In the manga the dialogue Kaneki had in this scene was heart breaking. It really felt like he obtained severe brain damage and couldn’t think straight and only focused on the pain. It was so painful. It’s nice to have an animation that could partially convey that

Exactly he was saying random things because he couldn’t focus on a word he said im disappointed the anime left this whole interaction out it just cut from hide “dying” to kaneki working as Haise in the ccg 2 years later with his memory lost it was weird you had to watch the first half to understand why he was like that and the fact he was kaneki. Arima even asked him “get up and kill like i do, or perhaps you’d like to die again” which at first i didn’t understand that fight is very important it should have been put at the beginning of re:

For all you Anime only's or those behind on the manga, let me explain some stuff. One. Kaneki doesn't die , he becomes Haise sasaki [Bless Sasaki] Two. Kaneki had no chance of beating Arima , Arima fought off Eto and was putting up a very good fight. three.This is a "Fan Animation" , based on a real scene in the Manga , so it is not fake. four. For those who say "Kaneki can't die" He can die and knowing this is not shonen , he might die like a 40% chance , maybe 50% if we are lucky. Also , stop hating on the creator's work , this took a long time to make , back in December of bloody 2015. this post maybe really late , but still , this took a whole 4 months of work to be made. not as much as a manga , anime or game but still a long time. So show the creator some love.

Nikolas Matterson Kaneki didn't kill Arima the first time they met. Arima killed himself while fighting Kaneki like 100 chapters after the last chapter of the original.

@@lucasaguiar8698 No. He heals from this and becomes a prisoner in Cochlea. He forgets who he is there. He scratches his eyes, scratches walls until his nails fall off, screams and cries every night. Arima starts bringing him books and talking to him. Kaneki calms down after a while. Arima then asks him what his name is going to be. Kaneki gave himself the name "Haise Sasaki" and joins the CCG. Because of his personality, they chose Akira Mado as his mentor, with the help of Arima. After reaching rank 1, Haise becomes the mentor of the Quinx squad. That's where Tokyo ghoul: re begins.

It's all the more tragic because Kaneki didn't lose his memory here. He lost it when he was imprisoned in Cochlea and Arima just straight up tells him all his friends are dead. It was too much for Kaneki to handle that he mentally breaks down and ends up forgetting everything.

The most spectacular fight in Tokyo Ghoul. It shows that sometimes even the hero can't stop an immovable object. We are shown in the manga that Arima is dangerous and fighting him is suicide. Kaneki still fought him but lost

Yeah I can tell you the difference. Tokyo Ghoul: re is the main story which continues on of what the anime-only fans have seen in season 1 and 2. Tokyo Ghoul however has another manga which is a separated story (means it does not follow the main story)

You can of course read both mangas or whatever you like. My suggestion for you is if you truely look for the story that started with season 1 of Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo Ghoul: re. I started with the anime and continued then with Tokyo Ghoul: re. However, Ishida (the mangaka of Tokyo Ghoul) has published the first chapter of Tokyo Ghoul with a new fresh redrawn look which I highly recommend reading. It's basicly the same as the anime.

I love how most of the side characters that are ghouls die from one stab but the other ghouls that some fans like gets about 7 stabs and they don’t die.

You forgot the line at the end where Arima says "I'm going to need a new quinque"

The fact that a minute long fan animation got 1 Million Views is proof enough of how good this series is.

I remember reading the many in 8th grade because some friends on twitter told me to continue the history in the manga since I'd just finished the first season. It was my first manga and completely loved it. I read Tokyo Ghoul again for the second time in 2020 and so many memories of reading it. Hope the author is doing well in his new manga!

I love the monogatari references here , I don't know if fit in Tokyo Ghoul style but in this case its just felt right

Yeah, root A is really confusing. Its an anime original, but they copy the manga almost word for word while still managing to leave out all the awesome, important scenes, like this and Ayato vs Kaneki 103.

As someone who hasn’t had the money or luck to read the manga and only have had seen glimpses of screenshots from this scene, I can honestly say this would bode well and go perfectly in the actual series. It was beautifully made, really. I hope that if a remake for the Tokyo Ghoul anime does happen, it includes the s2 arima fight scene

'minorly' You didn't read the manga, quite obviously. And even disregarding how badly they botched the plot in season 2, with its nonsensical introduction of characters, only to completely ignore them after, absurd pacing, and strange mix and matching of arcs, the animation was also just incredibly bad in certain episodes. They also completely ruined Kaneki as a character.

If you watched both seasons of the anime you might want to start where Root A picks the story back up, because the entire second arc after Kaneki gets tortured is a million times better in the manga. Some significant events get slightly changed and jammed in (like Kaneki vs Sachi) and they go much more into detail in manga. Kanbeki also seems way weaker in the anime by going to Aogiri instead of making his own ghoul organization (which is what he does in the manga).

This happened in the prequel of tokyo ghoul. This is the ending of tokyo ghoul, which is where he died (he didn't really die but he survived the fight). The sequel is tokyo ghoul:re which where he started to became Haise Sasaki because of amnesia from the cells that were damaged on his brain. Just go read the manga.
