this game had the whole package for its time, transparent glass to view the interior was rare to see in ps1 games, cockpit view with working instrument cluster, rear view mirrors that was not a static texture, fully destructible cars where body panels would fall off including doors where you could see the driver model and the fact you could even see its arms move from an exterior camera, ai that would make mistakes and go off track or crash into other cars, real pit stops where the car would actually jack off the ground and play audio of tires getting changed with air tools, in cockpit view when ai crashes into you and the player model would raise its fist out of frustration, glowing breaks, windscreen wipers, pit crew radio, a car game where you could do a burnout and the smoke would hang around, a cheat menu for when you get board you can turn on infinite NOS (that had an exhaust flame when activated) and then drive around the track backwards and create chaos. such a fun and immersive game which pushed the ps1 to its limit for what was possible in a racing game. 10/10

Also a fully working headlamp which can shine a road. So far i only know this and NFS High Stakes that are able to shine roads in PS1 system.

This is the game that sparked my passion for racing. Seeing glowing disk brakes for the first time and exhaust flames was mind blowing for the time.

Playing this game not for winning, I just set it for full tracks and go for night mode and drive as I wish. It's fun and relaxing.

This game was very impressive at the time. The graphics were not as impressive as, let's say Gran Turismo or Ace Combat, but the fact that it had a working dashboard view (specific to every model) plus a very detailed car damage system (both visually and mechanically) on a Playstation 1 game made it stand out. The gameplay is also very fun and the soundtrack is great. This was one of my favorite games on the system. As a matter of fact, I still play it from time to time with the steering wheel. It's that much fun.

Yeah it nailed the balance between realism and arcade fun. Like it wasn't a full on accurate realistic driving sim like Gran Turismo that can be difficult to play with only a controller and not a steering wheel, instead it seemed to be designed around playing it with a controller, so it wasn't too sensitive or anything like that. But it's also not pure arcade style racing gameplay either, it's still got enough realism, it's perfectly balanced between simulation racing and arcade racing. I played just the demo of this game for probably hundreds of hours, before eventually getting the full game. I remember it being much much better than the previous game in the series, TOCA 2. That's the only other TOCA game I played, and I remember that being very tricky to drive, it was too sensitive, as if it was an F1 car. And so when I played the demo of this game, toca world touring car championship, it felt like night and day, it was a huge difference. It just feels so good to play. It's still probably better with a steering wheel than with a controller, but you didn't NEED to use a steering wheel to have any chance of doing well at the game, like some other racing games were like. But it still felt enough like real racing, it wasn't like a mario kart game or anything like that. Like I say, just perfectly balanced. They don't make racing games like this any more today, they're always pushed to the extremes, modern racing games. Like they're either full on racing sims that are painfully realistic to play, or they're arcade style racers that use nostalgia to try and get people to buy the game, by making it look and feel like Outrun or whatever. There's very few of the in between racing games like there used to be in the 90s like this game, Toca 3.

This and Toca2 were the underrated heavy hitter racing games on PSX. Gran Turismo left a lot to be desired from the ai drivers on track.

TOCA WORLD TOURING CARS, even in 2024, its still a hidden masterpiece! The engine sound feels far better than in GRID LEGENDS!

Codemasters was ahead of its time. One can only say they rivalled Polyphony/ GT at that time.

This is amazing.. what a great racing game for being a 5th generation console game.

Most ps1 games can be put into any CD player and then you can listen to the soundtrack of the game on the CD player that way, usually the 1st track is completely silent, but the 2nd track and every track after that will have all the music from the game.

On Google. Just Google "TOCA world touring cars ps1 ROM" and then there you go. It's very simple. I'm surprised it's not the very first thing you tried. Then once it's downloaded simply open it in a PS1 emulator and start playing.

No this is not a Link game. Every Link game is called "The Legend of Zelda" and then a subtitle after that to differentiate it from the other legend of Zelda games. For example, there's The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and there's also The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In both games, you play as Link, the main character of the whole series. Hence, they are indeed "link games" like you're asking about. TOCA World Touring Cars is not a Link game, because it doesn't contain the character of Link. Instead, it's a racing game, where you drive cars around the track against other drivers in an attempt to reach the finish line before any of them do. Do you understand now? The character known as "Link" doesn't appear anywhere in this game, because it's not a Legend of Zelda game, it's a racing game, and therefore it couldn't possibly ever contain the character of Link in it. So it's not a Link game. Also, if you want to download this game, just Google it. It's very simple. Google "TOCA world touring cars ps1 ROM" and download the ROM file and open it in an emulator.
