I wouldn't be surprised if it was 100% an accident. He tried the card in-game, got pregnant, gave birth and figured "ah well, I guess it'll disappear when I leave the game". And Gon just didn't disappear

I was literally just thinking this. This theory makes an insane amount of sense for HxH. Ging is essentially just a Nen Scientist and him creating Gon was just an experiment, Greed Island as a whole is just an experiment to see the limits of what he can create so he wanted to test those limits by attempting to create human life.

It’s very telling that the fandom thinks it’s more possible for Ging to change sexes, get himself pregnant, then use a stuffed bear as a wet nurse than it is for Ging to have any interest in getting a real woman pregnant.

I like these wild theories. They're so much more interesting than "Gon's mother isn't important to the larger story", which is the most logical explanation. But "it was the power of the cards" is fantastical and purposeful. Where as "Ging slept with a woman who died in childbirth and his cousin demanded to raise Gon" is just.... probably what happened.

We don't what kind of relation don freeces have with ging. I see that ging traveling too see out don freeces. The freeces family orgin is surrounded with mystery we dont much about. This is in fact the only theory about Gon’s mother that I ever took seriously.

Im still wondering how Ging and his friends managed to create such strong and kind of reality warping effects through nen, which you said yourself, even surpass "real" nen abilites others hone their whole life. As much as a genius Ging might be, the sheer amount of nen required must be ridicolous, even as a group effort it should leave them seriously drained of Lifeforce after creating the game, but most of them still seem pretty fine. Another explanation could be conditions, but even then, the price must be enormous and pretty damn restrictive

I've always seen it as a result of the harsh limitations that Greed Island has as a game: only being able to produce effects through the strict mechanics of the cards, only on the island, and only by nen users who had to enter the game via the cartradge etc

You know, I no longer want to see Gon defy nen by getting his nen back. I want to see him be the one to fulfill Togashi’s prophecy by simply talking to Gyro, without ever fighting him.

My theory was always that Ging had made a failed secret visit to the Dark Continent and Gon is the calamity Ging had to bring back with him. The Hunter Exam, Greed Island as well as well as Gons general quest to find and meet his father were all part of Ging's plan to essentially prep Gon for a successful venture back to the Dark Continent and to meet Don Freecs.

it also makes sense that the timing of Ging “almost” telling who Gon’s “mother” is was during the recording of the Greed Island Arc kinda backs it up. Seems really convenient and left viewers up for speculation.

Pretty old theory that I've long been a subscriber to but I've never seen it so fleshed out like this before. Good work. The dates, extra cards involved, alpha testing of the binder,etc.. These little extra details push it into canon territory for me. Though I'm not digging the click bait title misleading us into thinking togashi actually revealed something officially.

I’ll throw my hat in the ring to boost this theory. Kids are a mix of their parents genes and will usually be half of their mom and half of their dad. Gon looks a lot more like 100% Ging and even more so he inherits the nen ability. From the Chimera Ant arc we know that Gon has the same ceiling of nen capability as Ging, as in generational talent in nen. Gon would not have this talent unless he inherited 100% of Gings genes and the generational talent. It’s a fictional world so Togashi does not necessarily have to follow real life genealogy but if Gons mom really was a completely average woman it seems unlikely that Gon would be as naturally talented in nen as he is.

It's possible that Ging didn't actually truly love her though. I mean, we've seen the way Ging repels the desire to form any emotional connections (ie. Gon), so it's possible that he just knocked someone up and decided to raise the child, as bad as that sounds lol

Nah. Gon’s parentage was written immaculately within the Chimera Ant Arc. If you paid attention to the parallels, Gon’s character mirrored Meruem (King). The lower Gon fell into the depths of inhumanity while consumed by despair at the hands of the Ants, Meruem was becoming vulnerable and humanized at the hands of a little innocent girl who broke down his barrier. Gon’s innocence was deprived by Neferpitou’s killing of Kite. Gon sunk more and more into sorrow losing his humanity while Meruem gained his. Gon became the monster locked deep within him. Meruem, who was guided but bloodlust had become tamed by a little girl. Meruem wanted to talk to the enemy instead of fight. Gon wanted to murder and enact vengeance upon the enemy. Gon and Meruem are the same person expressed through different perspectives, one’s a 6 and the other’s a 9. Meruem’s mother died giving birth to him, it’s likely that this is the case with Gon. Gon is definitely from the Dark Continent, which is why he’s so animalistic and somewhat beastly. Which makes him a direct relative to the Ants. Your theory is backwards. Gon isn’t a Freecs, but instead probably resembles Ging as collateral damage or penalty for an unrecorded voyage into the Dark Continent. Meaning, Gon is a hidden calamity. The mother probably produced Gon parthenogenetically and formed him from thought or sight of Ging himself. Either due to him being a threat, or, because of adoration. He’s likely the “King” of the Dark Continent and the final straw for humans constant excavations into this forbidden forest. Which means, ultimately, Gon will become the enemy of those he fight alongside by the end of the series. He’s the apocalypse.

I don't think so, I do see the parallelism between Gon and Meruem during the arc of the chimera ants, it is written in such a way that it is seen how Meruem begins to make sense of existence, taking the path of compassion, gratitude and love; while Gon is completely lost in the desire for revenge and with strong feelings of guilt, feeling that what happened to Kaito was his fault for not being strong enough, being his lowest point in which he completely lost his goals of looking for Ging, not caring if killing Pitou was the last thing he did. Showing the irony of how the protagonist lost humanity, while the main antagonist of the arc learned to be human. But it is not something that has to be taken very literally and that means that Meruem and Gon are the same person. Also I don't think Gon having animal instincts is a product of being from the dark continent, it's just a product of the way he lived since he was a kid, he basically grew up as a wild animal in the forest, so it makes sense. I don't think Gon is going to fight against his teammates, Gon is not that kind of person, his logic and morals are based on the fact that if someone does something bad to him or to people he appreciates, he considers them a threat, if he doesn't feel that someone be a threat to him, he won't attack them, Gon is like a wild animal, he has a simple logic, so it wouldn't make sense for him to fight against his own allies.

Another huge piece of evidence, for me, is that Gon has no interest in finding his mom, and he can't even imagine her-- it's like she doesn't even exist to him. I think this is relevant because of Gon's natural intuition and luck at guessing.

What if one of Ging's motivation to create Gon was to give him to Mito as a duplicate of sorts since he felt bad for leaving her. This may explain why Gon's personality and appreance is identical to Ging.

My theory is that greed island is constructed in a way with nen restrictions. You are restricted to the game rules hence the ''game spells become much stronger'' or something like that

Personally I think Gon's Mother won't be relevant to Gon's life as Mito is his mother now, but I imagine if the series goes into ging's backstory at all it will at least mention his mother in passing. That said they could do a weird reveal about this, I mean this theory is entirely possible, I just don't see how it would impact the story though, as Gon without hesitation responded "I don't need to hear about my mother, Aunt Mito is my mother" it's meant to be a pretty clear declaration of Gon's feelings for Mito and how much her foster mothering means to him, it's a really sweet storyline when you think about people from adoptive families, it really doesn't matter who your biological parents are, what matters is who's your parents in your heart.

I'd prefer a title that doesn't clickbait the viewer with a lie.

I'd kill for a reveal that Pariston was Gon's dad and Ging was the "mom" XDDD

I've just figured this out. Unrelated to the video kinda. Gon is definitely returning because his mugshot is still printed on every single issue up to the current chapter. At the end, bottom of the last page, every chapter. I think he would've changed that if Gon was never coming back ;)

There are creatures that are created by Nen, but they are made up of Nen. Gon is made of flesh and blood and he's also not a clone (an offspring from asexual reproduction) of his father. I'm pretty sure Gon has an actual mother.

The reason why he would need the pills is because, surprisingly, you need a vagina to get the baby out. I say that but you also need the uterus for pregnancy so I guess it’s possible the stone changes your entire body… But all of that seems to far fetched to me. Why would Ging do that? Deciding to have someone to care for is extremely unlike him, even worse, bearing the kid himself. And for what purpose? Loneliness? He wouldn’t have let him live with Mito and leave close to no trace for his son to find him. Transmitting knowledge and values? He never taught Gon anything directly. I mean, I don’t even think Ging puts great consideration for love as a feeling. We know for example that Mito loved him dearly when she was younger (maybe not romantically but the point isn’t there) and he never visits or even sends letters.

I love this theory, and it is actually plausible. We may find out for sure later in the series, if it ever becomes relevant. I am just hyped for more chapters!

When I watched HXH for the first time I thought the whole time Gon was Ging. I thought all the guided adventures was leading to that reveal. I thought adult Gon vs Pitou was him reaching the point he could become Ging again. Then when Kite resurrected I thought instead Gon was exactly the same concept for Ging.. but Ging actually showing up made me lose all that. HXH constantly introduces abilities that are entry level of understanding then later presents you with a complex expanded version. Now knowing about those cards I believe I was sorta right but didn't have all the information.

7:15 - this is quite false, though: Ging IS a game master. Razor implies as much when explaining to Gon that he is one, that the name of the game is made of the initials of all the game masters, and that Ging is the G where he is the R. Also, I think Ging friends also say so after Go' wins. Finally, it makes little sense to create a game with one's friends, have them all be game masters and not be one too. 🖖🏿🌈🖖🏿

We can speculate that the other admins are N for Nanika to power Greed Island, the I for Illumi to create the npc's. The N is for Kite. Because we know his nickname was Nigg. Or N is for Netero to fuel the nen cards, which is possible. Because in the election sseason we learn that Ging works under Netero so they are besties for resties

Yes, I agree. The annoying thing is, he doesn't even need to clickbait, I legit enjoy his content and I'm sure everyone in the community does. But this is his second video in a row with a clickbait title, it just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

It seems like some people feel like there are some other reasons as to why the game was able to operate considering the immense amount of men required to keep it going. Some of the conditions might be “I will remain in this game until somebody wins it” which very well might be an extremely strong condition, considering someone may never win. There are many nen users that put there life into the game, I wouldn’t doubt that depth of investment wouldn’t be enough. Although there may be other aspects of nen at play.

Why does no ever talk about Bisky being Gons mother, she knew ging, and gons transformation goes hand in hand with her ability to transform her body. That really seems the most reasonable.

@@loganjenks6627 Bisky’s transformation was built on years of wishing for a different physical appearance, while Gon just exhausted his nen into being op to destroy Pitou. They’re both transformations but Bisky uses nen to hide her true form while Gon went off the deep end lmao

@@hooman9554 yeah they have different reasons of transforming but both of their wills and life force (nen/aura) cause body transformations unlike anyone else in the series, except maybe Illumi but that is really different obviously. It would also make sense as to why she would want to help train Gon, since shes seemingly very greedy and self centered, shes in GI for for some precious stone and material wealth, or really has been waiting there to train her son

"Togashi Just Revealed", I understand using clickbaits but that a little too much for me (like i was expecting that Togashi twittered another image or something).

I always had that theory after seeing those cards, so thanks a lot for confirming it

I never took the time to search for all the unrestricted cards and spell cards of Greed Island. And I know the show never mentions those specific cards in this video so it was a pleasant surprise that those exist somewhere. The theory does seem in character and sort of fits. I think what's missing is how Gon was drawn/portrayed when he fought Pitou. Ging and Gon look very similar, but in that "point in time" they never looked the same. I would think the theory with the combination of spells/items ability would make the end result a clone as there are no other "donors of genes" (an idea I am not against).

there is a chart of literally every of the restricted slot cards on a chart that slowly goy built throughout the arc in the manga! that's where the info about the existence of these cards comes from

Dude, this would be another explanation for ging not making any effort to take car e of his child. BUT, this theory goes too far! I don't think Togashi would do that, let's wait 10 more years to know the truth
