Man, he still got his full voice. First, when you hear him speak, you wonder how he should get those high notes. But then, as he starts singing... WOW!

Something/anything... 'nuff said..
Poet and musical genius
I saw Tod in 1973 when I traveled 6 hours in a car full of kids to see him in another state and returned the same evening. He was dressed up like a fairy and went around sprinkling fairly dust on us all. It was great concert and a great time. Then 5 or 6 years ago he came through town and played at a well known local ballroom. I was fortunate enough to get a table directly in front of his piano.Half way through one of his songs he got stuck and couldn't find the right chord. He looked up at me and said "What chord is it?" I thought about it and said "try going down a 4th". It worked. Good thing. My favorite part of this show was when he picked up a ukulele, walked up to the vocal mic, and sang "I just wanna bang on the drum all day." It had a hawaiian tempo that made me think of him slowing down from playing a giant drum set in his youth to maybe tapping out a rhythm on a set of bongos, as he swayed in a hammock under a palm tree by the beach. He is taking me into my next phase of life with such ease and joy. Once again, he makes it seem so simple! I am so glad he is still with us. Aren't you?

Thankful to have shook his hand, had front row seat to his show in the 90's, at the Park West, Chicago. Stories, and appreciation can go on.. All the best!

I saw his "Back to the Bars" tour at The Park West in the late 70s. WXRT 93.1FM live broadcasted one of the two shows. I'd bet if looked around enough I'd find the cassettes that were done on some audiophile machine at the family's house that night. Might not sound too good this old, though. They were both slamming shows, on tape, and in the club.

Fabulous! Thanks for sharing. I saw him on the RA tour in the mid to late 70’s at the old Ellis auditirium in Memphis. One of my top five concerts, and I attended a bunch back in those days. Check him out on the Live from Daryl’s House episode if you’ve not seen it, although I suspect you have.

Todd is my favorite genius.
The best. This is the music of my life since 1976...still does it for me. Todd!!
"A Dream Goes On Forever" A million old soldiers will fade away But a dream goes on forever I'm left standing here, Ive got nothing to say All is silent within my dream A thousand true loves will live and die But a dream goes on forever The days and the years all go streaking by But the time is stopped within my dream We all have our everyday hopes and fears And you'll find no exception in me But that doesn't get me through a sea of tears Over life's biggest tragedy You're so long ago and so far away But a dream goes on forever I guess I believe that I'll see you one day For without it there is no dream You're so far away and so long ago But my dream lives on forever How much I love you you'll never know 'Till you join me within my dream How much I love you you'll never know 'Till you join me within my dream

He is an absolutely inspiring musician, still has an amazing voice too...wow......
his voice is amazing.
Oh Todd, you are a soundtrack to my life & I still cry to this song, guess I always will! Beautiful rendition, with the rawness I love about live performance, bless you bro xxx
i LOVE this song-and this guy's songwriting! VERY underrated musician!
Aloha Todd, as a one time neighbor in Princeville, I will always remember the days listening to you giving piano instructions to the kids; sadly, it stopped when someone complained of the 'noise'. Music is not 'noise', and the children are our future. Malama nui.
Have loved Todd since I first heard him on his album “ Todd.” He’s absolutely brilliant. Much under appreciated I think.
One of my favorites from my high school years. This convinces me that Todd truly loves music for itself.

Have loved this song for most of my life.
If you really want to be blown away get Todd's 1990 concert DVD "Live in Japan." A completely outstanding show from start to finish, this concert is just one jaw-dropping performance after another.
This brings back so many wonderful memories...I always adored and cherished this andTodd...
I was lucky enough to See Todd in Victoria, London around 1978. Loved him before then and even now refer back to him for song ideas. He strikes me as a wonderful human being.

It only took me 12 years to see my most favorite (Todd) I've bought tickets everytime he is near by, however, I got in car acciedent on way, needed surgery the, the next time, death in family, back surgery......etc,...........I finally got to see Todd on New Years in Ventura. I threw up the drive down from Santa Barbara, only because I didn't think I would make for some reason.....but I did!!!!!
nice, like havin todd in your living room- like the music lesson....
Absolute genius. One of my favorite writers of music and lyrics of all time. And this was one of my favorites.
Todd is so gifted and really down to earth! I have held him in high esteem for his musical talant and great voice! Thanks Todd!
Oh my heavens...what a treat and pleasure to hear my favorite musical artist growing up in the 70's. I was so fortunate to be a babe in the woods when his music came out (only 14). How many wonderful memories I have listening to Todd with my friends. For those of you who didn't grow up during this amazing time of musical history, you are listening to one of the greats....
I just found this song and I love it! I'm learning to play it and I'm making the same mistakes that he is, lol. I love this video. I fell in love with the Major 7 chords too when I first started messing around with the piano. My sister passed 3 years ago and I just want to play this song on repeat right now.
Todd is The BEST !!
What a voice❤️❤️❤️
The chord master Dr Rundgren! Touching songs come from a sensitive soul with a creative temperament. I remember when I was only 5 years old hearing “ Hello It’s Me” and I still remember the turn of events that day. My brother’s friend Kevin was trapped in a hole he dug out of the side of a hill in Northern CA he meant for a small cave which collapsed. He couldn’t breathe and the paramedics came and rescued him. That song is forever printed indelibly in my mind but, the beauty of the song and chords over time has made that day’s events fade. Dream Goes On Forever is another timeless tune. Thanks, Todd.

Such talent that man
Have always loved his voice. So unique and pleasing to the ear.
I feel Todd’s joy in producing music. He loves sharing! He is so ahead of his time!
Todd is just a joy!
I’m dyslexic and forgotten part of my recital and just made it up at the age of 10 and music is key for the lifetime vibration it gives me and sharing stories is a key. I understand how humble in such a different way which makes people unique. Maybe a dream to kick back and chat. The sky is bright but the ocean is worth hearing.
Brilliant composition by a brilliant composer
I'd always go see him whenever he played in Austin (73-85). If I didn't have a date I'd go by myself! I've followed his musical career from the beginning, and I have to say, I enjoy him just as much now as I did decades ago!
genius
What a musical treasure you are Todd
Pure genius… that’s all I got
That song gave me more understanding of music theory. Thanks Todd. 45 years of piano has been a constant learning experience for me.
I love this song so much! Todd Rundgren is amazing…and I love that he gives a shout out to Burt Bachrach. So cool!
"There it is!" lol
Mr Tod. I bought my first album. something anything. 72. 73. I was 13. It was fantastic I listened to it constantly. My mom heard piss Arron. She grabbed the record and smashed it. Parents. What do you do with em? Thank god it was a 2 record set I loved your entire catalog long before others caught on...thanks for the talent, the record of it, and the years of feeling someone knows how I see things...tell me you made it to the hall of fame.... so MANY years ago. Oh yeah. I'm now 62. ..I miss the early 70s and the dancing and the parties and the girlfriend that got away! B,
I miss these times and these songs
A complete package of talent , we may never again see this again in our rotten music industry
This is so beautiful on so many levels. Thank you, Todd.
Loved to hear his reference to Burt Bacharach, spotted this influence decades ago. As musicians and composers we're quite aware of the influences that crossed out paths. Essentially trying to emulate our heroes. ELP was masterful at grabbing my attention, hence spent much time perfecting my arpeggios. Later along came Ludwig, the master craftsman, installing every drop of passion into a piece of music. Thank you to both of you, obviously realize you're not on terra firma atm, possibly we shall meet again.
At the end, he is speaking in the PAST tense…….how much I LOVED you……so great.
Great, beautiful song! I love so many of TR’s songs, but I think my all-time favorite is Love is the Answer.🥰
gotta love this man
Just another tight, exquisite song by Runt.
So lovely every time I hear this gem

Priceless.
oh just love him( always have) and this song. So inspiring so much love. And some beautiful man wrote all the words out for me. when you know the truth you can inspire the world.
That was great! Great insight to a brilliant musician and songwriter! One of my favorites! Open and honest!
OMG- thanks SO MUCH for sharing this. Absolutely Classic footage... something we would have never seen except for YOU!!
Finally saw him about 10 years ago. was on my "Bucket list."
Todd Rundgren is one of the most talented singer/musicians in American rock & roll history…this track was one his best.
A genius... no wonder CREEM asked "Todd the God?" back in the day... He knows so well and explains so simply the music theory behind this gorgeous composition... and sings it as well at 62 as he did at 25, which is like Jay Black singing "Cara Mia" now the way he did in 1963! Amazing as always, sir...
What a wonderful look into the composition of a truly great song.
Todd forever
Frigger makes me cry... thanks!

Thanks for all your sacrifices in your own life while helping the little one’s. Thanks for everything
Beautiful ❤️
He is such an interesting person . . . I’ve always thought his voice was good, but it has developed into something even better!
Watch very very carefully Folks, genius at work. Beautiful song . I use the g word very very sparingly . With Todd it applies 100%
Just add in the 2d, and you’ve got a major 9th. All the singer songwriters of the 70s and 80s used those chords, including Carole King, james Taylor, Bread, on and on. And we couldn’t get enough of it.
Greatest musician ever
"F"..ing hell, that brought tears to my eyes
Adore this man.
