The anime adaptation is crap because they rushed too much but the light novels are really nice ,hence the popularity in japan

Actually the anime is not that underrated, overshadowed is more premised to be used since it had still got ratings but since the anime rushed the anime compared on the LN which is very popular in Japan ratings.
Finally some respect to the To Aru Series!
After reading new testament, what makes toaru so good is that it's similar to the MCU in terms of world building. A universe with different main characters with different stories that eventually clash.
I love the op1. So nostalgic
This underrted anime is one of my anime list is soo good, and the best op for me is: "No buts!" awesome anime
