My 15 year old nephew ordered this album Initiation for Christmas. I wonder how he will react to Treatise? I think over a few listens he will realize the masterpiece of it. He became a huge fan of Rundgren after hearing Healing and Ever Popular albums. Now, he wants to eventually get all of Rundgren and Utopia albums.

When I was a kid, this was the most outrageous and unpopular music. Which was perfect, as far as I cared. I appreciated Todd's music from the beginning, but I never thought it would go this far. However...fine by me!

The best thing about coming home from football practice, basketball practice, baseball practice, cross country, etc. was lighting up and jamming with the band and playing at the local bars in late 70’s early 80’s. Todd was and always will be the north star and band leader of humanity🙏🙏🌴🌸🌻

If there was any doubt about Todd’s place in and contribution to progressive rock, this composition will dispel all doubt. This firmly brings him in the forefront of what progressive rock is doing today. I hear some elements that remind me of some of the old prog works from Soft Machine, Caravan, and Hawkwind…but ultimately it is pure Todd Rundgren, there is a genius here. A True - A Wizard.

The word "Mind-blowing" comes to mind, but it will not blow your mind - it will expand it for different musical expression. Have the courage to listen through it. This was not made for commercial reasons. This may be a subconscious expression of an originator on multiple instruments. No meaning, no explanation, but a whole universe. Let it happen.

This was wonderful -- thank you for this. "Treatise On A Cosmic Fire" is my favorite of all Todd's music and I love a lot of Todd's music! I saw Todd in concert for the first time, I'm thinking in the 1975-1976 timeframe. I am not sure of the venue nor date -- it was in a college auditorium, probably in the greater St. Louis area. He came on stage with just a large reel-to-reel tape recorder and his guitar. He had recorded all the backing tracks onto the tape and then proceeded to play along with them. At first, I thought it was a little cheesy but finally realized what an intimate concert it made it. Towards the end he indicated that he'd acquired some videography equipment and was experimenting with creating animated videos. He played a couple of his videos for us and, as I recall, both were backed by excerpts from Treatise (as I recall, they involved animated robots engaged in a laser battle -- though I am really stretching the limits of my memory here). The colors in your video remind me a bit of Todd's videos. But most of all, I want to say how great it was to revisit Treatise in such a fun way. Thanks again.

This is album is 67 minutes and 34 seconds! This piece was Side 2. Todd has a warning about that and recommended recording it to tape and playing for that tape. I did not one and wore it out quickly. Eventually, I got a good cassette deck and start to record all my vinyl to CrO2 cassettes with Dolby type B noise reduction - better quality than any pre-recorded cassette on the market. I do not finish analog recording, not for one 0.00005 second (the length a 20 kHZ wave), The CD version has no problem.

Clichematic, this certainly was a labor of love for you to make this. How many hours did you spend on it, I wonder? Todd's music inspired me to go to college and study theatre-lights, sets and costumes. I never did get to NY city, it wouldn't have been the right thing for me. However, after Healing came out, that's exactly what I got into. Nowadays, a new type of healing is necessary, and I can see the use of vibration and sound will be our answer to a lot of health questions such as cymatics that might break this spell our people are under. Thank you for sharing this. Pass this along friends, hopefully it inspires the next generations to do something or anything with.
