It was released in 1932, and has been danced to ever since it was performed at the Hibiya Park Bon Odori festival held that year.
Bon Odori dance is open to everyone.
It is a dance performed throughout Japan in the summer.
It is held around July 15-17 in the Kanto region and around August 15-17 in other regions.

To get to Jiyugaoka, take the Tokyu Toyoko Line from Shibuya.
It takes 8 minutes for the limited express and 10 minutes for the express.
The Bon Odori dance is held at the rotary in front of the Jiyugaoka, station.

@@ExploringJapanZen Yes, please notice that I stated above that 炭坑節の踊り方 is easy to find on KZread but that 東京音頭の踊り方 cannot similarly be found and is not easily discernible from this video here due to movement of the camera and variation by the neighbourhood participants.
