Highlights - the Gold Medal Bout [Final] of the Men's Individual Foil Fencing Event at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games.
On the Left - Cheung Ka Long of Hong Kong (FIE Rank 4) Cheung has never won a non-zonal major FIE Event at the Senior Level, however his results this past Olympic Cycle indicates that it was only a matter of time before Cheung wins his first Gold (Interestingly, Garozzo had also never won a major FIE Senior event before he won the Olympics in 2016). Cheung won the Asian Championships in 2016, then placing Silver in 2017 and 2019. Cheung had also medalled three times this Olympic Cycle, with a Bronze at the 2017 St. Petersburg World Cup, Silver at the 2019 Turin Grand Prix, and Bronze at the 2019 Anaheim Grand Prix.
On the Right - Daniele Garozzo of Italy (FIE Rank 3) - reigning Olympic Champion from Rio 2016. Garozzo won his first World Cup in 2017 (beating Cheung in the semi-finals) at St. Petersburg. Since then Garozzo has medalled at quite a number of events, including a Gold at the 2017 Tbilisi European Championships; Bronze at the 2017 Leipzig World Championships; Gold at the 2019 Cairo World Cup; a Silver at the European Championships in 2018 and 2019, among other results.
These two have fenced once before. Garozzo beat Cheung at the 2017 St. Petersburg World Cup 15-12.

I feel like garozzo lost because he wasn’t patient. When ever he was on defense, he would counter attack. But great stuff from Cheung

I feel like garozzo just didn’t know how to deal with the flèche and he just counterattacked instead of trying to get away, but cheung seemed like he was just fencing better in general

Honestly, yeah, Epee is so slow because no one wants to throw the lead (fair enough), Saber is boring because half of the points are decided at the line giving a rps effect (like a nascar except the race end in 0.3 second; no drama) And for foil, the thing is, I am a tall lefty who make very withdrawed attacks who someone attacks flank, so if I comment on that It would inflict self damage. That's what I was taught lmao.

@@AirventOS Oh there's plenty of drama in sabre. It just takes a while to get to that stage. That's why I settle on watching it instead

I would argue Cheung is actually more focused on the shoulder touch but otherwise you got the gist of it

@@redstone5624 on the FIE website it says that the final score of that bout was 5-1. So I thought it wasn't a DE. And yah I usually only consider the results of the current Olympic Cycle
