Well, yes. The problem is that that's all there is these days. Plenty good show, gold and trumpets, bombast, theatre, pretence and class snobbery ... Much ado about the Empire past, amounting to nothing. Meanwhile, have a look at the real state of post-Brexit Britain - a laughing stock in many places, and large numbers of English living in poverty in a sick economy. The show covers up the reality really well.

It commemorates the Civil War in which 150,000 English people killed each other in order to secure the democratic form of government we have now. You should compare this with the member countries of the European Union and how they arrived at their various forms of democracy in the 370 years since our constitutional arrangements were settled.

This was done the year that I was born, and see how young and pretty the Queen looks in this video? She had her last baby two years before this time, and notice how nicely she got her figure back after that. (Prince Edward). I wonder how many months did she nurse her babies, before she gave them milk bottles? Believe it or not, I can actually remember the pain from occasionally being stuck by the pins that they used in cloth diapers back then!

If they fail it is spitting not only in the face of their loyal people, but also in the face of God. It doesn’t seem like it at first glance but there is a real give and take relationship with the monarch and their people. The monarch in the UK since Richard II has always reigned by consent of their governed, nowadays especially.

Yes, the government of her realms is formally titled “Her Majesty’s Government”, the Opposition Party is formally titled “Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition”. To make sense of it, I remember that the Crown and the Sovereign who embodies the Crown is synonymous to the State. In republics, we having no monarch use other symbols such as a flag or the constitution. I often wish we have a monarch tho: I think a flag and a document (however important) are not as symbolically strong as a monarch.
