Not for or against it. I was living in the USA when Brexit was voted for.
I’m here because of the memes 😂 Toby’s looks so good.
As a Hispanic from Texas, British food doesn’t even seem real lol It looks like a mash of American Thanksgiving food but if I ever go to the UK I will go to Toby’s, and they better load up that plate!

It doesn’t, true. It can be good, but I’ve rarely had good Mac & Cheese that I didn’t prepare myself. It’s highly variable at buffet-style restaurants but usually bad. The Americanized-Chinese buffets here in the USA almost always have it and it’s almost always bad.

Our local Toby carvery doesn't give you enough meat to make a 1 slice of bread sandwich, extortionate price for a plate of overcooked mushy vegetables. Will never go again.
I am from Houston Texas and one of my best mates is from Leeds but moved to Texas. We went over to visit his family and they made us a Sunday Roast with Yorkshire puddings. I dream about that meal for 10 years now.
Me and the missus started going to Toby for a roast when we were having the house renovated and the kitchen was out of use. Standing in a queue watching sweaty overweight parents and their chunky kids filling up the plates like it was their last meal ever and picking up any overspill from their plates and returning it to the carvery for others to enjoy seemed to put me off my impending grub yet I had payed for this and I needed a feed so in the queue I remained. Once I had obtained my dry piece of pork from some spotty kid with chefs whites that hadn’t been near a wash for a good while I started dancing my way to the secondhand vegetables seeing as most seemed to be all over the floor, you take what looks like it hasn’t been in a fight with previous customers if you are able to hold onto the scalding hot utensils then stand there at the end like a twat waiting for people to find room to place that slop of a gravy they call famous onto the side plate they have given you. Why these places have carpets I don’t know but it tells you how filthy the places are, the amount of food dropped off the gluttons plates and gravy all trodden into the carpet on one day would mean that carpet would need professionally cleaning daily to remain hygienic, if you look at it and imagine every table being removed you can clearly see where the tables used to be by following the gunge on the floor. Thoroughly enjoyed the bar on future visits but F#*#* me I can’t for the life of me understand why people eat this stuff, there are local cafes that do a far better job than these cattle markets.
I came here to understand the reference
rev up the bugatti, whey
Load up tha plate!
To save even more pennies, get a small and stack vertically. Managed to fit large serving on there before if you don't mind being covered in gravy.
Hey man, I just wanted to say that I deeply appreciate you liking and supporting all the "Day in The Life of a True Brexit Geezer." memes. It is soo funny to me! I really wanna try this place when I go to the UK to see some metal bands.
Where's the horseradish for the beef
We go regularly on a Thursday to the one on the A6 near Over Hulton Bolton in Lancashire,we’ve been going there for around 10 years. Lovely staff who make us most welcome,we’re disabled and they really are helpful and thoughtful, the food is not always the best but on average it’s good value for money,I once complained about the carrot’s being rock hard, they apologised and said they would do better,in fairness they’ve been great ever since,we are diabetic so only have soft drinks which are horrendously expensive and I think this needs to be addressed but overall it’s a pleasant place to have a meal there’s a new place across the road which we tried once, Never again, half cooked meats and vegetables absolutely disgusting so it was back to the Toby and that’s where we’ve stayed,it’s good value when compared to a fish and chip restaurant or McDonald’s.
Well I'm not sure where to start. I guess the 1st thing is how many covers are they doing? I ask this because the buffet is a absolute mess. When I worked at the Jekyll Club as line chef we all had to work Sunday Brunch. I have worked all the stations from the carving to the omelet, and I can tell you right now our executive chef would have a cow if she saw the buffet in that much of a mess!! The Carving station was a pigsty with all the little pieces of meat scattered all over the place. There is NO excuse for that type of a mess. Did you see all the peas and carrots laying on the steam table? How about the spilled gravy that was dry and hard on the steam table? Did you see it??? I'm sorry but my training as a chef would not let that go. I would hate to see what the back of the house looks like!! If the front of the house looks that bad there is no telling what you would find in the back. Nope I have to disagree with you. When ever I go to a Carvery the 1st thing I do in look at the steam table and if it's a mess I walk right back out and that's just what I would have do in this case. So my score is No score!!
Mac and cheese on a Sunday roast! My eyes bled.....
Carvery is not for me I'm afraid, the last one I had was lukewarm overcooked slop and the meat was dry and tough. Jim N

Worth knowing that Toby and Harvester both offer 25% off on Monday to Thursday for all Meerkat Meals app users. Also that Toby only offer Lamb on Sundays which is part of the reason for higher prices.

Wow did not know that!
I have been there on a Sunday before feeding time at the zoo springs to mind I'm not a great fan of carveries I would sooner pay more money and have it brought to the table with the veg in bowls on the side much more civilised but they are very popular. I think you have hit the nail on the head go in the week cheaper and much quieter but that's just my opinion.
Looks absolutely grand. This will be my top places to visit if I ever goto the UK!
My family and I love Toby Carvery, we have been going to our local one for over 20 years, sometimes we even go weekly on a Monday during the winter months to get us through the first day back at work! It can be hit and miss, sometimes it’s better than others but overall it is great value for money in the week.
🤑Mac n Cheese on a roast dinner, wrong! Failed
STOOOOPPPP! You put mac N cheese on your carvery?! Milk in your tea first and now this?! 😮😮
A carvery can be eaten on any week day. A week day is better because usually quieter. Good mix here. Decent value for money. As much as you like too. I give this an 8/10.x
The utter gluttony is nauseating! And yes, i do enjoy a good carvery.
Nice video! Was curious to know what toby's was like... Also, the editing is spot on!
I went to one over 30 years ago in Nottingham it was rubbish however my English relatives thought it was great.
Not for me sorry - I actually felt quite queasy as you loaded up your plate. Of the carveries I’ve had, they’ve all been lukewarm, never hot. And for me, that’s a dealbreaker. Great vid as always!
Hi Lee thank for doing a carvery was nice to see you doing one
I’m from Texas and I’ve never been to a place quite like Toby carvery but it looks great!
I have this neat trick I always use when I go to a carvary! When the spotty nosed carver asks you what meat you want just say “oh only 1, chicken, pork, gammon or beef or whatever please…He will cut you a few slices and when he goes to hand the plate back to you, you say “actually the beef, gammon etc looks nice so “can you put a slice of that on the plate too?” Works every time!!!
I really want to eat at toby's carvery. The pictures always look good whueyyy
Loved the quick Grange Hill reference! 😉
I had many a Toby Carvery as a student and my God, they fuck up everything about a Sunday roast. The driest meat, the watery gravy, the non-crispy roasts and soggy veg, and mediocre Yorkshire's... Never do it.

The most expensive day to go to Toby carvery is Sunday 😂

Looked like feeding time at the zoo. I couldn't enjoy eating in a rabble like that and the grub itself didn't look too clever.
Each to their own with the mac and cheese, but if someone put it on my Sunday I’d stick plate to ceiling.
Hi Lee, laughed my head off at the Grange Hill moment ! Looked like prison food to me, not sure it's worth the money. Cheers me duck !
Day in the Life of a True Brexit Geezer made me look up what Toby's is.
The Meat is sliced with a Razor Blade in my local Toby.
Another great video I like your sense of humour it makes the video more fun to watch. And love the sausage part Grange Hill theme made me laugh 🤣 good old days.
Stuffed my face with the cheap carvery for £5 yesterday with the O2 app and I think it’s safe to say that’s enough fuel for the following day. Loaded up on the veg second time round also.
Haha loved the Grange Hill reference!
I love a toby now and then. Good value.
Main difference between weekday carvery & Sunday carvery is that there's fewer options. Still plenty though. As an NHS worker, I get 20%off food too. My partner & I can enjoy a Monday carvery (our day off together) for just £12.80-an absolute bargain

loved the grange hill reference.... made me laugh and took me back. always love a toby carvery when i am back in the UK.
All the best carvery`s (certain hotels chains) disappeared during the early 1990`s after its hey day in the 80`s, Toby`s is ok and sufferable for a mid week meal with the lower price - the one`s that are left nowadays (poor value) are the overpriced under served chefy bistro types. - I hope you do more of these (sunday roasts).
Toby Carvery. Home of the sticky table. 😮

Sorry, but that looked awful. Went over to Leeds for a visit and had the Sunday Roast at the Midnight Bell Pub, Water Lane, absolutely fantastic meal.
I finally found out the secret what Toby's is and i must say i like it look better then the Chinese Buffets here in Sweden 39.16£ was expensive but for what you get good deal. When i ever drop down on the UK Toby's is going to be one of my food stops it can not get more British cousin.
either that knife you had was very blunt, or the meat joints were rubbery. I've not seen such aneimic spuds since I was in the R.N., and we used to tell the 'chef'(in quotes) to try puttng them outside to get a suntan!
That look so sad. Carvery on fastfood track....
No Mac n cheese but I'd go midweek.my fave carvery is the chain Stonehouse .best ever
Love a Toby myself you needed more gravy on it though but don’t go for breakfast very poor
Does the king size get you more meat or just a bigger plate to put more cheap veg on? The pigs looked like they had been in an electric blanket looking at how frazzled they were. Don't think any of the food channels have done a Brazilian restaurant, you need to do one of them, they are our favourite.
Like the grange hill bit. 🤣🤣❤️
Well I've been to 3 diff carverys in Brum. All excellent. Went to my 3rd diff one on Wednesday just. It was a special day. £,8.50 normal portion and £10.49 gut buster portion, inc more meat, 3 yummy bangers. Bigger plate. Inc the usual suspects, mashed ,boiled+ roasted spuds. Runner beans, swede, cauli, cheese. Stuffing.york pudding, help myself to gravy, cranberry+ apple sauce. Couldve gone back for more, but couldn't !!! Deff going back when in uk in dec 19!!!!
Loved the Grange Hill stunt with the banger on fork, very funny!
I dont mind a Toby, it is what it is. People on here giving negative reviews need to think about value for money. People with less can get a filling hot meal for less money. I would rather a country pub carvery and I nirmally do, but nothing wrong with a Toby, especially before a night out. Having said all that, Mac and cheese is just a dont do on a carvery😂
Good honest review this time Lee well done. I absolutely agree with your review. I didn’t fast forward. I’m travelling back to the U.K. this morning and there is a Toby very close to Cardiff Airport. I’m gonna pop in after this review. Cheers.
agree with your closing comments - if you're out and want a tasty fill up mid week - its good value. if you want something special pay double and enjoy what you are after... You can choose what you want and how much to have. their breakfasts are very popular at my local toby. not sure about the yorkshire puds for breakfast though.
Looking like a great feast. They could clean the servery
I made the mistake of visiting one once and it was repulsive. The gravy that they boasted about was bland and the vegetables were at varying temperatures some even cold. There is no chance of me ever visiting one again. I am expecting it to score very low. My score is one out of ten.
I've been to this Toby quite a few times from when it first opened, though not since just before the first lockdown. We only ever went on a Sunday once and it was so busy we just came out and went elsewhere, never again. The dinner looked nice enough and very appetising, I don't know how you manage to shovel it all in, Lee. We always went midweek when it would be quieter and cheaper. The downside for me is that they only have roast lamb on Sundays and as it's my favourite, have to have something else instead midweek. We always sat in the pub side rather than the table service side and the clearing and wipng of tables wasn't always up to scratch. I don't know about now, but their salt and pepper pots didn't used to look like they ever got a god clean or wipe ... these little things matter! The area around the gravy bar was an example here and before when I went, it was terribly messy and I know it was busy, but it's not an excuse. Saying all that, I've been a fan of Toby's for many years before this one existed and I more or less like their stuff, so I'll score this an 8/10. Enjoyed the video, and nice to see a bit of drone footage at the beginning ... you are getting advanced aren't you.
Interesting video.
It’s like a bun fight at the Ok corral 😂😂great video 😊
I used to love harvester salad bar then grilled food was really nice but few and far between now sadly keep up the great work love the electric car vlogs and the food reviews of course
@10:20 -Great video, I especially loved the reference to the opening comic strip animation that used to front the 1970's kids UK TV school drama "Grange Hill" by showing the sausage on the fork along with the theme tune to that series. (Very subtle) 😄
Hi Lee, me again! Well I went out last night as the mrs said let’s go to Toby carvery. I’ve not been there for at least 10 years but I went. Then when we got home we couldn’t believe you’d done a Toby review. Well it was everything I wanted. Perfect plate of food. I was thinking Mac n cheese doesn’t belong here but bugger it it went on the plate and I’m glad I did. I couldn’t fault it and we both came home and watched your vlog in amazement at th3 coincidence. We went to Toby in Bridgend, South Wales and I’ll be going back. Awesome meal. Big 10 from me.
I remember working near a Toby years ago, I would pop in for a drink after work but the memory that sticks is the place was always packed out on a Sunday. Whenever I had meals they were OK, don't ever remember any horror stories which is good!
Excellent channel by the way! 💙

Thank you. 😎
I only ever go mid week and i find mid afternoon is the best time, the quality varys from toby to toby, one of the 2 in my city has gone off a bit but the other one which is a bit further is better.
That is the best food that I have ever tried in the UK for me.
Never went there, but my Gram's "Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding" was one of my favorite meals. Her roast potatoes, carrots, fresh garden peas, and her brown gravy, always "seconds" with this meal. This was a long time ago, '58, down in Devon, when we lived with her while Dad, a USAF NCO, was on isolated duty in Iceland.
eeeek! I love toby carvery, mostly because I'm autistc and love familiar and casual places, but also because their gravy bangs!! my local toby is a really safe place, also, dont tell anyone, but I love me some mac n cheese with my roast too!
Mac and cheese nowt to do we Sunday roast! I like mint sauce ont potatoes.

Our local toby is excellent best carvery ever. Those roasties didn't look great did they not have them in beef dripping they are the best.
Love the Grange Hill bit Lee, I remember that sausage all them yeas ago 😊
looks lovly that like, ive never been to a toby cavery, my local pub does a mean cavery and i cant bring myself to go anywere else haha cant beat a good roast in my eyes
Meat looked pretty overcooked. Leaving food is an outrage in these times.
Reminds me of golden corral here in the states
The punch bowl in Bridgnorth Shropshire carvery is amazing, all meat cooked in an AGA.
I went to Renz Nest it was lovely now its shut down years ago Lee it was in Glossop
Having seen that plate of slop, i know i don't need to visit a Toby carvery anytime soon. 🤔
