    I've had a back operation back in 1975. My back hurt worse and worse as the years went on. I was given nothing for the pain. I ended up in so much pain I couldn't work. Finally I was given hydrocodone which let me do light duty. After several years I was given a higher dose which got me to my 30 years. That meant I could retire. I did and immediately went on total disability. I was offered very high paying jobs but couldn't do them cause of the pain. Now Iay in bed most days, with severe spinal stenosis of the exit forminal openings of both sides. They said they can't operate any more, so what am I supposed to do? No more meds. No life at all. Pain is terrible and my mind can't take it. What am I supposed to do? I'd like an honest answer!

    When I was at my lowest with opioid addiction, a ruptured colon was literally ALWAYS on my mind. I once went 21 days without taking a shit. That's right. For three weeks, not a single thing went out. NOTHING! I was so nervous. But I couldn't stop taking over 10, OxyContin 80s a day. That's like 200 regular 5mg Percocets a day. So my gut just slowed to a total standstill. And I had been prescribed powerful laxatives, but they just wouldn't help. I'd drink these wretched saline solutions that were laxatives. Nothing. I even succumbed to sticking a suppository in there. I had to. I was so worried. Though I knew deep down there was a solution the whole time - WITHDRAWALS. You begin crapping almost immediately. After just 18 hours from my last opioid I was filling a bowl up. But to be in withdrawals in exceptionally hard because you're so sick, it's extremely hard to tolerate, especially when you're flush with the best opioids on earth and have 100s and 100s of them. But I cleared my bowels. I eventually weaned my habit and got on methadone (illegally, because I didn't want to go to those sleazy clinics or have my name associated with them) and finally quit. I'm clean today. But I can't believe Arnold's colon burst. That's awful. That's a total impacted bowel. I was 'this' close to being right there in that hell. Thankfully I quit. And it's good Arnold is better, too.

  • @mickobrien3156

    @mickobrien3156

    BTW.. People that never were addicted to opioids ask... 21 days without a crap... "How did you tolerate that awful constipation agony?" I didn't. I was on powerful opioids and they deaded the feelings of constipation. Although even with massive pain-killers, by the 15th day and on, I began to feel constipated. But even still, it was a surprisingly mild feeling. It just mentally had be worried. But it wasn't like a normal person being constipated. Because I was taking pain killers. Obviously. And you don't, at least I never felt bloated. To look at me, you'd never know I wasn't going to the bathroom. And I'm a naturally very thing guy. I'm 6-feet and 160, so I look healthy. I wasn't. But I looked fit the whole time. I don't know how 3-weeks worth of food can not be bloating a person, but I never looked stuffed up from the outside. What happens is the fecal matter becomes incredibly compact, like steel balls. They get extremely dry, too. And it's like trying to push clay through a straw. It's just to thick and too dry. But withdrawals is an absolute immediate remedy. 3 days later I was empty, completely empty. In withdrawals everything comes out. Thankfully.

    William Wills HAHA! You are familiar with this problem, eh? That's exactly the kind of crappy crap you have... it's like little stones. Haha. Oh, it was awful. And you'd be pushing so hard. It's like trying to push dry clay through a thin and clogged straw. I'm better now, though. The remedy is so easy... stop taking opioids. Problem is reversed in less than 24 hours. But addiction is another beast. And once you're completely addicted to opioids, just going 24 hours without a pill is like climbing Mt. Everest. It's brutally difficult because those hours move so slowly when you're in the hell of opioid withdrawals. If you have any pills in sight, you will say to yourself, I can't do this. And you'll keep popping the pills until you run out of pills or you literally explode your colon, like poor Tommy did here.

    I always got severe colon infections that felt near fatal. 4 days I the hospital, twice. I wasn't all opioids for me, it was just Morphine and Fentinyl. I can't believe your system didn't back up and cause cyclic vomiting or severe infection, like in my case. You must have been eating nothing by the end. That's how Elvis died, on the toilet. An ignominious end for the king. He had a Mega-Colon. I believe he did have an ischemia (lack of blood supply) in the colon in addition to the addiction problem. But you'll only hear that the drugs caused it. I wonder if Mirilax would have help the king. Be afraid young man , be very afraid. THREE WEEKS OMG THE PAIN

    Instead of accepting Vicodin, ask for ibuprofen and plain old paracetamol which is over the counter meds. This is crazy giving out these type of meds to people that will obviously heal anyway. Ibuprofen will help with any inflammation and pain and the paracetamol will look after a rise in temperature. People in the US you need a revolution and kick your Doctors in touch with reality. I even watched a video where a woman was given Vicodin after childbirth. Are you kidding me! Childbirth has been happening from the beginning of time. My mum had me with nothing and her mum also. This thing where, there's a pill for every ill is utter nonsense.
