Tom Brady has surpassed Joe Montana as the GOAT - Stephen A. | First Take

Спорт

Stephen A. Smith, Max Kellerman, and Damien Woody dissect New England Patriots QB Tom Brady. Stephen A. says he is the best leader and player in the NFL despite his love for Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. Max Kellerman on the other hand says he wasn’t even better than the Kansas Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes in the 2018 AFC Championship Game.

SF was defending champs and were expected to play the Bears following week. in 1986- Montana was 98 yds and 2 INT (and pick 6) for a 33 QBR vs the Giants in 49-3 loss. in 1987- Montana was 108 yds and an INT for a 42 rating in upset loss as 1 seed to Minnesota.

    @t- milt 2014 Conf. Champ. wasn't fixed, he just threw two picks to one touchdown and didn't do anything when his defense got him 4 picks. I agree with the 2015 Conf. Champ., but that makes him 6-5. Barely over .500. That's not GOAT status. You can't be considered the GOAT if You barely win half of your playoff games. Brady has more than 3 and a half times the playoff wins as Rodgers, but still has WAY better winning percentage. Brady is .750, Rodgers is below .500:) And like I already said, he has JUST one playoff games with a 90+ passer rating, 3-5 in the playoff since his lone Superbowl win, and 5-6 on the road in the playoffs. 40-41 on the road in the regular season, 1-7 in the last year, 3-10 in the last 3 years. Brees isn't that bad and has worse defenses.

    Greg Jennings talking about how Aaron Rodgers would take shots at his coach in the meetings. Teammates lose moral. Chad Johnson talking about how Bill Belichick takes shots at Tom Brady in the meetings. Tom takes notes. Team gains moral. Tom Brady is a more coachable quarterback. If Aaron would take his ego out of it, listen to his coach and take less money like Brady does, maybe we'd see Packers in the Superb Owl more often.

Because Brady recognized a defensive lapse and audible'd intelligently resulting in an easy run for the RBs. A QB's job is much bigger than throwing the ball. Sorry Max!

Out of all these guys, Brady is the only one thats top 3 on every category. Rodgers isnt a TD or passing yards leader. Brees isnt a TD or efficiency leader. Peyton isnt a passing yards, completion % or TD:INT efficiency leader. All these guys were 1st round picks, high second round. Not Brady. In wins, Brady has more post season wins than all of these guys have appearances, combined. He has more post season wins than almost every singular NFL franchise. Yes luck has won him 5 Superbowls and 9 Superbowl appearances. Yes, luck has won him the records he holds. But, if he is a lucky guy, then what happened to his luck during the helmet catch, what happened to his luck when they lost to the Eagles in the Superbowl. He's a great player, and people hate him because they're jealous that their team doesn't have somebody like Tom Brady. I'm a Panthers fan, and I acknowledge the fact Tom Brady is the Goat. People bring up the Deflate Gate (which was extremely stupid) as why he's not the goat. Hmm, he didn't win 4 Superbowls before that bullshit came up. The only reason the Deflate Gate was a thing was because the Colts were beaten so badly, they had to come up with an excuse on why the Patriots beat them down. And people still claim Joe Montana is better than Brady. They loosely hold on to the thought "Montana is better than Brady" because they refuse to have it in their mind that Brady is the best. They turn away from Brady for Rodgers, but if Rodgers started winning big, people would hate him. Yes, they got lucky with a coinflip (because the coinflip is based around luck), yet they were still able to drive down the field and score. So what Mahomes never touched the ball, the offense made sure they could secure a win without a challenge. Rodgers is overrated, he's won one Superbowl. Brady has won 5. Stop comparing Rodgers and Montana to Brady, stop saying Brady isn't the Goat and stop acting like Brady is lucky. You bring up the fact that the Neutral Zone Infraction saved the Patriots from a game winning interception, that wasn't luck... that was the linemans incompetence.

    Mr. Steal Your Gurl If you look at the career as a whole then yes Brady surpassed Montana largely due to the QB friendly era that allows QB’s to not get hurt like they used to. But if you look at Montana’s prime 9 years when he won 4 SB’s (then really broke down physically), he was at a level greater than Brady, Took Brady 12 years to win 4. But if longevity is part of your determination then Brady stands alone. I still prefer Montana in his prime.

    Mr. Steal Your Gurl like I said if you factor in longevity. Brady needed a longer career to accomplish more and he was able to due to the QB friendly era. Still take the core 9 years of Montana’s prime, and Brady can’t touch that.

  • @DoofusChungus

    @DoofusChungus

    5 жыл бұрын

    Brady can touch Montana's prime, because even whilst not in his prime, Brady is going to a ninth superbowl, how many did Montana go to? Besides, Brady has only played 5 more years than Montana.

  • @ericlind6581

    @ericlind6581

    5 жыл бұрын

    Mr. Steal Your Gurl Geez you keep missing my point. All of your rebuttals include longevity in the equation which I already stated that if you factor that in, then yes Brady exceeded Montana. But Montana played in an era where a QB couldn’t last that long cause they were knocked out with concussions and broken legs and all that. Look at what happened to Joe Theisman. Montana was knocked out a few times with broken ribs and such. Players are taught to not hit the QB like that anymore. So yes Brady had longer career and yes his longer career as a whole is the greatest but in Montana’s prime 9 years, he was unsurpassed even by Brady. So again I don’t disagree with you if you factor in longevity. If you compare t their first 10 years as apples to apples then Montana is greater. But due to Brady’s longer career he exceeded Montana but benefits from today’s style of football.
