"Could you write 5,000 words on the influence of Norse elements in Gawain?" I would've loved to have read Tolkien's paper on that topic. Judging by the following scene, Tolkien went well out of his way to make the paper on the topic more interesting and engaging than the Professor had anticipated.

Interestingly enough, Tolkien later translated Sir Gawain and the Green Knight into modern English.

This whole scene reminds me of a lost kind of college, where a professor sees the spark of genius, and they encourage it to grow and bloom, nowadays its so soulless and corporate you wonder how many sparks got snuffed out because they never found someone to help it out.

I had a creative writing professor like this. I wasn’t able to sign up for his class do to an issue. The first day of that class, I sat outside his classroom for fifteen minutes, listening in. Finally, he found out a student was outside. We talked briefly, and he had me sit in on the class anyway. He later wrote up an override form to get me in to the class officially. I never did a single one of his assignments (they were poetry, and I couldn’t do poetry well), yet I got an A+ because he saw my dedication to my writing. To him, as he later told me, dedication was more important than anything he could ever hope to teach.

I wish uni was like this. I asked the creative writing prof to let me do his course (I am doing science). Since I had no prereqs I gave so much details about my writing, my grades in HS French and German, English, and the art I make. His emailed response? "ok." I dropped it three weeks in. It was the dumbest cohort with the worst teaching I had ever encountered in university or HS. He was extremely jaded. The workload was non-existent, just two pieces the entire term, and most people just wrote crappy fanfics/er0tica. I randomly signed up to a course run by Dominican friars about Aquinas' philosophy and I stg that had more of an impact on my writing and art than that awful prof.

Humanities in my country is so freaking bad. Sometimes when I'm tutoring high schoolers in English I feel like I'm going to go insane. Sometimes I turn away and silently scream to myself for a second. I'm supposed to tutor a kid on the entirety of Sophocles' trilogy and he doesn't even know, like, what the muses are. I am going to go back to Ireland as soon as I get the opportunity,

I think I'm probably the biggest fan of this movie. I have watched it a thousand times, over and over, yet it still doesn't get old. I love the casting of all the characters, the music, the themes...everything! Its as if this film was specifically made for me as an individual, I don't know why I feel this way...but it really does. I wish I was in this world, I wish I was a part of the TCBS, I wish I had friends like that. It really surprises me that so little people know about this movie, because it is pure art. The reviews online don't match up to the experience I get when watching it, its just simply superb.

I was watching a the comparison between George RR Martin and JRR Tolkien. When I showed my dad about it, he said that it wasn't even a contest: Martin doesn't even hold a candle to Tolkien. By complete coincidence, I stumbled upon this movie, and that's when I saw one more reason why my dad was right.

The Paramore surname comes from the Middle English word "paramour," meaning "a lover," from the Old French "par amour," or "with love." As such, it was likely originally a nickname, which later became a surname. / In German Baby Names the meaning of the name Holda is: Beloved. I learn that from F. Scott Fitzgerald book, the first part. Second is Hulda Folk, elf's of romantic period.
