Actually Todd Rundgren doesn't know how to read music. He certainly knows how to brilliantly write, compose, produce music.
Absolutely THE BEST musician/singer/composer/arranger in the business!
One of my favorite TR albums for sure, Parallel lines one of my all time favorite songs. Had the pleasure of meeting him once but couldn't ask him all my questions, so thanks for putting this upthere!
I remember purchasing that album in the late eighties, unfortunately, I gave it away.....until recently,I went to one of those record store in the village near Manhattan and guess what album I see staring back at me 35 years later....
He is so amazing.....i love him.
Obviously much more articulate than your average rock star.
I loved “I Love My Life” ! Great!
Todds best album since Something / Anything.
I think probably the best song writer ever. The songs seem to have great meaning.I was hoping he would say what the inspiration was for Hawking. Are they friends has he met him or what. I cant believe it was just a cold write without talking to him.
Professor snape here, this guy who i resemble in the 70's changed ALOT!
Kinda looks like Ace Frehley in this clip. Nearly Human is great; best song - THE WANT OF A NAIL.
@texaz2step Did you see last September's "A Wizard/A True Star" tour? You should also see one of the upcoming six shows where he will be playing the albums "Todd" and "Healing" in full. They will be amazing. Check out sonsof1984 com
@1235dar I've never heard any interview where Todd mentioned talking to Hawking. But I get the impression that he has read Hawking's books, and I'm fairly sure he saw the documentary A Brief History of Time. Check it out if you get the chance. I think the song is just Todd empathizing with Hawkings' situation, and is more imagining what life would be like in that situation - which pretty much defines what makes a great songwriter.
I missed the tour where Todd and Daryl Hall sang each others songs. Any hope that anyone managed to video a show?
The music industry is not fond of musicians with too many brain cells.
todd=rules! awsom daryle hall= el sucko
Lee never did, at least not like i know - press any if our live stuff; him and Steve's producing abilities are keen: bet they could do something with that reel-to-reel Steve made that late night. was sort of a hobby for Steve Vanhorn and Lee Davila; concerning 'X's for Eyes! LIVE @ the aXiom' it was Houston's punk dive. Steve did a nifty recording of that show. Dave Dove [the Rev.] did T-bone for SPRAWL. tHAT's was punk as you could get in Houston's later 8o's... Think SPRAWL opened for GWAR there one Sunday. That was over thirty ago, mind you. HAd I told you the CD i produced in 1999 was at the same studio Jim and Tammy Faye used? we didn't came from the land down under; but...
thumps up if you're looking for that nasty word in 30 rock
