Very helpful. I'm actually going to do the reverse on a Mercury 3.3. Everything you show here should be compatible. Thanks

@@BalkanShipyards Hi Rael, I haven't got around to it yet. I was going to use parts from my short shaft motor but unfortunately lost that overboard. That means some of the parts from the long shaft i will have to shorten as shown in the excellent video. Where are you located? Cheers Nigel

@@nigb1I replied a couple times, though both replies disappeared... is it because I added my email? has this platform got something against people leaving it and getting stuff done elsewhere?? KZread is special I suppose... Anyway Nigel, I got what you need, and need your 5 inch extension, driveshaft and pipe. I will send you what you need and pay for your extension. If that suits you, leave me a comment on the attached vid, maybe I can send you my email on my channel..?... Take care mate, oh, by the way I'm in Bulgaria. Here's a Balkan Shipyards Vid: kzread.info/dash/bejne/op6qqcd7eqm0qdo.html

Excellent mate, I'm doing the same but cutting the water pipe down, so the measurements you gave are really helpful.

Well done! Do you have a measurement for the length of the shore drive shaft from the water pump? Thank you

For 4hp outboard, Why is a good gasket needed for connection of motor to leg, isn't this full of air only w gear shaft and selector rod in air?? Thanks

Because you need to make sure the water gallery from the water pump is sealed so that water enters the head and doesn't leak out. Also the pressure from the exhaust gases could stop the water flow if not sealed from the water gallery. Hope this helps answer your question.

@@smurfboat Sorry for asking these basic questions, usually the carb is all I have to tinker with. Is the "Water Gallery" inside the power head, so the water comes up pipe from impeller to it, or what is the Water Gallery? And am I right that the foot below the power head the top of the leg is empty and no water, just has the drive shaft, shift rod, and the upwelling water pipe? How does exhaust exit the motor, I have to look up so much stuff, ha.
