Tom Hanks In Conversation With Gabby Wood

Ойын-сауық

Tom Hanks live from the Southbank Centre talking about his new Uncommon Type.
Out now: amzn.to/2lIqjyW
Actor, screenwriter, director and producer, Tom Hanks unveils his fisrt collection of fiction. Uncommon Type is collection of seventeen wonderful short stories showing that two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks is as talented a writer as he is an actor.
A hectic, funny sexual affair between two best friends. A World War II veteran dealing with his emotional and physical scars. A second-rate actor plunged into sudden stardom and a whirlwind press junket.
A small-town newspaper columnist with old-fashioned views of the modern world. A woman adjusting to life in a new neighborhood after her divorce. Four friends going to the moon and back in a rocket ship constructed in the backyard.
A teenage surfer stumbling into his father's secret life.
These are just some of the people and situations that Tom Hanks explores in his first work of fiction, a collection of stories that dissects, with great affection, humour, and insight, the human condition and all its foibles. The stories are linked by one thing: in each of them, a typewriter plays a part, sometimes minor, sometimes central.
Alternatingly whimsical, moving and occasionally melancholy, Uncommon Type is a book that will delight as well as surprise his millions of fans. It also establishes him as a welcome and wonderful new voice in contemporary fiction, a voice that perceptively delves beneath the surface of friendships, families, love and normal, everyday behaviour.

I have never seen Tom Hanks interviewed when he wasn't entirely charming, no matter what he is talking about. I get the feeling that if Tom was your executioner, you'd still like him.

Hanks is one of the world's greater actors-but he hasn't a pretentious bone in his body.

That is sooooooooo right on about the Typing class lol... I'm more than 20 years removed now from high school, and the typing class I took for I think a half semester in my sophomore year, no joke, has been the most useful thing I took in ALL of my high school time, all 4 years, in a practical every day sense. Nothing else has been more applied to my everyday life than the professional typing (tho my best is only about 55 wpm).

Kevin W it has been useful . I remember taking a typing class in middle school in the mid 90s when the internet was introduced to our school district.

IN THE REALITY... TV WORK PLACES ARE A NEST 4 SOME PEOPLE AND IT IS THE WAY IT IS * When everything is gone, remain only the ego/narcisissm * The most form of curative 4 brains is creativity * Shows use all kinda creativity * BUT tv is a substitute of family * So how can a person what use a media/work to cure him/herself to cure itself, teach something to other people?? Been through a lot of stuff mean u have experience, but people at home not... and they are not protect, if they were... they dont use tv to be educated
