As a pilot, I can tell you that the amount of time it takes to get to that level of comparability in that caliber of plane is immense. He has obviously spent an extraordinary amount of time and money flying with instructors and on his own. Good for him to pursue that passion...

@@kingjohan1335 Piloting a Cessna 172 during a clear sunny day with light wind is easy with a bit of training. But now try to land the same plane and you will find it much harder than cruising. Now, before you can even land, you have to do a traffic pattern and there is always the possibility that you might stall and fall to your death, unable to recover. To make it even harder on yourself fly IMC. You need hours of training for that, because during the worst conditions you can only rely on your instruments. Flying a plane is not like driving a car. Driving only requires 2 dimensional movements, while flying requires 3 dimensional movements. General aviation is actually more dangerous than driving per mile.

Tom Cruise has been a pilot IRL since shortly after the first Top Gun. He enjoyed the role so much and the feel of flying, he decide to get his pilot license.

He has flown a lot of Emergency Medical supplies, etc., and People into and out of Natural Catastrophes around the World. He even owns and Pilots his personal Boeing 727 Passenger Jetliner. I believe I read he's certified in like 12 or 13 different Aircraft.

He has been flying a long time, but not for as long as or on the same level as most commercial pilots. A lot of commercial pilots flew in the air force, navy, marines,etc and flew more hours in training and during their tour of duty than Tom has probably flown his entire life. Huge difference between someone flying a few hours on the weekend or during the week and someone who has flown all day 6 or 7 days a week for decades

No denying that was a GREAT episode. Tom Cruise is one of America's greatest movie stars and personalities. Love him! And I was not a pilot but I was in VF-1 during ODS.

@@lix5544 The actors went through 4 months of fighter pilot training but do not actually fly the Tomcats (they do actually learn to fly and fly Cessna single prop aircraft. All the exterior shots in the film use CGI to make the two seater fighter appear to be a solo seater.

I just saw it today & l am SOOOO grateful to see this on the big screen. Nail biting anxiety for 2 hours, mixed with sniffling tears l could hear throughout the audience. Am DEFINITELY going back before it’s out of the theater. I’m 40, but fuckkkkkkkking hell i am still reeling!!!! Busting out the dvd & Nintendo game tonight!!!!!! INCREDIBLE MOVIE!!!!!!!

My Tom Cruise story. My dad is in the movie business and he took me to about 20 movie premieres in Hollywood/Los Angeles when I was a teenager and their after parties(when the venue allowed). I can’t count how many movie stars I met. But Tom was the most impressive by far. His character was a pleasant surprise and pleasure to witness. The majority of actors/actresses didn’t want to mingle at the after parties much or at all. He’s the only one that I’ve ever seen literally spend hours meeting and saying hi to people, literally a lined formed, he looked at each person in the eyes, making them feel like they were special and genuinely engaging with every single person. I asked my Dad about that and he said Tom considers the moments he shares with his fans and supporters as his duty as a lead an actor and to the film. Truly impressive human.

No matter what he does, Tom Cruise simply cares deeply about that magic excitement of movies and he's never lost it. I love that he cares even more about realism and practical effects. In an era of massive cynicism, Tom Cruise keeps the fun and wonder in movies. The fact that he flies jets is just incredible haha

Im convinced Tom Cruise is an Alien 👽😂 he is absolutely amazing at everything he does, no human can be that multi talented, and he does not age at all, looks fantastic for someone in his 60's 👌🏻

Could you imagine being a 18yr old kid in WW2 and hearing these things flying overhead.

Total respect for Cruise - He is the definition of owning it. From his own stunts to learning how to do everything himself whether it's flying, racing, scaling a high rise and more. You have to appreciate his skills and his acting talent. I love his humor here. I love the "get it done" mentality.

It would be nice if he saw his daughter more and included her in his work.. But besides that personal opinion, I think he's pretty awesome. He some how manages to make the Mission Impossible movies rate backwards. They get better as they go. That never happens in a film series. He seems nice also. Or at least entertaining...lol

This reminds me of the spin training I had to do as a pilot. The parachute is really more for some kind of structural failure rather than just the loss of the engine.
