I respect Token and think he's mad talented, but he's was off at times here. It was the wrong instrumental for his flow. And what you are referring to is the beat "pocket", and Token normally is damned good at finding it, but it was a bit off this time. Regardless, I remember that day/month that Jark Harlow blew up, got the Em cosign, and worldwide popularity and thinking, "Damn, Token was supposed to be next up." Probaby the best part of Token is just the raw emotion. You can truly tell that this matters to him, whereas with Jack, he comes across as the "too cool for school" type, which rubs me the wrong way. Seems like more and more rappers, especially the ones the best-selling ones, still sound like they have broken jaws. And why so many people idolize rappers who compete to sound the most indifferent to what their doing is beyond me.

Nah man, there's many times near the start where he's off beat, but he settles in around half way. I think you're referring to a RZA or E-40 esque style of off beat rhyming, or maybe Rakim ending on the start of a bar? But theres points in the start where it sounds like he's squeezing 5 bars into 4 rather than say 6 or 8 bars into 4 and it just has an unflattering sound to it. It happens, Token is still a great rapper lol. Met him in like 2017 or so, I am a fan, dont get it twisted. I don't listen to Young Thug. I listen to cunninlyguists, typical cats, most of the mello music group roster, aotp/demigodz, nas, big l, pun, krs one, masta ace, wordsworth etc...

The thing about this freestyle it's like his cadence/flow is fighting the beat, they're not woking together but the bars are there and are there slapping, it's just the beat.

If you know RAP, you know Token is top teir when it comes to technicality and creativity. As long as he stays curious and hungry he will go down as a great. Musically he’s still tryna find his footing I feel but that’s a whole other story to pureee RAP

I respect Token and think he's mad talented, but he's was off at times here. It was the wrong instrumental for his flow. And what you are referring to is the beat "pocket", and Token normally is damned good at finding it, but it was a bit off this time. Regardless, I remember that day/month that Jark Harlow blew up, got the Em cosign, and worldwide popularity and thinking, "Damn, Token was supposed to be next up." Probaby the best part of Token is just the raw emotion. You can truly tell that this matters to him, whereas with Jack, he comes across as the "too cool for school" type, which rubs me the wrong way. Seems like more and more rappers, especially the ones the best-selling ones, still sound like they have broken jaws. And why so many people idolize rappers who compete to sound the most indifferent to what their doing is beyond me.

Nah man, there's many times near the start where he's off beat, but he settles in around half way. I think you're referring to a RZA or E-40 esque style of off beat rhyming, or maybe Rakim ending on the start of a bar? But theres points in the start where it sounds like he's squeezing 5 bars into 4 rather than say 6 or 8 bars into 4 and it just has an unflattering sound to it. It happens, Token is still a great rapper lol. Met him in like 2017 or so, I am a fan, dont get it twisted. I don't listen to Young Thug. I listen to cunninlyguists, typical cats, most of the mello music group roster, aotp/demigodz, nas, big l, pun, krs one, masta ace, wordsworth etc...
