I had this song played at my son's celebration of life. He died by suicide at age 31. When he was a little boy he called me up to his room one day and said he wanted to give his heart to Jesus. We prayed and he was saved. Later he was baptized. He grew up in the church and went to college and became an alcoholic like his father. He had a heart of gold. Never hurt a soul. I struggled so much with his death, although I know the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy. Romans 8: 38 for I am persuaded that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come nor height nor depth nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. He is our intercessor. Thank you Lord Jesus!

Man... My heart hurts with you. I'm about to cry with you. this is so close to my story. My son is on a dark road and I fear.... Well i fear... but through God's sacrifice of his son and their childhood willingness and desire to know Jesus, I believe you and I will see our boys with Jesus in heaven one day.

I've never seen the video before. My grandfather was a coal miner in Floyd County Kentucky, he died of a massive heart attack brought on by black lung disease. My uncles and a lot more of her family have worked in the mines for generations. We have lost family in the mines from gas, bad air, cave ins, flooding and explosions. God bless every single miner. They are strong men and I am proud of them. I live in north central Texas.

My great uncles in west Virginia died of black lung as well. That's the reason my Ater left and got a different trade

I lost my dad this year (2022) to the war of drug addiction. He was only a couple weeks past 50 years old. I came upon this song today and it made me think of my dad. Before I lost my dad he came to visit me and my sister for his 50th birthday. While I listen to this song I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. My dad wasn't perfect, he had his problems in life and he battled with a lot of things. But he had a heart of gold and a warming smile. One day while I was at work I started to think of my dad and I started getting emotional and began to weap tears. I suddenly felt this powerful energy that shifted me. It was as if my dad, and God were standing there and each put a hand on my shoulder and said everything is going to be okay. That day changed everything for me. I already believed in God. But I never felt anything like that. To this day I wear a cross necklace with Phillipians 3:14 inscribed on it. This is my personal experience and I will never forget the day. I am here to tell you, if you are down and out or having a tough going don't forget that God is there. He is watching and everything happens for a reason. God is powerful in so many ways. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I felt I needed to get it out there. I guess I never really talked about this. God bless.

This song always brings unending tears to my eyes as it describes my own walk on this earth. I truly know loneliness, loosing loved ones and promises that always seem out of reach and almost forgotten. I lost both my parents in 2017 within just over 2 months from one another. It was surreal as the pastor, the coffin and the flowers where exactly the same... while I grieved for my father passing, I had to grieve all over again when my mom passed away. There are many seasons and much grief, but God gives you the strength and resolve to finish the race. The video from beginning to end describes my walk... from the forests where I want to go to escape life, to being in between trains and train stations (where the promises always feel out of reach) and walking towards the cross through all of it and the Lord at the end. Thank you for a song that does not describe fantasies and carrots at the end of a long string, but reflect true life following the Lord into His arms.

I've had much loss, including losing a son the same way Toby did. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Great song.

And I know I haven’t had the grief that Toby has, losing a child, so this song is personal for him too. And through it all, with tears in my eyes and that same sad sense of forlorn as Toby’s character has in this video, I still proclaim that He is my God. Even if he slay me, yet will I praise His name. I was very distressed, nothing regarding the situation seems to be changing, so TODAY i decided to sit down and pray about the promises that God had made. This song just broke my heart wide open. I am in tears… I haven’t seen my only new born son for over 8 months, taken away by his mother without any rhyme, mercy or reason… I’ve been fighting for months just to see him again in all ways that I know how. It’s unbelievable that someone could be so heartless towards a father and a son. If Toby can raise hands in praise after all that he has been through.. so can I. What a powerful, powerful song from someone who has gone through tremendous grief. This is one of your best Toby. I felt today - the first time I heard it, it was for me in my moment of pain. Thank you Toby, you are a true believer.

A true, moving tribute to his granddad, and it speaks to all hard working Americans. After getting taken away to the hospital and seeing him return to work after, that really hit me. Everyone of us knows there is a greater purpose God has for us on this earth, but we still have to put up with our earthly deeds of work, family, bills, And still make God our priority. The ending scenes showed that which nobody see’s, our constant fellowship with the Lord God Almighty through prayer, reading of his word, and worship of his Holy Name.

Toby...you are literally the "canary in the coal mine" on this song. Thank you for your honest worship.

I'm highlighting in many colors the Acts, @ 4:10, hearing the song "Promise Land." And reading on to Acts 4:11. I start balling into tears. Isreal was suppose to teach us the love (laws) of the Lord towards us, yet they got full of the devil and themselves. I could not stop crying and praying in tongues over the sadness that the one they have been waiting for was waiting for them. 😢😢😢😢😢😢 The promise Land is here for us all, just not all of us know it yet. Lord willing, in His Will it will all come to pass.

Thank you Toby Mac for this awesome, awesome song. And thank you for sharing the coal mining industry of WV and elsewhere. Grew up with my father, brother, fiancé working in the coal fields of NCWV. Perfectly filmed video. Used to pack my dads lunch ‘bucket’ as seen in this video. The coal industry brought to life again in Jesus’ name.❤️

Love it!!! It seems like more and more Christian artists are releasing new songs that never mention God once. That makes me sad...I have seen a lot in my 60 years. Thank you Mr. TobyMac for another great song that shows how much you love God. Yes, God is ever faithful!

Many, many years ago, I remember catching the end of a somewhat documentary on Toby Mac and DC Talk…and all I really remember is Toby talking about Jesus and those eyes. Years later I gave my life to Christ and the first Christian album I bought and listened to was Jesus Freak. Not knowing this was the same people…😳 I can’t tell you how much DC Talk and Toby Mac’s music has encouraged me😊

a very haunting video for me. I lost my wife shortly before you lost your son. Then lost my mom just a couple months ago. "the promised land" can seem like it`s forever away when you`re grieving and the pace of life keeps moving faster and faster. thank you for sharing this deeply heartfelt song.

After working a long torturous day the week after my brother passed away this song was playing on the radio. It literally brought me to my knees before God. As the grief became almost unbearable I came to realize in the end all that matters is Jesus. Who He is, what He has done and if we believe and know Him as our Messiah, Savior and Lord. My hope is that my brother is with Him now.

Whenever I'm having a hard time with things, I turn on Toby's music and remember our God, and work till I can't any more.. I'm almost 64,fight disabilities, and this world hates me, cause I love Jesus and have still tried to be the best neighbor that I'm capable of being...

I like when Christian music is honest. Sometimes painfully honest. Because the Lord never promised us life would be easy or full of riches when we choose to follow him. But He did promise, and does promise, that there is something greater waiting on the other side if we follow Him. No I'm not the healthiest I could be, or the happiest, but inside there is a peace, even if sometimes that peace seems so small and so quiet, that reminds me. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for our sins and conquering death, so that by faith we might one day finally find rest from this world.

Our Heavenly Father knew I needed to hear this song today. I feel broken but I won't give up the fight until I reach my actual "Promise Land!" Peace and Blessings to you all.

Absolutely amazing Toby. This was the song I was listening to when it turned 12 am. It’s my birthday and there’s no better way to start it!

The sheer myriad of emotions expressed, through the lyrics; the stark, sparse film style, the universal feelings we all experience of daily monotony, loneliness, grief. God bless all the workers putting in hours, leaving breathless and lungs burned, and still end up short on funds. May the leaves and seasons pave the way for better days ahead.

That was such a huge blessing to me. I'm going through a really hard time. The struggles are different but the same. We all have hope in Jesus, walking this hard life. Waiting for Him, this reminds me of Pilgrims Progress....such a blessing to me when the enemy is trying to make me feel so defeated. Thank you ❤

Loved your reference to Pilgrims Progress, connects with me too, reminds me of something the Lord reminded us to focus on in a recent message .. “Focus NOT on what you have LOST, but what you have LEFT (remaining)” - praying for you.

Amen,we all need it, it's not easy to evangelise especially with condemnation in your heart that you are a sinner

After experiencing 3 years of grief, after losing my mum and brother in one month in 2018, mum going to glory on my birthday and then last year the devastating loss of my sis in law, my best friend, we have been in intense pain...hearing this song after the message this morning at our service on grief, it is like God is showing us that there is so much of joy ahead for us in the promised land...joy they are experiencing right now. Thank you Tobymac for being such a blessing to me with your songs that speak deep to my soul. Love this song.

Wow. That was perfect. I love that you channeled a different time in this video. My grandpa worked alongside family members in a coal mine as a young man living in Fairmont, West Virginia. I imagine it was difficult, draining work. The imagery, the gray tones, all combined to express a great sorrow and grief that broke into joy and power at the end because we do know where our promise land is thanks to Jesus Christ. Amen!

Such a powerful song always makes me tear up . To think The Father the Son and the Holy Spirit took 6 days to make the heavens and the earth and everything in it . Jesus went back home to prepare a place for us imagine what he can do in 2000 years. Thank you for your Promises Jesus Amen
