One of the best Fellini's films.. Dream like stuff. Did I see the film or.. Did I dream the film? The latter.. Without any doubt.. /

This segment is so fantastic - it makes the other 2 in the movie absolutely DULL . Some people say this is their favorite Fellini film.

Same with Boccaccio 70. Seems as though if you were making an anthology segment in a 60's omnibus film, you were bound to be overshadowed by Fellini.

I do agree with Federico Fellini when he said that " CASANOVA is the most estetichaly achieved, beautiful and honest movie of my whole carrier" but if I was obliged to the difficult task of chosing one single film of this director I think I would chose TOBY DAMMIT, the most extraordinary fusion I do personally know of three great Artist that I deeply admire: Poe, Fellini and Nino Rota. I think is sad and very significant that so many people who say to " admire" Federico Fellini don't never heard about the existence of this fascinating movie ( not to talk about films so underrated and extraordinary as I CLOWNS, PROVA d' ORCHESTRA, GIULETTA DEGLI SPIRITTI....).

Out of the three Spirits Of The Dead segments, this is my favorite. Great acting, unforgettable music (including Ray Charles "Ruby"). First time I saw it, the ending horrified me. Totally unexpected. Ive seen a few construction sites which reminded me of the one Toby Dammit met his demise at.

Wonderfully delirious masterpiece from Fellini. A swirling tapestry of grotesque settings and people help to paint the madness that Toby is sinking into. We almost share the resigned sigh of relief that Stamp has at the end.

I saw this on Turner Classic Movies many many years ago and I didnt catch the name of the movie back then. Funny thing is over 15 years Ive been describing this movie to friends and asking movie forums what is this movie called?? Never once did I ever get any replies. This movies imagery was burnt into my mind, and I am so glad I finally found it once again. Little devil girl is very creepy
