Wayman was a four time all American at Oklahoma and an NBA all star. After retiring from the NBA he became a Grammy winning jazz guitarist. He and TK were friends because of their love for Oklahoma and music.

This has been my favorite Toby Keith song since it first came out. It was at a time when I was experiencing several family losses and it spoke to me so deeply and still does. I'm also an Okie and a OU Alumni so of course, knew of Wayman. They will both always be remembered as two of the most humble and kind Oklahoma legends ever. ❤️

Toby and Wayman were two Oklahoma legends. Wayman was a great basketball player and musician. Just look at his beautiful smile that matched how beautiful he was. Toby wrote this as a tribute to his friend. Now they are jammin’ together again.

Wayman had the biggest & brightest smile I have ever seen. He was a hell of a person also and very sad what happened to him. As irony would have it if you don't know, Toby is struggling with stomach cancer for the last year and it's been really tough on him the treatments. Yes cancer is an equal opportunity killer.

I'm so so sorry for your loss of your dad. It's really hard I know it was horrible for me when my dad passed. Now I think about him and smile remembering all the memories we shared together. My dad died of a lung disease. But time does help us. Although I still miss him terribly I can now smile when I look at his picture or remember a memory of him. God Bless You

I lost my oldest brother to cancer in 2020 and my baby brother is in hospice care now. My adopted daughter passed in 2014 from cancer. This hits home. ❤️

What's amazing about this is Toby rode it for wayman who was dying of cancer And now Toby's fighting his own cancer battle right now.

I lost my grandfather when I was 18. He had MSA, was in and out of the hospital my senior year. He was my best friend, my rock, my person. April 9th is the hardest day for me to get through emotionally. I miss my papa so much and I can’t wait to see him again in heaven

Another one of his- ‘Love Me If You Can’ also show cases that deeper side of Toby. And of course, he is dealing w his own battle w cancer now😔 Cancer sucks. Period. In fact, it manages to both suck & blow at the same time. But throughout, Wayman still managed to flash that gorgeous smile of his! My own Mom had just turned 58 when it took her; we’d known for all of 17wks she was sick. BLESS YOU for your constant reminders to your subs & others to take those phone calls, make those phone calls, spend the time, etc. Such sage advice from a young man!!! I’d add- Get in the kitchen w your parents & grandparents! So much of what my Mom made she made by memory. A pinch of this, a shake of that... I make a point now when my (adult) son is visiting these days to get him in the kitchen once or twice, show him how I make or prep this or that. Speaking of cancer patients, Toby has been fighting stomach cancer for a little over a year now. My dad fought colon cancer for 16.5 years. He had been given 3 months to live. Me in December I will be 5 years cancer free. My one regret is my phone got damaged and while trying to get it repaired they erased my dad's last voicemail. That hurt almost as much as losing him in the first place.

I love Toby's funny songs and his patriotic songs but this is probably my favorite of his even though it just guts me every time. I just found your channel and am sending up prayers for you and your dad as you deal with your loss🙏 Just from the videos of yours I've watched tonight, I know you'd appreciate the message in the song ''Til You Can't' by Cody Johnson.

Just found this channel made me cry brother God is good even though we don’t deserve it I know about losing parents I had loveable parents mom and dad taught me about God and also taught me about the belt right from wrong and they had no problems if you did something wrong, you got the belt I thank God for that I thank God for that and made me a better person and always trust God for everything I feel God so many times but I know he loves me and I do love him when these days we’ll see our brothers and sisters mom and dad all in heaven if we keep our eyes upon God, he’s coming soon That’s what makes us strong, knowing the promise that he gave us love one another with all your heart don’t put hate in your heart just love one another pray for one another there’s only two rules I go by I go by God rules and the constitution of United States that’s only law that I go by Because God created it, God created to have an earth and give us the peace and joy without God we’re all lost sad part is through the years. 2+ years ago I should have been a casualty when I hit a tree at 65mph. 1 year ago I was told by my dr. that I might have a week. The good lord said, "not yet". Yes, TK through this so is showing me how to die. Hope I can be this strong.

I came across a picture an OU Sooner fan posted a selfie picture on Twitter the other day, where they ran into Toby around Norman, Oklahoma. Toby's a huge OU fan. Man, it made me very sad to see Toby in that state. He's very very skinny right now, because of the stomach cancer he has. He could really use some prayers.

Yeah.. I saw a picture of him the other day on Twitter. I almost didn't recognize him because he's very very skinny and frail right now. Saddened me to see him like that. He definitely needs some prayers.

Toby Keith has cancer now. Stomach cancer. I heard a couple of weeks ago the cancer has spread to his brain, not sure if that part is true but Toby is suffering from cancer.

It spreading to brain isn't true. Toby said it shrank by a third. And he's feeling better.

@@judypickrell2077 You're welcome. Toby just did a rehearsal concert his goal was to try to perform for 2 hours and he did 2 1/2 hours. He's getting much better and getting ready to try to get back on the road this fall.
