saying, but as he progresses you'll think "Holy crap why didn't I think of this before?" Only true listeners who are patient and will first pay heed to what is being said before you outweigh the outcome to the process will love Tom's way of elocution Heh so I just typed out a monologue on the way Tom speaks.. SEE THATS WHAT HES DONE TO ME JEJXJEBSOSFFN
