I just had my kid doing a clinic with turcotte, and this video was more in depth than what was taught there. Nice work.

Good Video on the toe drag. I like the point on proper spacing. Coming in with speed helps so you can easily turn your skate to make a subtle move laterally or diagonally. I would also emphasize coming straight at the defencemen so he doesn't know what way your going to go and he can't properly angle you. This way you can fake right by stick handling to your forehand side (or even fake shot). The fake to the right side is very important so you can bait him into swiping his stick. At that point, bring the puck in and push laterally or diagonally tight towards the defender so you trap his stick with your body and your stick to the outside of his body. Now you can easily cross over and his stick can't get to you.

"The fake to the right side is very important so you can bait him into swiping his stick." Such an ah-ha moment for me. As a righty I always fake to my left and this move never worked. I've been faking myself out lol Thanks for posting.

Kevin, would love to see some drills to use with younger players to help this skill, particularly initial drills in motion rather than with the stationary defender.

This move is by no means simple. It takes a LOT of practice and even more practice to be able to pull it off in a game situation. Trust me. It took lots of hours of practice to get this move down where you can do it and not even have to look at the puck.

I'm talking about executing this move full speed in a full check game. Not some ball turnamint in your backyard Jelly.

If someone is pressuring you and skating at you fast this is a good move also if you are dodging an open ice hit
