Wayman was left handed and did play his bass guitar upside down and backwards, like the song says.

I've heard the song before, but I never heard the actual story behind it. I understood it, though, because it's pretty obvious what the song is about, and...I've been there. I also loved listening to Toby Keith through the years. He is definitely missed, already. Thanks for sharing this very special song, and for giving us the background.

Here is the story. Wayman Tisdale was also a man of faith. He and Wayman did charities together since they were both Oklahomans. When Wayman got cancer, he didn’t feel like recording, so Toby encouraged him to play and record again. He did the rebound album and even started touring again, on the smooth Jazz cruise tours with Dave Koz. One of the best songs on the album, is Never Gonna Give You Up, a Barry White song.
