Episode 2: Todays Special is Reunions Part One!
Today's Special is a Canadian children's television program produced by Clive VanderBurgh at TVOntario, originally broadcasting 120 episodes from 1981 to 1987. Much of the series was set in a department store, based on Simpson's then-flagship location in Toronto. It starred Nerene Virgin as Jodie, Jeff Hyslop as Jeff, Nina Keogh as Muffy Mouse and Bob Dermer as Sam Crenshaw
For Part One, we sit down with Nina Keogh (Muffy), Bob Dermer (Sam), Robyn Hayle (TXL) and Cheryl Wagner (Mrs Pennypacker) to talk about the memories of the show and all kinds of things.

I'm so excited to see this♡♡ I got through a tough childhood with this show♡♡
Great podcast episode! I have so many great memories about Today's Special. A few of my early elementary school teachers even showed us a few episodes of the show (on VHS).
Today's special is hands down my favorite show from childhood. Muffy will forever be in my heart ❤ all these amazing talented people have imprinted on me ,and I'll be forever greatful for that. You did such a good job with your questions , it all felt so relaxed and genuinely fun. I can't wait for the second part to this! I hope all the Today's Special fans get to see this, you really do feel like you've known them forever!

Highly unlikely because of the music copyrights. Other things factor into it as well, but it's mostly because of the music.

Well, it is and it isn't. Personally, I'd want the performers and composers of the music we love to be paid for their work. The cast and crew of these shows do not get residuals. They never have. So, unless they are paid properly for the work they did all those years ago...I'd rather not have DVDs of any of the shows.

Id like to see the blue cow episode. And that creepy tune when there was a mystery or something wrong in the store.
Lot's of shows were lost due to improper storage. I lived next door to Douglas Bevan. He was the editor on the show.
I think muffy the 🐁 mouse is a little cutie pie " today's special 4-ever" . 🇨🇦🧑🤝🧑📺🎥
My favorite episode is our story part one and the scene with the two monsters dancing and it was on KZread about a year ago but it was removed for some reason part two is available to watch but nooooo let's take part one off so no one can watch it even though it's the best episode out of them all except for Halloween
I only just discovered your podcast and I’m absolutely hooked! You’re capturing the childhood nostalgia I didn’t know I needed. And thank you for not censoring Robyn Hayle describing the TXL and saying “What a bitch!!” That was absolutely hilarious hearing her say that! 🤣

Love you all, Sharon, Lois & Bram(SL&B) were on your series before they had their Elephant Show series and tours right? Would you have the episode where you sang the song Side By Side with SL&B? Can't find that episode any where.

@@KevinCollar So have I, I have seen it on youtube years ago, but it was in awful sound and picture quility sadly! You have any ideas on where that eppisode could be? It's going to be SL&B's 45th anniversary and it would be nice to have that eppisode on youtube to watch before their anniversary.

Hello. We have been trying to communicate with Jeff Hyslop and Nerene Virgin to see if they would like to come on the show with the rest of the cast for part two. We haven't been able to get ahold of them yet. They are quite busy. We are going to keep trying! We hope you are enjoying the rest of our episodes. New Episode coming soon!

@@KevinCollar Do that Part 2 with whomever you can find. Don't wait. You can always come back and do another segment if you find more people willing to give an interview. But get the stories while you can. It is better to go back and do more parts than to wish you had documented what you could. Just my 2 cents.
